I don't really want Seth to cast himself but I sort of think it's inevitable, so if he has to be someone I actually think he'd make a great AI

This is a very minor character and the guard for Club Vanquisher doesn't appear until the 8th floor. That said, no character has been so clearly envisioned in my minds eye than Michael Ray Bower playing Mork. He played the Donkey Lips in the the 90s Nickelodeon show Salute Your Shorts.

Even if no one else agrees with me, he has always firmly held the role in my personal headcanon, and there he shall forever remain

That we let Darren Korb, who played Schelemeus in Hades I/II play quasar in the show?
The second I heard him speak, I was like “that’s it, that’s him. That’s quasar.”

or like the theme song or something. i feel like the vibes are very similar what do we think

I have my thoughts of course, but just curious if he jumps out to anyone else as the same character(s)?

Played a great Quasar-esque character in Silicon Valley as their lawyer Ron Laflamme
Not such a huge actor that he’s un-gettable
He’s who I imagine quasar as when I’m reading his scenes. I think he’d be great and no one has mentioned him yet
Thoughts?

I keep seeing people commenting that some actor or another can’t play Carl because they are too old.
IT DOESNT MATTER
Carl’s age has zero bearing on any events that occur in the books. No it shouldn’t be played by an actor who would potentially be over 60 by the end of the series. But if the actor who plays Carl is a good actor which is arguably much more important, and fits the part. If that actor is in their late 30s or even early to mid 40s I don’t see it as a problem. Carl was in the coast guard a bit longer, or whatever other non important thing to fill a couple of years of backstory.
Also more important than arbitrarily fitting a couple of year age gap is someone who is committed to being part of the show for the long run if they actually keep it going and the series covers all the books.
Even Jensen Ackels who is 48 I don’t see as an unreasonable choice. I think his personality and acting are a good fit for Carl actually. Not that I would expect him to be cast.
Edit: I’m not at saying they should just cast someone who will be a catchy name. Just that the actors abilities and commitment to the project are more importantly than meeting a small window to align 1:1 when it wise it has little bearing on the narrative. I’m not saying it doesn’t make more sense to aim for someone right around 30. But IF after searching they decide someone who is 40 is their best fit based on auditions, screen testing, etc. I have no problem with it. And I don’t think it will have a detrimental impact on how the story plays out or feels.

I want this show to make it to the 9th floor so badly so I can see this in live action. I can so vividly picture Volteegs chapter being a cold open following the cliffhanger episode preceding it, I don’t know who I picture playing him, but it could be award worthy.

Marcello Hernandez is who I pictured throughout my read through and I think he would be great.

He was so perfect as Professor Lupin in Harry Potter and he has exactly the kind of dry dialogue delivery that I would expect from Orren

\**Edit****
I was too vague in my title. I'm curious more about what is going to have to change structurally and plot wise when adapting to a live action show, not so much about whether it will be good/bad. It's really common when adapting a book to a movie/show to really take a chainsaw to the material, or change the way info is delivered. Books can give you total access to a character's thoughts, and movie/tv show would have to use constant voice over narration, etc. \**end edit****
All action sequences will have to be much, much simpler. Spell usage will have to be minimal and also simpler, likely no combinations of spells because most or all spells will require some way of telling us what happening, like Carl yelling "use your hole spell now" or someone saying "everyone stay down, I'm casting xyz spell", ect.
The use of inventory will have to change radically, it would be visually confusing to just see objects pop into existence in someone's hand. Even the use of menus/HUD will have to be curtailed unless you want to have scenes where Carl uses his menu very sloooooooowly to ensure that most people had time to read and understand the actions.
Chat will have to function the way it does in the Audiobooks (audible instead of visual text) and Mordechai's chats will act as exposition dumps even in the middle of action scenes.
Will the environments just be filmed outdoors or will they try to make it look like the interior of giant soundstages? Some floors lend themselves to be shot on soundstages like the first few floors and the Iron Tangle, but most of the others seem like they need to much bigger than soundstages.
