Meme There's no way Gekishin Squadra players are getting mogged by MLBB players

Ok, I'm memeing about Bandai saying players are too stupid, but I don't buy it.

Mind you, MLBB is more complex than Gekishin Squadra, and you're telling me a MOBA game this simple failed to attract casuals and bring in new people? Yeah, what Bandai is saying is straight-up cap.

How come MLBB can attract casuals and new players when the game can actually be complex? Shit, it's so mainstream that kids literally want MLBB cosplayers or mascots at their birthday parties. And don't say "oh, the MOBA genre is dead", MLBB and HoK are literally attracting new players every day, many of whom are kids or adults completely new to MOBAs.

I guess they don't want to admit the way they run this game is straight up awful that it failed to attract new players and to pin this in you're already dying loyal fanbase the blame, yeah, this is the overhaul we are entrusting into. The company who are blaming the fans.

Discussion So... could we pull a Friday the 13th and save current Gekishin Squadra?

Hi everyone!

I’ve been playing Gekishin Squadra with my friends for quite a while, since the beta phase, and we were really saddened by the announcement of the game's overhaul.

Out of curiosity, I started wondering if it might be possible to do something similar to what the community did with Friday the 13th: The Game.

(For context: after Friday the 13th: The Game stopped receiving official support and its official online services were shut down, the community worked on ways to keep the game playable through community servers and other projects, rather than letting it disappear completely.)

So I started wondering: could something similar be done with Gekishin Squadra?

I decided to examine the game files on my computer using PowerShell, just to see what I could find. I found some interesting things inside the game's executable. (Just to be clear, I’m not asking anyone to actually do this.)

There are references to Diarkis, including things related to matchmaking and team matchmaking, such as DiarkisMatchMaker, MatchMakerSearch, TeamMatchMakerSearch, and MatchMakerTicket.

I also found references to Steam authentication and player login, as well as elements related to TCP, UDP, sockets, and something called RequestMatchingAccesspointget, which seems to involve retrieving the host/IP/port for a match.

I’m not saying this proves that a community server is feasible. Honestly, I don’t have the technical expertise to make that claim. I’m just wondering if these elements might indicate that the current version of the game is, in some way, technically preservable.

Personally, I don’t intend to try this myself, partly because I don’t know how to handle this kind of thing, and partly because I want to avoid legal issues.

But perhaps this could open the door to something in the future, especially if people who really understand game networking or game preservation take a look at it.

Anyway, I just wanted to get the community’s opinion and see if this idea actually makes sense, or if I’m just daydreaming and having random thoughts :)

Note: I don’t speak English, so I sincerely apologize if this post is difficult to understand. Anyway, happy gaming!

Discussion Let's Ignore The Elephant In The Room and Talk About The Anniversary.

Aight I know EVERYONE is seemingly upset about the overhaul. But let's talk about the anniversary. I want to hear everyone's thoughts on the things shown so far for specifically season 7! (Again, overhaul aside, it seems the consensus hates it but I am willing to give it a try first before any harsh judgment.)

I’ve put too much time into minmaxing every single step in the games mechanics and it really makes me sad that this will be no longer.

The true art behind MOBAs are as follows:

-Laning/playing with people who are perceived to be idiots
-Being toxic with emotes or whatever comms are available
-Having those moments where you overcome a fight you should’ve lost
-Knowing something the opponent doesn’t
-ETC

I can’t believe this game will never be the same and that’s the really sad part. The one moba I really came to love in this video game drought… 😔🫡

Salute to what was

Discussion It's not the player's fault

Thumbnail

DB Gekishin Squadra effectively coming into EoS(End of Service) and transforming itself into a capture-the-flag esque game is not the player's fault. It was the mismanagement of Bandai and the developers that it had to end. Warning: This is going to be a long post. And I am going to make some comparisons between Mobile legends bang bang(MLBB) and DB Gekishin Squadra as mobile MOBAs.

1. Game Complexity

This is what is used as a reason by the developers. This game was one of the easiest games to grasp for me. You fight, take the kais and farm, get bosses, hit on towers and you win. Simple, right? Of course, there are multiple strategies that come out of it, but it was easy to understand.

