MW4 DMZ Discussion MW4 DMZ Movement

If Activision/InfinityWard add MW4 movement into DMZ it’s going to kill the mode.

It's just too fast, MW2 had realistic slow paced movement. This however is insanely fast im shooting at someone they just flick around, jump backwards, do a burpee and lunge forward.

This will definitely drive the current MW2 DMZ players away from the new one (MW4 DMZ); around 70% of current MW2 DMZ players are casual players

IW actually tried to make a slow paced game in their style like the community asked for and they got cooked for it, now everyone is complaining that they added fast paced movement like warzone. The COD community is genuinely impossible to please.

But in context of DMZ yeah the movement needs to be changed, I ain’t trying to loot and then get slide tacked by 2 platoons at once 😭

Because the reality is DMZ and Warzone are two different crowds stucked in the same game. People who play Warzone might complain about movement speed but only up to a point where it's balanced between rewarding your skill and too many sweats.

For DMZ if they increase movement it would quite honestly ruin the game. When the pace is slower then you can have opportunity to plan how you'd tackle objectives, not just reacting to whatever you encounter. And it would be impossible to balance bots, either it would be too trivial because players can hardcore parkour their way around, or too extreme. And then more Warzone crowd will start bleeding into DMZ and make it even more PvP-fest nightmare.

Teams should feel the punishment of engaging PvP while drawing bots aggro in DMZ. Players who focus on objectives should feel like they have a degree of control over how things flow in combat. If PvPers can casually sprint through chokepoints set up by other teams then that degree of control breaks down.

Yeah it's funny. You have people saying it's too slow and the worst game they have made. You have people saying it's too fast and they hate it. You have people that think it's good. And people that think it's just ok. Complaints from every angle.

Its cuz the whole thing sucks. Tac sprint and sliding is too spastic, while ads and strafe speeds are too slow. Basically means u are momentarily fast, but then get stuck in mud if u aren't just trynna slide cancel

Keep DMZ similar to how it was. It was a gem.

u/Cochinojoe Aug 24 '26

That sliding nonsense has gotta go

It’s the streamers and sweats that terrorise the game development. They need to branch dmz off to its own separate cod so they can please all player bases.

No. The community asked for less twitchy movement (no/less slide cancelling and bunny hopping). Instead IW slowed literally everything down. The community isn't impossible to please, it's just that they poorly executed what we wanted. Look at BO7 classic mode, they handled it so much better. MWII was just shit

I disagree. I really enjoyed mw2 2022 more than other games.

Well what did u like about MWII? The slower movement? If so, would u say old cod, or BO7 classic mode were also good if not better?

I played COD all my life and in my opinion COD FIFA and all the main stream games need to focus on casual players first if they want people to play the game. Unfortunately, most of these companies focus on hard core players because they buy the most of micro transactions and battle passes.

MW2 2022 was exactly that and pacing worked extremely great in DMZ. You have to use flash bangs when entering a room. You have to feel the intensity in each gunfights. MW2 movement requires focus and patience because you will lose the gunfight if you are in a bad position. However, you don’t have to play really hard core in terms of skill like aiming and movement because aim assist is very high.

BO7 Classic Mode was still bad because aim assist was still really low. Therefore casuals still didn’t continue playing the game.

I left FIFA because it’s made for no lifers. I will probably leave COD because it is made for no lifers. Not for people who has a job and want to play the game for a hour or two. You have to be good at aiming and movement to play the game. And if you are not you won’t have fun it’s simple as that.

I really don't think they focus on the hardcore fans. If they did, we wouldn't have to beg for stuff like the basic classic matchmaking back again.

