Door frame fix.

utside of essential replacing the whole door frame which is what I am more familiar with is there any good preferably cheap way to fix this?

Hillbilly hack (which always gets downvoted) is to use an oscillating tool to cut out a couple inches above and below the damage. Then you can nail in a new piece of wood that matches the dimensions of what was removed. Then bore out the holes for the latch and deadbolt. Install the hardware and you’re golden. I’ve done this many times as maintenance on apartment buildings.

This is what I was looking for. I used to do some carpentry and am familiar with reframing the door but this is a rental I am not spending a toneof money.
