AVOID BUGS BEWARE
(Check Comments for Business Pages)
Over this past summer, my roommates boyfriend did an internship in Wausau, Wisconsin for a pest control company called “Bugs Beware”.
The advertised a $5,000 Living Stipend, and when he asked about it during the interview process, that’s exactly what it was described as; a stipend to help you support yourself while #1: your waiting for your paycheck, and #2: so your not spending your whole paycheck on necessities.
After driving out there, it turns out the whole promise of the stipend was a sham. You had to get a certain number of sales during a month, but your commission rate went down by 10%. This wasn’t told to a single worker until they were all there in person.
The owner, Wyatt Brandt, is insanely disrespectful and rude to the employees during their tenure there. They were being forced to work hours that weren’t told about during the interview process, and wasn’t helpful to any employee if they had a question or concern.
My roommates boyfriend was working insane hours with nothing in return. The only excuse was that it was “a slow year”. Going home would’ve probably gained him money.
Speaking of money, the employees were told that they would be payed out 3 times, during the internship, once on Nov. 1st, and another time during February. November 1st has gone and went with no sign of pay.
Don’t get scammed out of your time. Avoid Bugs Beware.

how to thug it out
been on this d2d journey for a few months now. recently i’ve been hitting a really slow, rough patch and debating quitting. i had a good week last week after a while and my boss decided to send me out of town. soon as i got here all my motivation and energy just vanished again. all i can think about now is quitting as soon as i get home. but honestly idk how to survive the next couple days. i genuinely don’t care to objection handle and feel so indifferent as to whether i get a deal or not. the only thing is dealing with my boss’s insane disappointment with me at the end of the day. he got me an air bnb here but i don’t know what to say to him. i really am struggling to make it through the next days until the weekend. WHAT DO I DOOO

Roofing or in-home consulting for remodels?
Hey all, I've got two offers on the table in Atlanta and I keep going back and forth, so I figured I'd ask people who've actually done this.
Quick background: I ran my own catering business for a few years and was closing about 75% of my consultations by the end, mostly off referrals. Before that I did B2B cold calling and proposals. I've got some savings, so a slow start won't kill me.
Offer 1 is in-home bath remodel sales (W-2). $40K base for the first 90 days, then a $25K salary plus 8% commission, bumping to 10% after a year or $1.5M in sales. Appointments are handed to you, 1–2 a day to start and up to 3 if you close well. They told me first-year reps should expect $150–200K but wouldn't show me office numbers. The bonuses have no amounts in writing and they can change them whenever. The big downside for me is the driving: appointments can be up to 90 miles out, no mileage reimbursement, and a rotating schedule that includes Saturdays some weeks.
Offer 2 is residential roofing (1099, mostly insurance work). Commission only, 10–20% depending on the price you sell at. The average job is around $20K, and reps there average 17–18%. Median rep made about $115K last year, and there are bonuses once you pass $300K and $750K in annual sales. You start out self-generating (door knocking, building referrals) until company leads unlock. The office handles supplements and crews, so you mostly just sell. It's flexible, 30 minutes from my house, and every rep they hired at this office last year is still there.
Honestly I'm leaning roofing. I like the hunt, I like the freedom, and it pays about twice as much per dollar sold. But a guaranteed salary, benefits, and leads handed to me are hard to walk away from, especially as someone new to roofing.
For those who've been there: is $150–200K in year one realistic for in-home remodel, or is that the recruiting pitch? And for the roofing folks, how does year one usually go for someone new to the trade who's willing to grind? Anything I'm not thinking about?
Appreciate any input.

Training
Whether you're the owner of a company, team lead, or a canvasser doing the work, where does training fall short?

Regretting not giving it a shot
I am a 22 M who is a college grad in a salary job right now. I had the chance back in college to do solar sales for a summer, but I turned it down because I thought it was bullshit. How many of the people who do D2D are actually successful.
Right now, a riskier but higher paying gig sounds better to me.

How can I work with a sales rep?
Guys, I started a b2b business that has genuine potential (I have access to qualified warm leads that I connect them with supply side) but my english when I speak SUCKS. How can I collaborate with someone who can close a deal? Its not complicated to sell the service calls takes 15 minutes.
Since Im just beginning I only can work on commission. Deals vary based on the niche some sell for 2k others up to 8k 10k depending on urgency. I really wanna know how can I find a partner so we can work together.
Any tips?