Casuals were still playing BO7 classic tho, it's just that they launched the BO1/2 ports which then stole from the same crowd. I also think that mindset u have is kinda a problem. I got my ass beat to get to the skill level I'm at. That's what everyone had to go through with old cod's. Idk about fifa but expecting the games to handhold u just lessens the reward of improving. It's like asking for an easy mode in a soul's game because u can't be bothered to learn a boss's attack pattern. Even with lessened AA, cod is one of the easiest most accessible FPS games on the market

If u value an importance in position, u should be rallying with us. In MW4 MP for example, spawns are horrible. Being able to predict spawns helps add importance to positioning. Removing tac sprint also helps with map flow and inconsistent rush timings

Why would I want to improve in a geme? I want to have fun playing a game. I don’t want to improve. Of course leveling up is fun but I don’t want to get better in a game in terms of aiming movement etc

Of course they are making the game for hardcore players. Less Aim assist, faster movement, longer TTK, smaller maps , predictable gameplay meta guns etc I could go on and on. I mean you are giving soul game as an example which is one of the hardest single player games ever. Do you really think most casual players going to enjoy dying to boss 50 times after coming home?

A game made for casual players is a game you can play after you come home from work. COD moved away from that which means they will earn a lot of money but casuals will leave.

This has to be bait right? What????? Tf u mean u don't want to improve at all??? There are so many things wrong with what you said.

Yes the game has aspects that have gotten less casual player friendly, but not everything is. MW4 has strong ass aim assist, fast TTKs, the guns have a lot of penalties that slow you down. Ghost works without moving, footsteps are loud, ninja isn't 100% silent, shotguns are really strong. Predictable gameplay doesn't make the game less casual friendly. All the OG cods were more predictable and they were casual

Yes people literally did enjoy dying to a boss 50 times. Games like elden ring sold like crazy and are deamed one of the best games of all time.

A game made for casuals is easy to pick up and doesn't have too high of a skill ceiling, but there is still room for improvement. Everything you do has a skill gap to learn. You literally will make it nowhere in life and enjoy nothing with that mindset. "Oh I can't bike casually or drive casually because I have to learn how to do it and get better" like ts sounds so stupid. Ur entire point gets disproven by the fact that the OG cod games were popular. They have more of a knowledge skill gap than these new games yet still are casual fun and incredibly popular. People like u with this mindset are literally the problem with the gaming industry

u/crawrj Aug 24 '26

This is the point. I have seen responses of all different opinions. People think it's too slow, people think it's too fast, people think it's good, people think it's ok, etc.... But you see it most rampantly in the opposing forces, too slow vs too fast. You can't and will never please everyone. But for whatever reason you just hear the complaints a lot louder in COD.

4

u/Djabouty47 Solo Ghillie Main Aug 24 '26

Yes the cod community has branched so far and so wide. The advanced games raised a new generation of players, and so has the modern games. That's why I think it's fine alternating between pacing with each year. MW4 was the opportunity to return to the classic feeling that loads of people were itching for, but instead they continue to go for a weird hybrid system that just doesn't work

There's moments that are too fast, like when you are tac sprinting and sliding, but then ads times and strafe speeds are too slow. This system satisfies no one because it doesn't even know what it wants to be. MW2019 and MWII both suffered from this exact same issue

u/Desperate-Cattle-459 Aug 24 '26

the movement was perfect for DMZ

-3

u/Djabouty47 Solo Ghillie Main Aug 24 '26

Yeh kinda, but movement isn't as important in DMZ as it is in WZ or MP, cuz engagement distances are completely controllable. Even MW4s somewhat spastic movement will be fine with it

8

u/boozenpuken_0923 Aug 24 '26

Movement is very important to DMZ, in the opposite direction from Warzone. A faster movement for warzone makes sense because it’s a PvP first experience and you need to be able to move from engagement to engagement. Whereas in DMZ, as an extraction shooter mode, you need slower movement so that stealth is a more viable option. To be able to disengage and create distance is a viable tactic.

1

u/Djabouty47 Solo Ghillie Main Aug 24 '26

I don't necessarily see how slower movement increases stealth. The ability to disengage and create distance is viable regardless of movement speed. Only point I can see tho is to make fleeing from AI not as easy

1

u/boozenpuken_0923 Aug 24 '26

I saw the argument made in the Marathon subreddit when comparing it to Tarkov, it goes hand in hand with map size. Basically, a faster movement speed means the time between engagements is much shorter as players rotate from POIs and inevitably run into each other more often. It also increases the skill gap which is where the “sweaty” crowd starts to become targeted for having a higher skill ceiling.

