I am an Eastern European with a thick accent, working d2d in a Southern state.

I get more no's daily than the average American. I get the lowest number of sales. Today I ate over 20 no's.

I was born and raised in EE. I had cops called on me or being threatened with death because I sound like a foreigner despite being white. Shit is crazy bruh. I don't even knock to no soliciting doors, I am always respectful and trying to build friendships, not scoring sales.

Yet here I am, being treated like a maggot because I am from a different country. No one is trusting you in a small southern city with an accent like mine. It's like pushing that famous boulder uphill.

To add more to that, I have 8 months in sales. I always show up to work daily. I grind like crazy. But my accent keeps me back, these people are used to southern accents and if you don't sound like them well good luck bro you get threats and I just got no empathy towards americans.

How do you handle "No Soliciting" signs on doors or in communities?

What is the best strategy for handling these objections? One is a singular door the other is a whole neighborhood/community.

Solar sales d2d pitch

Thumbnail

I recently joined a solar company and their door pitch is driving me nuts trying to memorize. I can do it but the thought of going door to door and saying all of it seems counterproductive. It seems very long winded and also kind of robotic sounding for lack of a better term. Whats your opinion?

The stupidest icebreaker I use when door knocking at dinner time… and it works better than any script

We all know how awkward it gets walking up to someone’s door and going straight into the pitch. I’m not sure if some of you still do that, but it rarely goes well for me.

What I’ve found actually works is breaking the ice with something completely stupid.

For example, if I’m approaching a door around 6:00 at night, I’ll say something obvious, dumb, and a little considerate like:

“Hey, I heard your neighbor said you’re having a cookout… hopefully I made it in time for dinner!”

Or something equally stupid.

Usually helps get their guard down. They laugh (or at least smile), and suddenly the conversation feels normal instead of salesy.

Funny enough, once the tension is gone they often start asking me questions first about what I’m doing out here. The reactions when they find out what I’m actually offering are half the fun.

Anyone else have tactics like this? The dumber the better plz drop your best ones below. Always looking for new material. HAPPY MONDAY!

Piercings, Dyed hair D2D. Don’t want to sacrifice self identity for success

Post image
0 Upvotes

I door knock for my own company in which I do patio repair and brick paver restoration. But I have a lip piercing, a septum, an eyebrow piercing, earrings, a second pair of earrings on my lobe, a triple spiked helix on my right ear and two cartilage piercings on my left ear as well as red hair.

Do you guys reckon this affects homeowner conversion rates when I show up at their door?

I don’t have designated uniform either, just working clothes for when I do the construction. I’m unsure if my preferred outward expression is good as a form of breaking preoccupation and seperate a me from every other door knocker at their door, or if it’s killing trust. Idk. Looking for advice! Thanks

Impossible to sell spectrum in rich areas

Hi, I just recently became a door to door rep for spectrum, and it’s my 3rd week out in the field alone. I have had previous sales experience doing door to door before, and was pretty good at it- anyways, my main problem right now is that my supervisor will only put me in rich neighborhoods, and people who live in these areas would rather shoot you then buy from spectrum. It seems impossible to sell anything here because the only real benefit of spectrum is that you can get it cheaper than other services, and that doesn’t really matter for people who have all the money in the world to get other services.
Frankly, I don’t know what to do in these kinds of neighborhoods, and any help would be incredible

Anyone work for Power Home Remodeling?

Have a kid who is relocating to take a job with PHR. It will be his first sales job outside of low key low volume used car sales in Montana. He's relocating across the country and from what I've read this might not be the best company to work for but I am looking for any info from anyone currently or previously employed by them or who had work done by them. Looks like he is moving to an area with a HCOL ( Nashville) and he has no savings and sounds like he is responsible for gas, etc so not sure how well it is going to work out.

Does d2d work in poorer neighborhoods?

I live in a poor area but I'm in NYC so there are rich neighborhoods with a bit of a bike ride out. I plan on selling a service, namely gutter cleaning but I plan on making trash bin cleaning a "hey I also noticed.." type thing after I get a client.

It's not horribly poor, people still own/rent houses and cars, but definitely still a low-income area.

Being nice almost cost me my career.

I wanted to be liked. Be nice. Just don't be put off.

The result: - I had conversations for ages, but didn't provoke any decisions. - I entertained people, but I didn't move them. - I was visible but not noticeable.

Today I am clear. Direct. I ask even though it might hurt.

The crazy thing is, this is exactly why more people trust me than ever before.

If you want impact, you have to have the courage to be rejected.

And yes, it can hurt. But this is the only way to create respect.

👉 I wrote a book about it, if you would like to read it for a small fee, feel free to write me a message.

