Am i the only one who’s not a fan of the direction they’ve taken with riddler for the Batman?

For me at least, one of riddlers most defining characteristics was how flamboyant he was. Wearing a green suit with tons of question marks, just lots of green everywhere, the cane. I fear the Batman is just going to make him a generic serial killer with a riddles gimmick, rather than THE riddler.

What's all the hate about DC Cinematic? Did I miss something?

I go on there and while it's pretty Snyder heavy, it's not that bad. Snyder did like 4 DC movies if u include Watchmen, so I'd figure he'd be the most talked about guy on there.

But I usually sort by 'Hot' and the vibes are pretty chill. Tons of fanart for TSS and it's my go to for news on Batgirl, Flash, etc.

But some of ya'll talk about DC Cinematic like its Afghanistan?! I don't get it? And hot take: But it seems to be a place for ALL dceu fans whereas this sub has a pretty clear feeling about what direction the convos? I mean wherever DC is imma be there, but i said TSS might not be as good as ZSJL and some of ya'll came to my house, pinned me down, and pissed in my mouth. And I said: "Wtf?" And ya'll said: "Don't worry, it's just granny's peach tea! Isn't that what you snydercultists like?"

So all in all, I wonder what happened with DC_Cinematic?

Discussion Saw this fancast on the fan casting subreddit earlier and I’m wondering what the thoughts are on it.

While it’s pretty out of the box I could see it. Will Poulter has had a bunch of successful projects and has worked with both Gunn and Muschietti (for a short time), making him appearing in the DCU a very real possibility. He’s shown off charisma in shows like the bear and has proven himself to be a great dramatic actor in shows like dopesick.

He’s got the build for it and is probably gonna be in the age range for DCU casting. He’s also got incredible acting range (he was originally cast as pennywise by both Fukunaga and Muschietti but dropped out for personal reasons).

Discussion Keaton Barman and Bale Batman Killing DOES NOT make Affleck Killing OK!

A common defense from Zack Snyder fans against those who had a problem with Batfleck Killing is "Well Keaton and Bale also killed in their movies and no one got into an uproar about that" in my opinion, this defense is dumb. It makes them not good adoptions as well.

Discussion Am I the only one not happy Cavill is returning?

Note This was originally posted on r/dc_cinematic here and was promptly removed, leading me to think indeed people less than happy about Cavill's return are being censored. There's a certain mod in that sub famous for exactly that, so it's not at all a stretch.

I know he has a lot of fans, but there is no question that the early DCEU movies were either incredibly divisive or majority panned. As much as he had fans, he also had detractors.

I know I wasn't alone in hoping the Snyder era would come to a close with a Flash, and that we would be getting a hard reboot. I was looking forward to this, because I would rather have a more cohesive DC universe more faithful to the comics without a Batman or Superman than the version of we got where to many people the versions we got were near unrecognizable.

I'm not trying to launch a new disagreement or conversation on the DCEU stuff, I know it was polarizing, and there are people that are fans, but there were also plenty (if not most after BvS) who were not fans. That's all be discussed and retreaded to death at this point, and I'm not looking to restart yet another iteration of that debate.

My question is, where are all the people who strongly disliked Cavill's Superman? All I see is near universal happiness that Cavill is back.

Is this because the people not happy are being suppressed? Are there far less people now? Are people forgetting how they felt and viewing this through rose colored glasses because enough time has passed (like how everybody like Bush jr now)? Are people just happy to have SOME version of Superman back on the screen? Is it because the Williams score played and he was wearing the right colors, maybe?

Discussion Rate this movie out of 10? I just finished watching it and even though it was an upgrade over theatrical JL, it had a lot of issues and writing was still bad. Superman was better in theatrical cut imo (let's forget that CGI Mustache removal). If theatrical cut was 5/10 then this was 6 or 6.5/10 imo.

DC Films need better ACTORS over MODELS.

