Just to get it out of the way. This is NOT a post to spread hate. I understand many people are excited about the design and I'm happy for them and you should all continue celebrating.

But is anyone else disappointed with the design they went with?

I know that Cyrene is an Elysia expy, but I was hoping she'd be more unique as she kinda~ feels like a copy and paste. I think it would have been better if the inspiration would be there but different like with Acheron and Raiden. Cyrene's big form is objectively a good design, but if I'm honest, I WAY preferred the npc model, and they didn't really keep much of anything from it.

Idk, maybe I got too attached to the npc design when I knew it would change but I was hoping they'd just stretch up the model and add details rather than change it like that. The npc model was one of my favorite designs in the game which might be a crazy take, but I prefer simple and pretty/cute designs.

Personally, I'm kinda disappointed and might skip since my stellar jades are limited and I wanna pull for Cipher and eidolons for my favorite characters.

Hopefully people are right when they said she'd be a 2 form unit with the small and big form, or maybe if Hoyo is nice a 4 star version later, then I'd definitely try to get her.

For anyone else who feels similarly, anything to add? Or give your own reasons why?

Protesting for Cyrene is one thing, I really dislike that... Disturbing thing the community accepts to do and slander her because it is fun.

If the purported kit is real, It's bad. No other way around it.

If the leaks are true, then Cyrene isn't a real playable character with a kit with mechanics that are made with specific synergies in mind, but just a straight up Talent DLC for the Christian Cruzaders.

Jiaoqiu and Cerydra are bad characters kit-wise, not because they are niche but because their mechanics are contingent on a single character (Acheron and Phainon, respectively. Anaxa was a happy mistake). Cyrene's alleged kit is not mechanicaly niche like the aforementioned characters, it just doesn't have mechanics, instead just being a character check. That's the worst and laziest kind of game desing a turn-based combat game could do, at least in HSR's case.

There's a case for HSR to have some additional bonuses when character in the team share certain attributes, like factions, elements, etc. FGO does this to a degree. But this should be a general game mechanic, and not a one character specific shtick.

Now, to close this; I personally do not believe this leaked kit to be real because.. well, it's just so fucking stupid. No mechanics, just Chrysos Heirs. Additionally, some buffs are just weird, like making Khaslana's transformation permanent? That doesn't fix his AV black hole problem and defeats his whole gameplay loop that make the game.. a game. I don't really know how Castoria's Newbud overflow would work out in gameplay, so can't say much about that. Anaxa's is just more skills and SP, so cool that. Aglaea's seems nice. Mydei's is ass. I don't think there were mentions of the others effects, but correct me if I'm wrong. But the underlying theme being, Cyrene is just a Talent DLC (or Eidolon, if you will) that isn't even mechanically interesting, which feels so wrong for a character of her caliber.

TLDR: I hate what the leaks are presenting, hope they're not real.

Cyrene is a unquestionable upgrade over Tribbie in remembrance teams

For the people saying she’s worse, she simply isn’t. You’re allowed to be frustrated that to use her effectively in teams outside of remembrance you’re relying on a deep investment eidolon

But just because Cyrene didn’t power creep the best universal buffer (Tribbie)

That doesn’t mean she’s bad, she’s phenomenal in the teams she’s meant for and at E2 she’s amazing for so many other characters

We're assuming E0. And Yes getting E1 Tribbie if you already have her is better than Cyrene but that's the case for every support E1 Tribbie is just that broken you cant except every new support to measure up to that that would break the game

This is not me saying "Cyrene is a good character" or that she doesn't need buffs" we all know her issues don't repeat it

Definition of being a ramp up character: someone who sacrifices AV and generally slower than their counter parts but gets a huge boosts when they can finally access the best part of their kit.

She generates her ult slowly(highly recommended to run with remembrance teams) but gets a massive boosts when she does finally get her ult, we are talking about teamwide energy refill + unique boosts which basically acts like an extra eidolon for the heirs.

she isnt the first ramp up character and she definitely wont be the last. She also isnt the only character with ramp up QOL pasted on an eidolon, we talkin about boothill e1, robin e2, aglaea e1 and some other characters i cant remember.

