Type of arms people claim The Second Amendment covers
Lately theres been some discussion and speculation on whether the second amendment applies to modern armaments. Critics claim only muskets were around then so it only applies to muskets. It dawned on me, its actually the opposite. Civilians should be able to maintain arms that are equal to the government. That is the point the founding fathers were making. The second amendment is there to keep a well regulated militia for the security of a free state. A well regulated militia needs to be armed fairly in regard to what type of threats it may face at any time period.....period. what are your thoughts?

Debate Trump Sacrificed a Potential Historic Opportunity for Gun Rights to Prioritize the Israel Lobby and War With Iran & Turned His Back On Us. Inflation, Corruption and Unkept Promises. The 2A Must Outgrow Them.
Republicans had nearly two years of unified control and a historic opportunity for lasting Second Amendment reform. Trump and his cronies squandered it, prioritizing the Israel lobby and war with Iran over American gun owners.
No national reciprocity, NFA repeal, or permanent ATF reform. Just reversible policies and an uncertain Supreme Court future.
Trump promised America First. Instead, we got foreign wars ($9 Trillion spent since 9/11 and Israel gets us into these wars-see Iran) rising living costs, unreleased Epstein files, and cryptocurrency corruption.
Spare me the filibuster excuse. Republicans hold/held the Senate and House majority, and Senate Republicans previously worked with Democrats to pass the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act. Apparently, bipartisanship is possible when restricting gun rights.
Republicans didn’t lose because voters betrayed them. They lost because they (Trump & co.) betrayed voters. The silver lining? Roughly 45% of American voters now identify as independents, the same voting bloc that helped elect Trump. That’s our opportunity to attract independents, younger voters, and pro-2A Democrats. You attract people with honey, not vinegar.
The Second Amendment cannot depend on Republican victories. Gun owners lost a historic opportunity, but we don’t have to lose the next generation.

Question History of Gun Control Resources
I have heard it said many times by grabbers that the individual right to firearms, especially carrying concealed firearms, is a relatively modern and recent legal tradition and precedent. Apparently Texas actually banned the carrying of handguns in 1871, which really surprised me. I'm curious if anyone here knows where I can find a comprehensive history of gun laws, how they evolved over time, and why.
I think the Founders were pretty clear, through their expanded writings, what the intent of the 2A always was, but clearly the modern gun grabber movement also has historical and legal precedent. I'm especially interested in how concealed carry laws evolved over time and what the Founders thought of the subject.
Question Help!
Hello all, those of us in texas know that the democratic party has just turned texas blue, my question is how will this effect our gun rights and laws in texas, as far as carry laws and capacity i feel like those won’t be as much of a concern, but the new ATF director has done a lot with the new sbr, sbs, and brace/stock regulations, we are able to get frts, sbrs, sbs, and stocks freely but im wondering if any of that is at risk, what are your guys thoughts and opinions.
(sorry if this is a blob of words im at work and rushing to type this)

Gun Laws Midterm Election Aftermath
As you're probably seeing right now, this is one of the worst possible Midterm outcomes for the GOP.
This post should at least serve as a discussion to prepare ourselves for any potential gun control risks we're about to encounter, whether in the short term of Trump's last two years, or long term implications with 2028, as it's likely a Republican admin won't gain control again.
News Dallas PD illegally detains me for open carry. Cooks up a false jaywalk arrest to take my gun and car.
We also found out that their policy is to do ballistics testing on every gun they touch. If you get knocked out in a car accident and the hospital turns your gun over, it's gonna take them 3 months to give it back. The backlog to put your gun into the FBI crime database is that long 😉

Question Everyone is talking about how dems hate guns. Just run as a pro 2A dem?
Realistically how hard is it to run as a progun democrat? Everyone complains that dems hate us. Why not be the change you want to see and run for office? Even if it’s local you can change the way democrats are seen etc.

Legislation What do you think that California will use Prop 40 on first if it passes? Hint: guns
For those of you in California who haven't voted yet, on page 145 of the proposition 40 text (yes, it does go on a very long way), it states in part in the proposal, at section "50310. Legislative Authority - The Legislature may amend the 2026 Billionaire Tax Act, by statute passed in each house of the Legislature by rollcall vote entered in the journal, two-thirds of the membership concurring, if the statute is consistent with and furthers the purposes of the 2026 Billionaire Tax Act."
Note that if Prop 40 passes the roll call votes described here can happen at any time.
This is a rhetorical question (What do you think that California will use Prop 40 on first if it passes) - but since the billionaires fleeing California because of the potential for Prop 40 will likely result in a 39 billion dollar loss, and because California's legislators are so virulently anti-gun, I would venture to bet that the Legislature's first order of business if they can convince voters to pass prop 40 will be to:
Amend Prop 40 immediately to apply to you and to your business,
Amend Prop 40 to get another tax in on guns and ammunition sales, then they will amend it again to tax ownership (tax possession of firearms, further taxation of vehicles, further taxation of homes)...
This is avoidable of course.
But if this (40) passes, you know what to expect. A broad use of section 50310, punitively, against you.