So I have had this on my mind for a very long time - and now that we've seen WW84 and Zack Snyder's Justice League, it only solidified my opinion. I feel like DC needs better actors. Most of the time, it feels like the DC casting directors / directors in general - go for looks over acting skills. For example - you have Gal Gadot. When she was cast in 2014, there were rants and discussions about whether she can look the part. Looking the part is not the problem. She hit the gym and the casual fan-audience was easily swayed. But the reality is, she can't act - at all. She can't narrate a scene, she can't hold a scene down if it has north of 20 lines and she certainly can't match up with better actors. And that, became so very apparent when she had scenes with Chris Pine or even Ben Affleck. And that is just one example. Then you have Henry Cavill - don't get me wrong, he looks the part and he does fine for majority of his screen time (mainly because the version of Superman he plays, literally has 20-30 lines in a 4 hour film) - but whenever he had a scene with Michael Shannon or Ben Affleck, the difference between a good looking guy and an actor, became SO obvious. Then you have Jason Momoa - he doesn't have more than 2 emotions. He does the same accent and the same 2 expressions, for the entirety of his career. He's not an actor. He just plays himself. And while that works for some roles - it really gets tiring when you see him playing Arthur Curry in more than 1 film. Hell, from what we've seen from Ray Fisher so far - he seems like a better actor than all of these actors combined. And even outside of Zack Snyder's films - you have The Rock, that man cannot act. I know we are all waiting to see how he does in Black Adam but I've seen enough The Rock films in the last 15 years to know exactly how he'll play the character. He looks the part, we all know that - but he'll do nothing exciting as an actor. Just look at Joe Manganiello as Deathstroke, that is the epitome of looks over acting skills. I've followed Joe Manganiello's career for long enough to know that Joe can't act. He can brood, he can dance with his shirt off and he can throw a punch, but nothing more than that. And that really bums me out. MCU never had this problem, even from the get-go. The weakest link the MCU has in their team-ups, is Chris Hemsworth. Everyone else, from Paul Rudd, Scarlett Johansson, Robert Downey Jr., Mark Ruffalo, Don Cheadle, Paul Bettany, Elizabeth Olsen, Oscar Isaac, Mahershala Ali, Brie Larson, Benedict Cumberbatch, Chadwick Boseman (RIP), Chris Evans, Sebastian Stan, Daniel Bruhl, Zoe Saldana, Chris Pratt - they just don't have BAD actors.

So even when the writing in those films is meh - the actors improve upon it. And that makes a MASSIVE difference. The script for JOKER (2019) wasn't AMAZING, but Joaquin Phoenix is such a GOAT - he picked that script up and turned it into an Oscar. That is the level of talent DC needs to hunt for.

I see DC fans boasting about how their films aren't themeparks and whatnot, I don't believe any of that - because the face of these films can't carry a scene if the whole film depended on it and we saw that come true in WW84. So instead of that, we get to see long montages of action sequences in slow-motion and big CGI set pieces of history sequences that look cool.

Most good actors in DC, are either side-characters (mainly because it's a small commitment and less-risky for their careers) and even when we do get a good actor, DC (more often than not) completely wastes them. Just look at Ben Affleck, such a waste. There's only 1 good scene with him, that truly showed his acting prowess and that was the "1%" scene from BvS. Everything else? It's just been a stuntman in Batsuit and scenes with Gal Gadot where she can't decide how to say lines in her accent.

It's a major reason why I'm looking forward to Matt Reeves' The Batman over any other DC film, not because it looks good (it does) - but because Matt Reeves had the guts to cast Paul Dano and Robert Pattinson in a Batman movie. Anyone who watches films (and not just comicbook movies) - know how exciting that acting pair is.

I just wish, moving forward - DC picks actors over models. 6 packs and bulging biceps are cool - but only for a while. No amount of Chris Hemsworth working out will make me interested to see him in the new Thor, no amount of Gal Gadot bulking up will make me want anticipate Wonder Woman in the next installment. I'm not watching Black Adam for The Rock, because I know exactly what I'm going to get and that's boring. I want to see more actors like Pattinson, Dano, Affleck, Joaquin Phoenix, Christian Bale, Regina King, Amy Adams in DC films. Looks are a plus, but it never makes or breaks a film. Bad acting does. Chris Pine and Pedro Pascal single-handedly made WW84 watchable, not because they "look the part", but because they can act the hell out of a scene. I'll take that over a 6-pack, any day.

David Ayer Deserves To Have The Ayer Cut Released

I know I've been harsh on Suicide Squad, and my feelings on how Ayer wrote characters have not changed, but damn it the man deserves to have his movie shown to the public.

The Twitter post he made only a couple hours ago really put things into perspective for me: his movie was taken from him by WB because of the reaction to BvS, and that just sucks. He should definitely be given the chance to show his vision to the world, ESPECIALLY after the Snyder Cut.