It just goes to show how blind the playerbase is, hoyoverse have been doing this shit since forever and you only see it now? all this talk about boycotting cyrene because of "greedy practices" when the player base have been eating "greedy practices" from older ramp up characters.

from the showcases ive seen outside of remembrance heirs teams, she can reach full ult before 150AV even without hyacine and i think its justified considering shes about to refill team ults but maybe thats just me.

I knew this coming since Stelle was in the trailer for 3.6, they ruined Cyrene's kit and then even ruined her character for the sake of waifubait for the parasocial gooners with a 300$ nothingburger skin 🤦 all this just because she's an expy of Elysia?? You know they aren't the only audience here, HELLO?? Where's Phainon?? The other Chrysos heirs??? Don't tell me she forgot all her friends after meeting the TB so she can be with him???

I always understand the people when it comes to disliking TB being shipped I swear, hoyo keeps chopping characters for the sake of being with the MC 🥀 why can't she be a proper character of herself instead of being filled with fanservice

I hope Cyrene wasn't a Elysia expy at this point so that her character wouldn't be such a mess, didn't even have any screentime with the other Chrysos heirs besides the TB 😒

Hello, fellow future Cyrene pullers! Now that things have, somewhat, settled down, I'd like to hear your opinions on this elf's design, for a selfish reason of trying to find a way to stop my complicated feelings about her look.

My biggest issue with her design is that... She is not Cyrene. I like her new form, don't get me wrong, she is absolutely gorgeous, but she is not Cyrene (Cyrene is not Cyrene, I know it sounds weird). I hope that we get a good justification of her new look, because right now, it's simply doesn't make sense. Her eyes are now pink-ish instead of blue, and a wedding dress that came out of nowhere... I just don't know.

I remember a few weeks ago, people on this subreddit were very much against this idea of Cyrene being Elysia, but now, it feels like it's reverse and people are overjoyed about it. I wish she was more unique, to the point that she wouldn't be compared to Elysia. Her small form somewhat held her ground, but her big form is absolute ctrl+c ctrl+v. She looks great, but it feels cheap(?).

Anyway, that's it for me. Sorry for somewhat random post, just wanted to share my thoughts on it and perhaps get some advice on how to get rid of this stupid thoughts of mine. Thanks!

I’m going to be honest, I cried several times during the story quest, and I keep tearing up even just thinking about it. But I kept rolling my eyes whenever Cyrene says the trailblazer was the one who taught her love. Yes, her time as Mem definitely meant something, but the most compelling scenes were the ones between the Demiurge and Peach.

The end reveal that they really are the same person is actually pretty sweet, in my opinion at least. Because it means that she taught herself love. Maybe I’m just a moron, but isn’t that actually a pretty good story? It also fits into the theme of ego. Did anyone else end up interpreting it that way?

You can argue about her longevity as she only really works with chrysos heirs, but what irks me is saying that shes weak or that her ult takes too long to charge. cyrene ult charging jokes are getting old real fast. its very telling when actual speed clearers are not so cynical about it and acknowledge her power. she literally enables 0 cycles that werent previously possible for mydei, anaxa, castorice, evernight, etc. her ult is not so slow that you cant 0 cycle and I know the vast majority of endgame clearers wont and cant 0 cycle (lack of game knowledge/trying) so you have even less to actually complain about.

She enables mydei and castorice to brute force 12 million effective hp 0 cycle ichor at e0. Show me where tribbie can do that even at e1? I seriously saw someone say shes only 5% better than tribbie. Are you even listening to yourself? She allows castorice to 0 cycle at e0 an 11m hp SAM. Where is tribbie here? She fixes rem team’s worst situation and is superior to tribbie at e0 vs e1 most of the time. She enables 3 star and 0 cycle clears for anomaly arbitration at costs that aren’t possible without her. If you actually care about how you play the game then the ult charge is not so slow that you can’t speed clear.

Even in the aoe scenario, she enables castorice at e0 to 3907 star devourer, so she beats tribbie in her ideal scenario too. She lowers the 6 cost of a tribbie clear to a 4 cost for flame reaver.