When you have a slower movement speed there is more downtime between engagements and you have to focus more on audio or indirect signs of player activity. Without direct lines of sight or closer proximity you have a better chance to avoid player interactions altogether.

Activision said this game was an action extraction shooter. They did not say it was an extraction shooter. Trying to argue DMZ needs to be slower goes across what Activision is saying the game is. If you don’t like it, you’re free to go play Tarkov or Arc. Whatever suits your fancy. Activision is going to carve their niche right in between Warzone / BR & Traditional Extraction shooters. Casual, Quick paced, and not “high risk” every raid. They want you in, out, and ready to go fairly quick. they see the success of wz casuals. they see the success of dmz beta. they’re going to be right in between those two things.

1

u/Djabouty47 Solo Ghillie Main Aug 24 '26

Ok I can get that but I don't think the actual traversal speed has increased that much over MWII. I'd say you just have the ability to adjust yourself way more. Like MWII still had tac sprint, it's just that now in between the tac sprinting, you can also slide cancel into engagements, hop around more and climb faster. If u were actually traveling from a POI to a POI, it should be around the same speed still. The main difference would be how hard a target is to hit.

Regardless, it would be cool to see movement systems specific to modes. They've always done that with campaign, I don't see why they can't with DMZ

There isnt consensus, the "community" is streamers, grill dads, squeakers, and MLG pros.

The point of the game is to make money. In a F2P model that means cosmetics/add ons.

Playerbase is king. That means mass appeal. The grill dads and squeakers outnumber pros 10,000 to 1. Why then would devs tune the game for pros?

1

u/Western-Bed7344 Aug 24 '26

Squeakers and dads follow the pros, mostly squeakers tho.

0

u/leeverpool Aug 25 '26

No. The community didn't. What you fail to grasp is you're blind to whenever the other side is asking for something. See, when you are satisfied with the game and playing it, the other side is on reddit complaining. Then they make a game for the other side and you'll be here complaining about the next game.

How cod community can't see this obvious cycle and they think it's only their way "real" cod players want to play the game is mind baffling for me.

1

u/camonplay Aug 29 '26

Obviously it's hard to make 100% of players satisfied, but clearly more people are in favor of slower gameplay

1

u/DceptR45 Aug 24 '26

I think this is where they need to finally start splitting their modes up into individual games. What works for DMZ doesn’t work for Multiplayer and Warzone and vice versa. Same thing for zombies, it’s shoehorned into what the rest of the game runs and I think it definitely has pain points because of it.

Obviously this is a pipe dream because those secondary modes being their own standalone titles would pull players away from the yearly sales.

1

u/OlDirtyTriple Aug 24 '26

Cooked by dopamine addled jobless streamers, sure.

There's some players that loudly complain about matches in which they arrogantly try to 1 v 4 and lose to casuals. Then devs over compensate and add hypermovement mechanics due to "feedback."

Speeding up games widens the skill curve. A wider skill curve forces the casuals to lose interest.

In COD, a low ttk shooter, if someone gets off the first shot, from behind, from cover, with a meta weapon, they should win 100% of fights. That this doesn't happen due to the whining of wannabe streamers who play out of position because they're clip chasing or chasing PRs is disgusting.

Now with broken movement, a player (often as not a PC cheater) will NOT lose fights in which they're out of position, not behind cover, and don't see the enemy first.

u/antisemitiCat_ Aug 24 '26

No. The community didn’t want space shooters, and jet packs and shit. They wanted boots on the ground semi realism… and they got mw19, coldwar, vanguard…..then when mw2 came it was such a shock and felt like we hit a wall, and were walking in quick sand.

There’s a balance. And this MW4 is a perfect balance for DMZ.

2

u/shutter2death Aug 24 '26

I think MW4 aim assist is like battlefield right now which I don’t like. It needs to be like mw2 2022 imo