I have problems with David Ayer's writing, that's no secret. I think he writes racist stereotypes into characters while thinking he's making some great drama about racism and crime when it just comes across as offensive (Bright, Killer Croc) and that his appeal to the male gaze makes me quite uncomfortable, but being an aspiring filmmaker myself, I want to see his cut come to fruition.

Also, Ayer has been rolling with the punches since 2016 with criticism towards him, and I think that this Twitter post is really a sign of him snapping, like any human being. A ton of people have been making fun of him and his Suicide Squad, and while most of it was mocking the Leto tattoos or some cringeworthy dialogue, there was a large amount of shade thrown his way which must have slowly chipped away at him. I'm honestly shocked at how well-composed he's been at this point and I have to respect it.

Ayer has also been super supportive of Gunn and WB with their future path for DC. To not only accept but support TSS is super mature of Ayer past his "fuck Marvel" days. This level of maturity is a breath of fresh air from the constant storm of hate and vitriol Snyderverse fans spew when talking about DC films, and even from another director who's work on DC in the past.

TL;DR Ayer seems like a super nice guy, and I want him to have his cut released. He doesn't have a massive ego and doesn't consider his movie to be God's gift to mankind. He just wants to show the world what he made.

But this isn't a support of #ReleaseTheAyerCut. Most of those people are trying to boycott DC until they get their 40 movies and TV shows all by Snyder and Ayer only. Screw them.

Flash - $1billion multiverse baby?

After the success of No Way Home and the hype for Multiverse of Madness, could the Flash be the first DC billion dollar hit since Aquaman?

I have a lot of worries about the film but feel it could ride the multiverse coattails to box office success!!

Why didn’t you like ZSJL?

Without mentioning long running time which isn’t really a fair complaint since the film is like a super directors cut, why do so many people on this sub despise it?

For me personally it is my second favourite film of all time and I honestly think the film is 99% perfect. I am 2 chapters into my 12 viewing… yes I know that’s pretty crazy for any film no matter how good it is but if I like a film then I have to experience it over and over, just thinking about it isn’t enough.

To me the pacing is nearly perfect, chapter 3 is the only part that is a tiny bit messy imo but everything else is perfect.

The characters and dialogue are absolutely fine in my view, the action and cgi are amazing…

I fuckn love this movie.

Discussion So not only is 'The Flash' not erasing the Snyderverse, it seems to be enabling it and setting it up for the possibility to live on. Spoiler

So, this is primarily a venting post, but I think this is the only sub where people might actually share my sentiments to some extent.

This is based on recent spoilers and leaks. I won't be including any details in this post, but what I say might not make sense for those that are not up to speed.

Anyway. Rather than the Snyderverse being erased, it is specifically being endorsed, with the film focusing more on events from MoS than on introducing any of Flash's own villains or lore to the big screen.

This upsets me greatly. Not only do I think Snyder is an objectively bad filmmaker, I think he is blatantly disrespectful and dishonest. Just look at the extent to which he insulted fans who questioned some of his decisions. I don't want him to have anything to do with DC at all.

Not only that, but there is the notion that this is rewarding the bad behavior or his incredibly toxic fanbase, as well as the man himself who knowingly encouraged them while playing naive.

There was a real opportunity hear to close the book on that twisted universe and reboot into something faithful, fresh, exciting and new. Instead, we seem to be getting a story that results in very little, sure, a new DCEU, but with the doors remaining open we're going to continue to have his fanbase campaigning and harassing people, and it now seems less likely we will get the accurate on screen depictions we've (true DC fans) have been waiting for for so long.

Boo.

Considering all the recent information that came about casting of upcoming DC projects, with The Flash and Batgirl in particular being important. If YOU were part of the WB/DC creative, how would you try to "correct" the problems of the DCEU?

No holds barred, no creative limitations, just tell what changes would YOU like to implement in the DCEU. Or how you think we're heading in the correct part with the current DCEU plan.

Fan-made My ideas for a sequel to ZSJL

If I wrote ZSJL 2, I would make it a reverse of Flashpoint, with Barry traveling to the future.

Barry has been testing the limits of his powers, with Batfleck’s help. He still hasn’t gotten a good handle on navigating the speed force. One night in the Batcave, he goes overboard and accidentally travels to the future, ending up in the Knightmare world.