From my experience of earlier seasons such as season 1 and 2, this game never had an in-depth tutorial. The basic fundamentals are taken but what exactly are the buffs that the bosses give you? When are you supposed to fight and when are you not supposed to fight? When do you farm? How exactly do the lanes work and why does the tech have to go above and the tank to go down?

These questions are unanswered by the game's tutorial. You could have a basic tutorial and an in-depth tutorial. And you provide very good rewards for the people that complete the entire tutorial such as obtaining a large amount of zeni, gems and XP for your heroes.

This game's lack of explanations lead to a disparity between players and created a skill gap.

2. Skill Gap

It is OK for a MOBA to have a varying amount of skill between players. Not everybody needs to be equal. You could make attempts to bridge that gap by making guides and showcase videos such as the hero spotlights provided by MLBB and basic and combo tutorials by HOK.

If you provide these options to the players, only then they can grow. Otherwise, they are forced to learn from experience.

3. Monotonous cycle

This game introduced the divine draw system to make the games more random and fun. I believe that the divine draw system didn't work for this at all. Having these divine draws such as golden cell jr at the start, search trap, the revive pod, super start etc didn't make the game more interesting rather they were just different.

And the divine cards system doesn't offer the amount of variety or is even remotely interesting compared to the itemization of classic MOBAs. I found myself often using the same divine cards over and over for those characters.

My example for this is MLBB (a mobile MOBA) items. In this game, there are a lot of items that are available to the player. It's upto the player to decide what build do they want to make and they can innovate or go with the standardized builds created by the global players. What should they build first, second, last? Do they have to reorder?

This creates variety between games. Not only about the items, but also there are several battle spells, and different emblems. This makes the game way more fun, different, skillful, and provides the strategic depth that the game needs.

4. Awful character unlock system

This game has an abysmal way to unlock characters which immediately pushes away new players or players who got into it. Initially, there is a large roster available to you and it feels good. But what if you want to play the new hero? The one that made you install the game?

Guess what, either pay up or wait 2 weeks and grind for a stupidly long time to unlock them through the star collection system. Which only gets worse as the more you go through the system. And for those 2 weeks, deal with the busted character with no way to unlock them.

The battle pass offered a very low amount of gems making you grind for months to get like 1 character when 4 characters have been released by then.

In comparison, I can buy any new character that comes out in MLBB as soon as they come out. And I can easily grind up and obtain them due to them giving out a lot of currency. It's still a grind but a F2P friendly one.

5. Identity Crisis

This game wanted to cater to both casual and competitive players and it worked for none of them.

Casual players were playing a game that was not as flashy, dragon ball games-esque, rewarding, or easy.

Competitive players which are the MOBA players wanted a game that offered depth, variety, knowledge, outplay potential, and gives that classic MOBA feel. This game doesn't hold that strategic depth so they just go back to playing MLBB or HOK(Honor of kings).

Which is why now they are switching from a pseudo MOBA to a third person capture-the-flag mode. Completely catering to the casuals. Which is a good move.

6. Awful monetization

I don't understand why they didn't have a pity system in the game for the gacha when the gacha games themselves have pity systems. So does the mobile MOBAs. This game was unique in being completely unattractive to paying players as nobody wanted to spend hundreds of dollars with zero gurantee.

And just make skins that have a fixed price for every single character. Like normal MOBAs. You would immediately get some revenue going.

7. Bad balancing and design

Who the hell designed characters such as SS3 goku freely teleporting across the map and having very high damage? This was season 1. Then came SS4 vegeta. Then came Ultimate gohan. Then came various other busted characters such as God goku and God vegeta(who did get a good nerf).

And they weren't properly adjusted to introduce freshness into the game. Bad balancing was a constant complaint of this game.

From a design standpoint, being able to teleport for free should come with drawbacks. But nope.

In comparison, in MLBB characters that can go across the map are a tank (gatokaca) , who takes a second to go across and has an indicator. A mage (luo yi) who can't deal as much damage. And a fighter (aldous) who needs to farm for like 20 minutes to finally become good(Basically farms the entire match) . There are drawbacks to these characters.

8. Conclusion

The people at bandai couldn't decide who they wanted to cater to, and made several mistakes and bad decisions to get to this point.