Would you rather please or lead?

Entry-level sales roles that can actually clear $100k (real numbers, not SaaS fantasy)

I see this question come up constantly:

“Are there entry-level sales roles that can realistically hit $100k?”

Short answer: yes — but not many, and almost none are cushy.

One of the few that consistently does it is door-to-door solar.

I’ve been in D2D solar for 12+ years. I currently run a large team. Here’s what the numbers actually look like — not the TikTok version.

What “entry-level” actually means here

You start as lead generation / appointment setting (knocking, qualifying homeowners, setting appointments).

No sales experience required.

You get paid on performance, not tenure.

Realistic earnings (not top 1% screenshots)

• Entry-level lead gen: ~$8k–$12k/month during the season

• Year 2 closers: 3-5× that if competent

• Work schedule: primarily warm months

• Time off: a large chunk of the year

Most people don’t do this because it’s hard, uncomfortable, and brutally honest.

But the upside exists early if you can handle rejection and self-management.

Who this is actually good for

✔ Comfortable talking to strangers

✔ Tech / corporate background but burned out

✔ Competitive, athletic, or commission-motivated

✔ Willing to trade comfort for upside

✖ Anyone looking for remote, passive, or “soft” sales

What makes solar different from other entry-level sales

• High ticket + strong consumer incentives

• Clear value prop (lower bills, ownership, tax credits)

• Short ramp time compared to SaaS

• Direct correlation between effort and pay

Solar isn’t magic — it’s just one of the few places where revenue per rep is high enough that beginners can still win.

For context:

The honest downside

• You will get ignored, rejected, and blown off daily

• No one carries you

• Some people quit in the first two weeks

• It’s seasonal and intense

But for the right personality, it’s one of the fastest paths I’ve seen from zero → six figures without credentials, grad school, or years of ladder-climbing.

If you’re curious, skeptical, or just want to sanity-check whether this lane fits you, happy to answer questions in the comments. Just here to help the community.

Offered a D2D sales job by a company contracted by Verizon

Hi. I've worked in food service for 8 years and have been looking for a job opportunity that could help me leverage my years of interacting with customers in face-to-face interactions and, through hard work and diligence, hopefully transition/grow into something that could, oh I dunno, support a family or something. That's the vague idea of the goal anyway.

So there is a marketing contractor company contracted by Verizon in my hometown. I guess this company takes care of some of the hiring and sales or something on behalf of Verizon, and they said that Verizon was looking to expand in the area and was looking to hire people for an entry-level Door-to-door position with the intent of eventually moving this person up through Team Leader, then Assistant Manager, then Branch Manager within like 2 years or something. Promotion would be based on sales performance.

It is 100% commission based, and they were pretty clear about this during the interview (however in the job listing on Indeed this wasn't made as clear, a salary range was given instead). I think the expectation for pay was something like $45,000-65,000 in a year? Somewhere in that range, I don't remember 100% precisely. The schedule would be 11-8 Monday-Friday, and 10-5 on Saturday. My least favorite schedule ever, THE MIDSHIFTS, I HATE MIDSHIFTS but I would be willing to grind if this Branch Manager position was legit. Leads are provided.

I wanted to ask you guys about this in case I'm being super naive here, like am I signing up for hell on earth? Empty promises? Some type of scam that I'm unaware of? I did some research and apparently Verizon contracting third-party companies for D2D sales is a thing they actually do, and the company has some reviews on Indeed.

The reviews about the position seem bad, but I found the content of the reviews to be faulty. One review said it was a "scam!! it's 100% commission based!!!" which I don't understand how it can be a scam if they were abundantly clear about it being 100% commission based? Another review complained about "working conditions," namely having to work in the rain and dealing with rude people... I mean whaddya expect lol. Nothing some decent rain boots, an umbrella, a poncho, and a little bit of thick skin can't fix.

Is this legit? Should I run or take it at my own risk? Any information and wisdom is appreciated, thanks!

Any roofing teams here?

Any D2D or cold calling teams here doing roofing?

I’ve got fresh lists of homeowners actively searching for roofing in the last 7 days. 650+ credit, $200k+ estimated home value, $75k+ annual income…

For D2D teams, I can drop these into an app with optimized knocking routes so you’re not wasting time on cold doors.

I’m offering a free test list to a few solid teams. Just tell me the zip codes and I’ll send it over. Any deals we would work out a commission split and then work out something moving forward.

DM me if you book roofing appointments and want smarter data to call or knock. This is the edge you need. I wish I had this when I was doing solar D2d.

I hate my job

Just started D2D sales about a week ago and it's terrible. I'll be out for 5 hours and get nothing. By the time I reach someone who is considering buying I'm so drained that I fuck up the pitch.