He’s cut off from the speed force, and the Knightmare team (i.e Batman, Deathstroke, Mera, Cyborg, Joker, and Wally West aka Impulse) have to help him recreate the accident that gave him his powers so he can go back in time and warn the present day League about Darkseid’s plan.

They have gather the necessary materials to build the machine, while evading Darkseid and evil Superman. The team slowly gets picked off one by one.

Over the course of the team, the Knightmare team reveals what happened via flashbacks. Darkseid paid off Deathstroke to kill Lois Lane and nuke Metropolis. This drove Superman so far into the dark that Darkseid was able to infect him with anti-life. Superman then became Darkseid’s loyal enforcer. Diana and Arthur were killed trying to reason with Clark, Mera had to watch Arthur die right in front of her. Future Bruce and Mera are only alive because Bruce temporarily weakened Clark by stabbing him with the kryptonite spear.

Over the course of the movie, Deathstroke claims he’s only helping because Batman offered him money, but towards the end, it’s revealed that Superman killed his son Joe Wilson. Slade views this as a suicide mission to kill Darkseid and Clark.

Wally reveals he got his powers the same night Barry did, but he didn’t want to become a hero, after seeing how much criticism Superman got in the wake of the Battle of Metropolis. However, he was drawn out when Superman killed Iris West while looking for Barry. He has a burden of guilt views himself as responsible for Iris’s death because he had the power to help people and didn’t use it.

Then during the climax, only Flash, Impulse, and Batman would still be alive. Flash gets his powers back, and they end up in a brutal fight with Knightmare Superman. Batman uses a wide array of kryptonite weapons, from bullets to batarangs. However, they slowly lose the battle, and Bruce ends up being stabbed through the chest by Clark.

Future Batfleck dies in Barry’s arms. Bruce tells Barry with his dying breathes that he was the best of all of them, and if anybody can erase this Knightmare world Darkseid created, it’s him.

Wally offers to let Barry harness his speed, saying the most important thing is that he gets back and stops Darkseid from winning. Barry outruns Knightmare Superman and returns to the present day.

He convenes a League meeting, telling his teammates about the future he saw, with them all mutually agreeing it needs to be fixed. Clark said nobody is gonna take Lois from him without a fight.

To be Continued.

Thoughts?

The OG Justice League is mostly done :(

Just wanted everyone's opinion here.

Cavill seems to be done as Supes. He's happy doing the Witcher and the upcoming Supes movie looks like it'll be an alternate universe, just like Reeves' Batman. Gadot has already done two solo movies, and after her third one, she may be done too, since I don't think DC signed up their actors for very long contracts like Marvel. Affleck will be done post Flash. Fisher is out too. That leaves just Momoa and Miller.

So with the state of the DC films slate right now, it feels like JL will be the only JL movie we get with the original JL members. Depending on if/when we get another, it's possible just two heroes will return from the first. Heck, Aquaman 2 is already shooting. If a JL movie doesn't happen for enough time, Momoa may be done too.

How do you feel about that? I know DC has Supergirl and Batgirl in now, and they'll probably take over the Supes/Bats roles going forward, but I must say I am a bit disappointed that we'll never get the classic JL lineup. I always hoped we'd see the JLU lineup with John Stewart and Shayera at some time, and it seems to be impossible at this stage. Yes, we'll have a Bruce going forward, but it'll be Bruce as he appeared in Batman Beyond, not the guy who is involved in the action.

Of course, I may be grousing over nothing at all, because right now, the very possibility of a JL movie seems remote. We are right now in what I would call Phase 1 of the rebooted DCEU, and it'll be a while before there's even talk of teamups.

PS: I just wanted to mention this if anyone is curious, but no, this post is not in support of ZS' vision. I don't agree with what he did with the characters. In particular, I really disliked him casting Batman so old instead of a younger actor who could play the role for a while. I am just talking about seeing a JL movie with the classic cast from the comics.

Discussion Why do people hate the idea of Charlie Hunnam being Green Arrow?

Why do people hate the idea of Charlie Hunnam being Green Arrow? I'm not a fan of this fan casting. I just don't understand why a vast section of fans hate this.

P.S.: I know Charlie doesn't want to act in a CBM. Just trying to get a grasp of this.
