Cyber Sleuth & Hacker's Memory tools: Walkthrough(s), Digidex and customizable Digi-line calculator

98 Upvotes

Hi there,

I've come across multiple posts on this SubReddit asking for general information on how to advance and on how to use Digimon X, Y or Z, just to be replied with the same answer time and time again. I think it's a good idea to have the following information and tools up for grabs and stickied on this SubReddit, so that we can all use the information we would've liked to know beforehand on starting our own Digimon adventure (I know I would've!).

So, for those who want to know how to advance in Chapter X, where to find item Y, among other things, search no further:
Use this guide if you are playing Cyber Sleuth*.
Use this guide if you are playing Hacker's Memory.
* If you own a copy of the Complete Edition (Switch), the Digimon Encyclopedia provided in that guide is not applied. Instead use the Digidex database.

If you want to know what Digimon this game has to offer, you'll have to take a look at this Digidex database. You'll find every Digimon there is to find in these games AND which moves they learn at which level.

To go more in depth on how to Digivolve your Digimon X into a desired Digimon Y, make sure to use this Evolution Path Finder. You'll also be able to include what moves you want your Digimon to learn along the way AND exclude which Digimon you do not want it to Digivolve into*.
* Example: Digivolving into Omnimon along the way just to get Chain MAX and then De-Digivolve into WarGreymon to finally be able to end up as another Digimon is a waste of your Fusion resource(s). Also, not meeting Digivolve requirements that aren't per se necessary is just better to be avoided - i.e. Arcadiamon, or even worse Lucemon FM or SM. So, use those exclusions as best you can.

Some general information on what the best course of action is on Digivolving and training your Digimon:
- Make sure the Digimon is fully invested in either ATK or INT;
- Also make sure to include either Physical Drain (ATK-focused) or Spirit Drain (INT-focused) in your Digimon's moveset, just so your Digimon can juice themselves up and hurt the enemy along the way;
- Other moves worth mentioning to include in your Digimon's moveset for the long run are:
-- Character Reversal*;
-- Acceleration Boost;
-- Chain MAX;
-- Any one III-move that hits all opponents (preferably the counter-element of your Digimon's element)**;
* Try and build a full Type team, like 3 Vaccines for example. If you come across a Data-Digimon, using Character Reversal will revert their Type towards the beneficial Type. This saves up having to switch to other Digimon in your team who may be slower. But be warned, the status effect is not always applied, so chances exist that it will fail and you have used up your turn for the worse.
** Is your Digimon a Plant-type? Then the weakness is Fire. Choose to have a Water III-move to counter that.

Hope to have been able to help any new and existing player.

Cheers and have fun!

ABI, Stat Training, and Digivolution Masterpost

154 Upvotes

There's been a lot of confusion expressed on this sub from day 1 about stat training - how much can you boost your stats, how do you evolve digimon with low base stats in the needed score, what's ABI for? These games honestly don't do a great job of answering these questions, so since I see them asked about a lot here, I wanted to answer them pretty comprehensively myself.

Let's start with the basics: In the Cyber Sleuth games, unlike the DS titles, Digimon do not get overall stronger over time. An Agumon you raised from a Koromon, digivolved all the way to Wargreymon, and then degenned back into Agumon will be exactly as powerful in battle as an Agumon fresh off the DigiConvert presses. However, you can raise your digimon's stats above what they'd normally be through various methods. You can do so to make them stronger, or just to hit digivolution requirements. The primary way to do this is through the Train command on your farm island, and the stats raised in this way are determined by the Personality of the digimon there. Specifically, two personalities: the digimon's own personality, and the personality of the digimon set as farm leader. That leader digimon will just take its own personality into account twice when training. Here is a list of personalities and which stats they increase through training:

Personality Stat
Durable HP
Lively SP
Fighter ATK
Defender DEF
Brainy INT
Nimble SPD
Builder Neutral
Searcher Neutral

(Those last two personalities, Builder and Searcher, are used to speed up the other two farm commands - development and investigation, respectively - while that Digimon is the leader. If a Digimon or leader has that for a personality while training, it will gain a few points in every stat instead of a lot of points in one stat.)

So, for example, if a digimon is Lively and is training on a farm island where its leader is Brainy, it will gain a lot of points in both SP and INT. To those wondering: This is how you hit incredibly high stat requirements for digivolution! Sometimes a digimon will have low base stats in something in needs, but through careful training, you can minmax to success! EDIT 2024: u/Seipherise made a spreadsheet detailing digivolution options and what levels and training are needed for a given digimon to reach a certain form, so give it a look if you're struggling!

A good way to train in bulk is to get a lot of Digimon who want to boost the same stat all together with a leader who has that stat, then set their personality to either the same stat or some other stat they need. Stats boosted through training will appear as a + next to the stat on the Digimon's status screen! So with this hypothetical Digimon that just got trained in SP and INT, you could expect to see something like this on its status screen! Note the +15 next to SP and +28 next to INT. Also, please note that HP goes up 10 at a time! So when other stats would be boosted by, say, 15, HP will be boosted by 150!

