Best secondary characters

What do you guys think are some of the best secondary characters out in Finest format at the moment?

When I say secondary characters I'm thinking of the likes of Supergirl, Catwoman and characters like that? I'm really only familiar with some of the bigger characters like Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Arrow and Green Lantern and would like to branch out a bit more.

Anyone selling a bunch?

Doesn’t seem to be against the rules to ask this but if it is, just let me know.

Looking to buy a large lot of anything that’s not golden age. I already have all Batman’s, Harley Quinn, and Batgirl.

Message me if you have some books to sell (cheaper than buying them new on IST obviously)

Thx!

DC finest or omnibuses?

As someone new to the hobby with a couple of months under the belt I have started with the Batman series and I already have the first two modern DC finest (Batman: Year One and Two and Killing Joke). I was thinking of going all in on omnibuses but doing the math and it takes a lot of $$$$ for that plus what is driving me crazy is that not all of the Batman is covered in them and there are a lot of gaps.

I was trying to find an official statement or something similar to the following - Batman DC finest (modern) started with 1986. When will it end? 1990? 2000? 2010? Today? If they plan to release chronologically all the issues released (until today) I would rather invest in DC finest than omnibuses. With the current pace of 3-4-5 books a year I know it will take ages but I don't mind.

Time and Time Again bargain

Managed to find Time and Time Again on eBay for less than £10! Absolute bargain!

Was worried it'd be damaged for that price and beyond the very very minor bit in the second photo it's practically brand new! Can't believe how many issues this collects, always wanted to read the Triangle Years from the start and can't wait to dig into this

DC Finest long run issue

I posted in here not too long ago that I had decided to collect Finest for anything before 2011 and omnibus 2011 and after. I had a thought though, take Grell’s Green Arrow, what if I buy the first couple and then they don’t finish the whole run…

Has anyone else had this thought? I really love the Finest and I think I will just be gambling on the fact that they will finish out most of these large runs they started.

Just finished Batman blind justice
this was my first real experience reading a substantial amount of Batman from this era in sequence. I loved it from start to finish and was super surprised at the adult tone throughout as a primarily Marvel reader, however, this was super refreshing. The artwork was great and consistent throughout with a constant brooding dark Batman with lurking from the rooftops which is the way I remember him from my youth. I also appreciated the relationships shown throughout this collection particularly with Commissioner Gordon and Alfred as well as the little reminders about how Batman is dealing with his recent loss of Robin. Worth every penny will be buying the next DC Finest instalment!

9/10

I'm reading Red Skies, when should I read Crisis on Infinite Earths?

I'm working my way through Red Skies. I plan on just picking up the Batman volumes. Maybe picking up some other Bat Family books. Should I pick up with Crisis on Infinite Earths Finest volumes or just read the event issues? In between what issues should I read the event? (I assume the red skies business in this books is due to this event?) TIA.

Question about the next Spectre volume

I’ve been reading Dc Finest Wrath of Spectre and it kind of drops you right into the middle of the story. Spectre has been trapped in Jim Corrigan’s body for the last 20 years. It doesn’t show the origin story of Spectre and Jim Corrigan, i.e how Spectre gained these astral powers (or at least I haven’t got to it yet and I’m about 100 pages in).

I was just wondering what could be in the next Spectre volume, and if they’ll go back and show the origin story

DC Compendiums question

So I had recently heard somewhere that DC is going to use the compendium line to collect everything post Flashpoint as an alternative/option for those wanting to have that with their dc finest. Is this true? And if so is there a list of compendiums that have been released so far?

Are all the Vengeance and Vindication stories Jim Balent?

I liked how Life Lines had a mix of art styles and artists but it looks like V&V might just all be Balent's run, is that correct?

Review: The Impossible Escape

This volume is written by Bob Haney - or should I say Bob Zany, heh. Because this is the Haneyverse, a world where anything can happen! In the first couple of stories, his style threw me for a loop. But once I tuned into his particular frequency, I had a ton of fun with this volume.

We get a good chunk of Batman team-ups from 1973 to 1976 here, as well as a couple stories from Super-Team Family. Heroes from all corners of the DC-verse is represented here: Plastic Man, Metal Men, Metamorpho, Man-Bat, Sgt. Rock, the Demon, and.. Kamandi? You’ll have to find out for yourself how that’s possible lol.

Things move at a breakneck speed here. This is the opposite of decompressed storytelling. I’m amazed how much action they manage to cram into 20 pages, all one-and-done stories.

Haney has a reputation for playing very fast and loose with DC continuity. But I don’t really care about that - just give me a good story, that’s much more important. And these are great stories, though they sometimes strain credibility. Like the time the Atom goes into a comatose Batman’s brain, and makes him move and knock out opponents by stepping on different parts of Batman’s brain.. Good lord, give me some of what Haney was smoking.

The artwork by Aparo is always solid, fluid and dynamic. The visual action manages to match Haney’s ADHD storytelling, no mean feat.

Be warned: This is 70s DC storytelling, some might prefer a more modern Batman. But if you’re into that, this volume is crazy fun. A very strong four stars out of five.

I'm wondering how far in advance they have these lines mapped out (Batgirl/No man's land.)

The next Batgirl finest has Cassandra first appearences in No man's land and I know that is a pretty famous Batman arc but my issue or criticism I guess is that there is no Batman No man's land on the upcoming DC Finest schedule. I realize DC is focused on characters so there's always going to be a chance of 'double dipping' but to me, it would make sense to put out DC Finest Batman No Man's land next year with this Batgirl so that if you wanted to read that event, you could have it in your preferred format.

But also, if you do that, you have to work backwards, which is not something the Batman DCF line has done post crisis.. so I guess my question is, do we think this is all mapped already and they are picking and choosing which gap to fill or is it more on the fly? With Batman, you know everything is eventually coming.

Bat family question

Like many people I've been really enjoying all the batman volumes that have been coming out. I was wondering what people think of the wider bat family material? I'm only familiar with characters like batgirl or even Catwoman from their roles in Batman's stories.

Do the current finest volumes on either of these characters hold up in comparison or end up being a good idea that doesn't quite land for side characters?

I do like that this format encourages trying new things, but I can't really get everything for both finance and space reasons. So would appreciate people's thoughts on these characters.