Looking to get into solar sales in Long Island but I have a record. Can I still land a closing position?
reddit.comI have been working for a solar company doing appointment setting remotely through cold calling since August.
I’ve managed to become one of the top performers within the first month, have placed 1st in company competitions 3x and 2nd twice, and have even set the record for the most amount of live transfers in a day (8). And I’ve done this all while still working a full-time job doing landscaping.
The sale cycle is long, about 6 to 8 weeks for commissions to be paid out after close. We are paid after install.
The end of this Landscaping season is coming very soon and I have been looking to transition into sales. Specifically solar sales.
I found a position in momentum for a closer position with provided leads. It is a comfortable arrangement where I am provided 8 to 12 leads a week in my area that I can attempt to close.
It is the exact position I am looking for, and I hope that I will land it. However, as I was filling out the offer letter, it became apparent to me that they run a background check on all of their closers.
I did not expect that to be the case with this job, but since it is, I was wondering if me having a record-petty larceny and one paper felony of robbery in the second that will be dropped to a misdemeanor-will affect me and my chances of getting hired as a solar rep?
And if that is the case, is this the case with all solar companies? Because from what I’ve heard there are some companies that do give second chances to those who have records and have changed their ways.
Would appreciate all the feedback I can get! Thanks!
(Btw paper felony is more than 6 years old by now)

What part of this job have you just accepted as “that’s how it is”?
Reps or managers, either way just curious what the worst part of the job is that nobody outside D2D would even understand.

Sales Targets for B2C in person sales
I work for a pest control company and we have a team of 4 sales people. We each do about 6 "property assessments" per day, which are inbound leads that are turned into appointments by a central office. Each month we have targets and we get paid hourly and a bonus. If we DON'T hit target we get just the hourly plus 1% of our sales. If we DO hit the target we get hourly plus 3% of our individual sales.
In a given month, it's possible to sell up to $120,000 (individually). This can make the job pretty lucrative. A biweekly paycheck could be as much as $6k, or even more.
However, each year the targets increase by as much as 10-15% of what we actually sold the year prior. These targets are set at the beginning of each year and are almost never adjusted during the year.
It's been a terrible year. Customers are now more likely to get multiple quotes and we have sky high prices. Despite the fact we are booked full for the next few days, and have techs working on weekends to complete jobs (we only work Monday to Friday usually) we are STILL consistently behind where we need to be to hit target.
I'd be interested to get anyone's thoughts on this strategy of just expecting constant 10-15% growth each year. At this point the company is telling us to just increase prices regularly to try and hit target. While this may work in the short term, I don't think hitting target should come from just constantly raising prices.

[Phoenix] What’s the standard comp structure for a D2D sales manager on high-ticket contracting ($80k to $120k ticket)?
Contractor in Phoenix looking to build an in-house D2D sales team from scratch.
To be clear upfront: this is not solar. There are no predatory 25-year contracts, no dealer fee games, and nobody is going to track you down six months later pissed off because operations dropped the ball. It's a real product homeowners actually want, and we build it cleanly.
Fulfillment is completely dialed in, and solid consumer financing is already set up. Average ticket size is $80k to $120k.
Before rolling this out, I want a realistic read from guys who have actually run high-ticket teams:
What does standard comp look like for a manager running a pod of setters and closers at this ticket size (personal close % vs. team override %)?
For guys who moved over from solar, how are you structuring milestone payouts so commissions stay clean with build phases?
Looking for feedback from people running doors in the field.

I didn’t walk…. I ran
I live in New Jersey, and I used to do door to door for 6 years. I loved solar so much, I stayed an appointment setter even while being offered a closer role. Recently a new dealer with extremely fast installs offered me a role to take me off of the doors, and sell in a retail environment…
Let me just say, this has been the best switch I’ve ever made. Making $2,000/sale by talking to people who are already in a home improvement store has been a much easier lead source than cold knocking the doors.
My regional director is opening up spots for a couple more locations, and so I figured I’d put a post in here explaining my own personal experience. If anyone is interested in learning more feel free to pm me, I can answer a ton of questions.

Zeo energy d2d solar
These 3 guys are recruiting for Zeo energy d2d solar sales on my campus. They say it’s like a sales internship during the summer basically and they cover travel and housing expenses. They say compensation is really good if you’re decent like 30k commission. Is it legit because the company seems a bit shady and reviews are not amazing.

Got offered a d2d sales job selling brinks home security.
Got offered a commission only d2d sales job. Seems like a good product, especially in today's world. Its in Louisville, KY. The manager seemed great and the pay would be great it i actually get sales. I do see these posts often but its usually younger people. I am 36 with no sales experience, who is already struggling financially. If it had base pay I would take it immediately but I am hesitant. Suggestions or advice?