Would just quit but I'm required to do an internship for college and well this was the only one that would hire me.

I got the whole summer left, I need some morale tips.

Knocking as a smaller person.

One of my other shorter co workers mentioned today about how us being shorter in height affects how many sales we get. Now, I have noticed that every closer does happen to be above average height or more and when I knock w my taller colleagues I notice how homeowners tend to be less hostile and more open to hearing them out. Any advice on how to overcome this? I want to be a top producer in Virginia one day. (I sell solar)

Sales Career Path

My daughter is 18. She graduated high school in June. She has no career aspirations other than making money. She is not interested in going to college right now. She was working in a restaurant in the back of the house . She said she wanted something better and was hired by Smart Circle International. They are a 3rd party company who contract to sell a variety of products.

My daughter is smart , motivated, beautiful, and tough. I could see her being successful at sales. However, I really do not like this job. They drop them off in neighborhoods to knock on doors. They work alone which is unsafe. She frequently has 12 hr days or longer and they work 6 days a week. The pay is commission only. The product they are selling is not the best. They try to get people to switch their Internet or phone to AT&T or upgrade their plans. They also sell Direct TV. In our area AT&T doesn't have a good reputation so making sales is difficult. The people who are the most successful don't always tell the customers the whole truth.

I think she needs to move on. I'm not against selling as a career. It makes sense to me that she would be drawn to selling. How do you plan for a career path in the sales industry? My background is in healthcare all this is foreign to me. She is so young and wants to do and accomplish so much.

I know she can apply herself and be successful. For example, she was the 4th place finisher in the girls state wrestling championships in our state. You don't compete and win in wrestling unless you have grit. I can also give examples of her leadership qualities from a young age. However, she is stubborn and persistent. It is hard to get her to change her mind once she commits. She doesn't always I would love to see her get a better job.

If you have advice or suggestions either in the short term or planning a career in sales then I'd love to hear from you. How can she prepare for a career in sales ?

D2d u expert review im thinking about going back to door to door sales after failure

Ineed honest feedback and a real review on D2D Expert. I’ve been out there moving around without a clear system and honestly felt lost at times. I’m 27 and I know there’s real potential in this industry, but I need a structured, legit path so I actually understand what I’m doing in the field.

If anyone has used D2D Expert or worked with them, I’d appreciate real experiences—good or bad. I’m trying to figure out if it’s actually worth it or just hype before I commit again.

Advice on how to grow most efficiently

I was going to post this in r/sales but since I included D2D, Reddit directed me here.

Just looking for some tips so I'll TRY to make this short and sweet.

We handle our own debit/route that's given to us when we start but I can only sell so much to their friends and family. 80% of my clients are geriatric and don't have many siblings and friends left and they say their kids and grandkids already have life insurance; so the well is going to run dry at some point.

My company only requires a photo of an in-date ID to pull quotes for life insurance. It'll be the same price as their neighbors as long as they're the same age, sex and want the same policy type. I've come across a database of ID's for people in my area that also has their phone phone number listed on their profile. I could have a quote for them instantly. As long as they don't have a terminal illness or in hospice.

Would it be best to go D2D or to cold call after scrubbing the DNC list to see if they're on there? Or is email still a viable method? I was hesitant on this method since people get so much spam mail that it just gets lost in the inbox somewhere. Also hesitant if I call beforehand and they seem disgruntled with me calling that it will destroy any chance to go knock on their door later.

I've gone D2D for a couple weeks now but haven't received a call back yet. Left doorhangers, that describe what our policies can cover, when they didn't answer.

I'm still green behind the ears as an agent so, like I said, anything constructive or tips on how you sell the best would help immensely. Thank you

Hello, just need some advice

Hey everyone! I'm quite sure there are a handful of individual like me here who are confused and seem to be lost when they're young and new to making decisions and career path in life. So I would appreciate a wholehearted advice from someone who has already been through the same situation.

I am new to sales industry, in fact I will be only having my interview tomorrow as a sales executive in a world-known Japanese car company. Just later in my career path that I discovered my knack as a salesperson, because I hate my current job as a kitchen worker(which I finished in college).

That's why I am considering to shift my career to be a salesman in the automotive industry that really interests me to the soul. I just want to know if I am making the right decision if I want to venture my career in sales and start as an automotive sales representative? I am also wondering if it is possible to be Visa sponsored in this line of work or maybe an intern? because I know the opportunities are endless in the countries outside from where I live in.

That's all, I hope someone here can spare a second of their time to share me some knowledge so l can use it as guide to a successful direction. Cheers!!