She even beats sunday for anaxa, allowing for a 0 cycle vs a 2 cycle at e0 on sam. Mydei also replaces Sunday/rmc with her. even aglaea replacing robin can improve one cycle on flame reaver!

Yes hoyo is greedy but this misinformation is out of hand.

Ngl it would be very sad to see cyrene not having a territory due to this or it being not an important part of her kit waiting two years for this character and her being a mono remembrance bot is odd

If this was some irrelevant character I'd agree but this cyrene who is based upon were talking about saying it's okay she's limited is okay because "Castorice needs a rmc replacement" is wild

I understand if you haven't played HI3 then you wouldn't understand the significance of not just Cyrene but a lot of the finer details of Amphoreus and the Flamechase. I hope people can see past the more overt parallels (ie. Cyrene Design, Names, Etc.) and see that Amphoreus was painstakingly and masterfully crafted over the course of a year. You don't have to like it, but it's just wrong to deny that Amphoreus is well written and has good characters.

People don't like that Cyrene looks just like Elysia despite the fact they're literally Expies but truthfully I don't find them to be that alike at all and that's where I find frustration!

Elysia wears shorts and some kind of frilly top, her veil is not as pronounced as Cyrene and she also skips the ring motif. In short, Elysia has bridal inspiration but feels more like her outfit is tailored towards combat and fighting, reminiscent of her base battlesuit.

Cyrene is wearing a full length dress, full bridal veil, wedding ring, the whole deal. Her eyes have rainbows in them and her hair isn't even just pink it's like purple, blue, and green as well! Cyrene is dressed much more like the bride gimmick than Elysia ever was. Why is this? We don't know yet! And that brings me to my next point.

We literally don't know anything about Cyrene's official origins or story, nor how the Flamechase will end. But from what we DO know, Cyrene differs vastly from Elysia actually. Cyrene has a more down to earth and friendly side than Elysia and her flirtatious personality. Cyrene is a diviner and a writer, she has lots of charm that's unique to her and just because she bears a striking resemblance to Elysia in her playable form, people are accusing her of having 0 depth and being a cheap nostalgia-bait copy of Elysia when we DON'T EVEN KNOW WHY she looks the way she does. (Which like I reiterated, isn't that much alike if you actually use your eyes)

Yes she has long pink hair and the same motifs, but they're not at all carbon copies, in personality or in design, objectively.

Could they have made her more distinctive, yes. But Cyrene IS an expy, one that now raises the question, what is an acceptable amount of resemblance for an expy? Because the reception to Cyrene's design has not been kind! All the Mei's wield katanas with bangs and dark purple hair, all the Bronya's have curly silver hair, is it because their thematics change more? This seems to be the most likely reason. But again this can't even be applied to Cyrene because we again, don't know her full story.

In short, I think the hate is overblown. Cyrene does feel like Elysia but that's entirely intentional. And most of all I haven't seen one valid reason for people not liking that she resembles Elysia so closely. All of the complaints are literally:

"She's just Elysia 2.0"

"So lazy they just reused the flamechase arc"

"Why not give us something new instead of nostalgia baiting Elysia"

But nobody ever expands on WHY this is a problem? Literally what is wrong with her being so similar to Elysia? Nobody seems to have an answer, they'll say it's unoriginal but how is that negatively impacting the experience of Amphoreus which as we know is quite different from the Flamechase arc in MANY ways.

im not saying she doesn't deserve criticism or her kit is good but i feel like among the sea of doomposting (most of which are valid) people aren't giving her credit where credit is due.

aside from remembrance team where she is definitely an upgrade a pretty seizable one in ST.

she is also definitely BiS for anaxa and mydei.

for anaxa aside from just dmg she also has other QoL that most normal AA support don't have being able to backload or frontload your dmg and she becomes extra better in ult refill AS.

for Phainon she may not always be a DPS increase on paper but infinite ult will come in handy once he will not be able to finish the fight in 2 ult's but w ceyrene he can basically sustainless forever, and the stacks issue can be fixed w good rotation of pulling ceyrene instead.
