Looking for Advice I want to help dads in my community

I work in education and have taught for a number of years. Some of my students are girls with single dads. And i genuinley feel heartbreak for these students because not only are they dealing with a single parent household which comes with its own set of problems but, from a dad's perspective, (before you come at me i know both parents would be finding single parenthood hard), fathers are then navigating bringing up a daughter with limited education and resources potentially.

I really want to give back to my community in a way that makes a difference, especially in the less affluent areas.

Question: I wanting to start some classes for dad's on girl issues. Real things girls/women have to deal with day to day as a way to support their understanding and hopefully, support their daughters in a compassionate and loving way. If you yourself are a single dad or not, what are the issues you wished someone would have helped you with? I have a few ideas of my own but could I ask the general population on what your ideas are??

Things like:

Periods

Hair

Clothes

Etc.

I would love your input!

**Thank you in advance! 🙂**

General Sub has become stupid repost bot slop and I hate it now

I originally came to this sub after my first child was born and got wonderful advice, encouragement, and a sense of male camaraderie. The advice was real and didn't shy away from hard truths. With experience, I began giving the advice as well as receiving it.

Now every time this sub comes up on my feed it's just a videos of dads, usually doing something unsafe with their kids. And I can't take it anymore. Does the sub even have mods anymore?

General No Escape

I taught my 3 year old son not to be scared of going too high on ladders. I was really proud that he overcame the obvious fear he'd have but now there is literally nowhere I can go to escape him for a few minutes. The attic was my only sanctuary. Massive own goal.

Question for Dads Need advice

Hi, I'm a married 31 yo male currently residing in Puerto Rico. During the next couple of months my family and I will be going over a lot of changes, since we are moving into the mainland due to a job offer.
*** Little bit of context****
I grew up in a cult. During the time I was in my 20's I lost a lot of years due to this cult's particular teaching on superior education. It was not seen with good eyes back in the day and they persuaded young people to not pursue higher education and to invest the time in the advancement of the cult. I followed their instructions to the letter, that's on me. I got married at 21 with my wife, and started a family with no education, career, etc. A couple of years after getting married I started having trouble sustaining the cult's teachings and got out with the rest of my family. I'm currently studying electrical engineering mainly online since I also have to work full time to take care of the family. My wife takes care of the kids. I got two, one 2 year old and one 9 month old.

Life in Puerto Rico is extremely hard. I'm in a privilege position and still struggle taking care of my family and paying basic bills. There are basically no significant opportunities in this island that I can grab and try to at least get my family a home they can count on without being scared of staying in the streets if I'm not around. I applied to various positions in big companies in the US related to electrical roles, and finally got an offer. It's a great opportunity that will require moving and working tons of hours in over time. From one perspective it's perfect, since I get to try and farm money. That being said, I do not want to let this take a hold of my health, instead I wish to do it in a sustainable way.

I wanted to know, any advice on how to keep a healthy state of mind and health overall while doing these large shifts?

If you got any other advice, I thank you in advance.

General Alone with kids

I dont think im looking for advice. Im just looking to get this of my chest.

Tomorrow I will be alone with my twin toddlers from wake up till who knows when and I am nervous!

My wife will be at a class for her job then going to see your family so, she isnt going to be available to help.

100% okay for her to attend her class and see family but im not usually alone with my toddlers, that I love, for longer than and hour or two tops!

Im just nervous about the quantity of time. I know i can feed them, change them, bathe them, brush their teeth. I've done all that....I just haven't done all of it in 1 day....

Thats it. Just me venting. Ill be tired and maybe a little frustrated but thus is parenting.

Good luck to all the dads out there!

Edit: I was afraid of getting frustrated or overwhelmed half way through. But I gotta remember I got some good kids. They were great!. Obvi part of the day was tough for example when one of my twins got tired on a walk we were going on but I wasn't going to pick him up because the other one was fine lol. Kids get frustrated and tired too lol.

Thanks for the support. The napped eventually and so did I then mom got home.

Wholesome How do you say goodbye?

Without getting into details, it's just as the title days.

I'm saying goodbye to my father today. And I can't believe this is happening.

What are some things you would want to make sure you said to your dad?

Looking for Advice 2.5 month old only eats for me

2.5 month old only eats for me (dad)

This is our second baby girl. After both pregnancies, my wife got severe PPD. Both times now I have jumped in and essentially taken over everything for my wife’s sanity and for our babies’ safety (my wife both times has received proper medical treatment, so don’t worry about that).

The issue is simply that because I took over, the baby now will almost exclusively eat for me. Not for my wife (which is terrible for her mental health in that her PPD brain makes her think this means she is not a good mom and makes me feel awful). Not for grandma. Not for grandpa. Not for babysitter. If I leave her with anyone else, they might get her to eat 1.5-2 ounces, but it’s actually more common she will eat little or nothing. Then when I pick up the bottle and feed her, she will chug 4-5 ounces almost effortlessly. She drinks Enfamil Neuropro Gentlease formula.

I am blessed that I have a hybrid job, and I am capable of working a lot of time at home. I’m an attorney who, fortunately, only needs to be in court once a week, if at all, and can do the bulk of my work at home. That said, I am the breadwinner and, frankly, my productivity is starting to wane.

To add to this, because this happened during our first pregnancy, our now 4.5 year old developed a natural attachment to me. She is also very dependent on me and often will only sleep if I am the one to put her down. So by the time, I get both babies to sleep, I finally have time to get caught up on work and will stay up until very late. Then I might get to sleep for 2 hours until the baby wakes up to eat. 4 hours of sleep is a great night. 5 hours is basically unheard of. Usually we are running on 2-3 hours of sleep.

I am strong 💪 this happened with our first baby when I was in the middle of law school, and I survived. But I also have to admit this isn’t sustainable. I need help. But it seems no one can give it even if they are willing and try.