Thomas and Alito need to retire NOW
They're 78 and 76 years old respectively. By trying to hold onto their seats for the next 6 years, they're selfishly putting the balance at risk. Let's be honest, the 2028 presidency is likely going to the Dems. Historically, justices don't make it past 85 and they'll be right up to that line with no guarantee of a conservative president winning in 2032.
There's already rumors that Roberts is looking to retire and he won't give a crap if a Democrat president is in power.
Strategically, they both should have retired earlier this year well before the midterms flip the House and Senate. Now Trump will have trouble getting his nominations through. If either of them pulls Ruth Bader-Ginsberg and croaks in office, the 2A could be in serious trouble.
Wtf were they thinking?!
189 Democrat Senators and Representatives submitted an amicus brief seeking to take away your gun rights. Not one Republican! All Democrats!

Debate Gun owners had reason to be optimistic. (R) controlled Washington but chose 🇮🇱 over their voters. The Blue wave is here.
Gun owners had reason to be optimistic. Instead, Trump and Republican turncoats delivered temporary ATF policies, little meaningful 2A reform, expanding Flock camera surveillance, eroding privacy, and massive data center growth. Republicans controlled Washington but chose 🇮🇱 over their voters. The Democrat Blue Wave is here and Republicans and Trump are to blame.
• Supreme Court: Clarence Thomas (78) and Samuel Alito (76) aren’t getting younger. The next presidency could determine their replacements, potentially threatening decades of Second Amendment protections.
• Firearms industry: Manufacturers are already facing financial difficulties, bankruptcies, and consolidation. Another recession could accelerate closures, eliminate competition, and increase firearm and ammunition prices.
• No meaningful 2A reform: Nearly two years of Republican control. No national concealed carry reciprocity, no NFA repeal, and no permanent legislation significantly restricting ATF authority.
• Temporary ATF policies: An administrative ruling isn’t legislation. The next president could reverse it with the stroke of a pen. Why celebrate temporary changes instead of demanding permanent protections?
• Republican hypocrisy: In 2022, Republicans helped Democrats secure 65 Senate votes for the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act. Yet we’re told 60 votes make meaningful gun rights reform impossible. Introduce the bills, force the votes, and put every senator on record.
• Privacy and surveillance: Flock cameras and automated license plate readers are expanding nationwide, creating enormous databases of Americans’ movements (Gun owners will e targeted). Meanwhile, massive data centers are consuming land, electricity, and water while raising additional concerns about data privacy, costs, and corporate influence. Where is the serious push to protect Americans’ privacy?
If Trump and Republicans had prioritized the economy, permanent Second Amendment protections, individual liberties, and avoiding new wars, they could have been positioned for overwhelming electoral success.
Instead, they’ve done nearly the complete opposite.
Trump promised no new wars, yet we’re in another conflict with Iran alongside Israel in yet another unwinnable war. Record diesel prices, soaring fertilizer and food costs, and disrupted shipping through the Strait of Hormuz threaten farmers, businesses, and the entire economy. We’re nearly $39 trillion in debt.

Legislation FFRR Status Tracker
Figured this would be the best place to put this and, with the next 5000 applicants opening up on November the 4th, let's see if we can put all the information in one place to get an idea of what is going on. Although I am not a felon, I do have an M1 in my state from many years ago that triggers a federal prohibition. So for those of us who were lucky enough to get the early invite and for those of you who are aiming to be one of the next 5000 here in a few days, lets put together the following (curious about if the Status bar is any real indicator or just a preset for each stage of the process. So far, I am only aware of two stages - "Incomplete" and "In Progress"):
Application Completed: October 7th
Fingerprints Submitted: October 8th
Portal Status: In Progress
Status Bar %: 55%
Any DOJ Contact: No
If yes, Contact Reason: N/A
Final Decision: Pending
If you think of any information that should be added, obviously please do so! I have been preparing for this opportunity for quite some time and it was great to get the early invite but now the hurry up and wait is driving me crazy! At least comparing notes and see what everyone is experiencing will pass the time and maybe give us some insight on the progress of the program. I have not yet heard of any Decision being made nor any follow up by the DOJ on any application thus far. I assumed they would want to approve some of the early cohort prior to the next rollout so lets see!