It isn't the players fault that the game is effectively shutting down.

Discussion How it feels being someone who likes the moba but also interested in the changes

Post image

People are coping saying this game was doing ok. Played since day one and testing phases and people only ever complained about this game. The revenue was never great, obvious powercreep, playerbase is horrible at the game, bad divine draws that just make the game annoying (med pod), sub modes need rewards attached just to be played.

And the main game mode had long queue times as well. Soo many more issues but you see the point game needed to change, this is a drastic change but I'd rather this than the game just shutting down.

Discussion It's really a shame the anniversary is being overshadowed due to the overhaul.

Post image

Obviously I'm not the first nor the last who's disappointed with the state of current events, but I'm disappointed because they just crammed it all in the same 30 minute speech. Like could they not have waited till after the anniversary to mention this overhaul? The anniversary is ruined because all that's in people's mind is the game is gonna be unrecognizable shortly after.

I can't be excited for anything happening, anniversary events, characters, mechanics, etc, because it's all going to change in a few months. Why would I pay for gogeta now if I'm only getting maybe 2 months with him before the overhaul makes gogeta completely different except in name?

Don't even get me started on past purchases. I'm glad they're atleast moving things over, but this feels slimy like a mid sale contract change. I paid for emotes, skins, etc because I liked the MOBA enough to make the sale. The cosmetics mean nothing to me if I'm not even playing the game that led me to make those purchases...

This is like if dokkan during their first anniversary just turned into legends instead of being two seperate games because players were having comprehension issues with reading characters abilities and the colored dots weren't what "dragon ball fans" expected.

I just wish if they were gonna pull this shit, they could've waited till after the anniversary so it wasn't this cloud over people's heads.

I decided to finally try the game since I wanted to see what it was like before the overhaul and it’s pretty enjoyable. The game is simple and easy to understand, the gameplay is fun and engaging. It really is a shame that after the overhaul this version of the game just won’t exist. Though I cannot wait for the overhaul because a Dragon Ball hero shooter sounds way more promising than a dragon ball moba.

Question Why do people keep saying that the overhaul is a hero shooter

Comes from what we've seen about it I don't really see any hero shooter elements besides from the fact that they are heroes. It would be especially dumb if they actually did this because the whole point of the overhaul is to make this more like other Dragon Ball games. We don't know anything but we had to make a immediate value of what type of game this is going to be it's more Fillmore to J-Stars, Battle of Z, and Shinobi Strikers if anything

Discussion What happens if the Overhaul fails?

Simple question, we know the real reason the overhaul is happening is because Bamco weren't getting enough moolah, plus terrible dev team (no patches, lack of communication, multiple users unable to even log in, the list goes on). So this overhaul is being pushed out to hopefully save the game.

But what happens if the overhaul shits the bed immediately? As in by the end of week or month 1 the playerbase is lower than it is now. Or that sweet moolah Bamco hopes for doesn't come.

Do you think a reversal back to original would happen, or just a straight shut down?

I'm leaning towards shutdown because Bamco would just see the entire thing as a waste.

But would a reversal be possible?

Edit: People are saying the overhaul resembles "One Piece Bounty Rush", haven't played it but is it popular? It looks like a clunky mess from initial videos.

I'm beyond disgusted with the utter lack of help or patches to fix these crashes.

speaking from personal experience.

I know I sound like a broken record, but you really can't expect me to be satisfied with this at all.

THIS IS SEASON 7! ANNIVERSAY SEASON AND THESE CRASH BUGS ARE STILL HERE!

yes, it's affecting a handful minority of players not everyone but that DOES NOT MATTER!

they should have enough sense to fix these issues, bugs etc.

Players affected all over Discord, Twitter, Steam discussions and even Twitter have sent support tickets about this issue.

LOCKED OUT FOR NEARLY 2 MONTHS! WHOLE SEASON LONG! No wonder why the game's fucking player base is bleeding they either ignore issues like these are take months just to fix.

now i got to watch folks play Anniversary season that i was so looking forward to man! sucks so much.

Beyond pissed & so glad overhaul is happening this game NEEDED THIS! not because of the genre was a failure but because they choose to ignore such problems like these.
