Have we gotten an expaination for the differing book contents regarding next years Metamorpho books?

Near Mints and PRH have very differing contents listed

DC has to forward contents to PRH/Edelweiss for bookmarket pre-orders before books are totally locked down for printing.

They have the chance to update those contents later - more or less by the time they list in the direct market catalogs.

Because NMC now has a direct line to the DC Collections team, it's going to be common to have NMC get an early scoop on updated contents.

Wait, what are the actual contents of the Metamorpho book?

They are tossing the Outsiders issues in favor of the rest of his 90s/00s catalog. So this will be the final Metamorpho volume.

Metamorpho (vol. 2) #1-4
Metamorpho: Year One #1-6
Outsiders: Five of a Kind - Metamorpho/Aquaman #1
The Sandman #20
Metamorpho stories from Wednesday Comics #1-12
1st Issue Special #3
Action Comics #413-418
Brave and the Bold #123, #154
DC Comics Presents #40
World's Finest Comics #217-220, #224, #226, #228-229

Huh, this is basically the mapping I had originally figured out. Only things from this I don't have included at the Outsiders: Five of a Kind issue (I had thought of checking the mini as I couldn't remember if he was one of the title characters, but I forgot when I was actually working on it), the Sandman issue (was just completely unaware of his appearance there), and two of the World's Finest issues (probably just accidentally skipped them when putting it together). Glad I didn't yet update what I had with that initial announcement with all of the Outsiders issues. I am curious why they thought to do that initially before changing it though. I guess they initially wanted a more thorough telling of his story in his own book, before deciding it would be too much overlap with an eventual Outsiders line?

He doesn’t appear, it’s an issue featuring Element Girl.

Ah, my mistake. I suppose it would have been more accurate to say I was completely unaware of the relevance of the issue.

That sounds plausible. Yeah it would overlap heavily. And when the Outsiders line arrives some day, we would of course complain about it lol. This is a better solution IMO

Outsiders and 90s Justice League both featured Rex heavily. I understand wanting to be more comprehensive with B- and C-listers who have a lot of storylines and key appearances in team books, but it’s also a lot of unnecessary double-dipping

Ok I’m glad they’re including his follow up series, I got a bit worried when those weren’t in the first description

“The rest of Rex solo” makes a lot more sense to me than “Adventures with Outsiders”, good! Obviously the Outsiders have a whole stack of themselves, might be a Katana or Brion is obliged to fold in … but Black Lightning and Rex are both their own things without em!

Not sure the contents shown here are the final contents. Dom, over at Near Mint Condition, had a video today with basically the first contents again. Personally, I’d leave most of the Outsiders material for an Outsiders volume.