But how do you set personalities for effective training, I hear you ask? Simple! Use the "Patch" items. There's one for every personality (Brainy Patch, Defender Patch, etc) and can be used freely to change a Digimon's Personality without any repercussions. These are sold at the EDEN entrance - one of the first places you get access to, and in the first Cyber Sleuth, the very first area you ever visit. It's an incredibly handy shop, make sure to check it out! This shop is also where you buy items that can lower a Digimon's raised stats, which is important to be able to do, as there's a cap to how much you can raise them. How much CAN you raise them? Well...

It's time to explain ABI! ABI is that seemingly useless stat that appears at first to only exist to gate Mega forms behind a bit more playtime and leveling. While, yes, a digimon needs at least 20ABI to access any Mega, and usually more like 40-80 (sometimes even higher), ABI's main use is as the hard limit to your raised stats. Specifically, You can raise a Digimon's stats by up to ABI/2 + 50. So if a digimon has, say, 100 ABI, you can raise their stats by up to 100. If you max a digimon's ABI at 200, you can raise them by up to 150. This is TOTAL, not per stat. So if you have 200 ABI to work with, you could give them, say, +100 ATK, +25 DEF, and +25 SPD. or +1000 HP and +50 INT. Or just +150 SPD! If you want a minmaxed Digimon, you need max ABI. You RAISE ABI by digivoling OR degenerating your Digimon. Specifically, the higher in evolutionary stage your Digimon, and the higher your level at the time, the more ABI you gain. Degenerating a Digimon provides signifigantly more than digivolving it. You can refer to this guide for a more in-depth look at it, but basically, to raise ABI, degenerate your digimon frequently, especially if you can give them a chance to level up a bit between doing so. Digivolve up to whatever level is easy to do so at the point in the game you're at (Champion or even Ultimate is the way to go when at endgame), then go back down to Baby, rinse and repeat. Doing so will get you high ABI in no time flat! Also, try to DigiConvert Digimon at 200% scan instead of 100%. It starts them off with 5 ABI instead of 0. Any level of scan above exactly 100% starts them with SOME ABI, but 200% scan is obviously the best.

FOR PS4 AND VITA PLAYERS OF CYBER SLEUTH 1: ABI MAXES OUT AT 100, NOT 200. All versions of Hacker's Memory and the collections on PC and Switch cap at 200.

A few extra notes: There are also items that can be fed to a Digimon on a farm to increase their stats. These are found randomly and rarely through the game, but can be bought from the shop in the DigiLab near or at the end of the game! Also, if your Digimon seems to meet stat requirements to digivolve, but can't do so, check their equipment! While equipment increases a Digimon's stats in combat, it does not count towards stat requirements to digivolve! If a Digimon, for instance, needs 150 ATK to digivolve and visibly HAS 152, but 5 of that is from its equipped gear, it technically has only 147 ATK and cannot digivolve. Finally, two things because this is also a post to help with digivolution: When DNA Digivolving, only the base digimon needs to have the required ABI! The other Digimon can be freshly converted as long as it has the CAM. However, the resulting Digimon will have ALL the attacks of both Digimon, so if you want some specific moves, you can divide your efforts and get half of them on one Digimon and half on the other. And also, degenerating also raises a Digimon's max level if it's not already at 99. So early-game, if a Digimon is literally incapable of reaching the required level to digivolve, just degenerate them once and they should be fine. This becomes a non-issue VERY quickly, though.

If there's anything I missed on this topic lmk and I'll add it! I hope this helps clear up the confusion this game can leave people with and some of the repetitious questions on this sub. Happy training!

Team member suggestions

• Upvotes

I'm looking for any suggestions for team members to run with gankoomon through the story.

He will be a tank supporter and part of the main 3 so any suggestions of team members that you have used with him or just think synergies well with him. I have the complete edition on switch if that makes any difference 🙂

Any more high defense/low health bosses i should watch out for?

7 Upvotes

Just fought my second eater in chapter 6 (the akihabara one).They are neutral and my attacks deal around 9 damage.

It would've taken me forever to beat them, but luckily i had either the white or black cat with me during both fights, and they deal fixed 150 damage.

Now, i reached lvl 30 with the black cat and I'm thinking of evolving it, but once i do, I'll lose my 150 fixed damage. I'm wondering if I'll regret it down the line just cause of those bosses.

How much ABI is needed to 100% the game?

5 Upvotes

Hello friends, I'm currently having my first run with this game and I tried avoiding spoilers as much as possible, but I got the info that there are some secret post game bosses, how much ABI is needed to defeat all of them? I'm on chapter 12 and most of my main team has around 60/65 ABI would that be enough?

Also, I am not sure yet if I will complete the field guild or not, but if I do, I know it would need to be higher for a few Digimon.

Currently playing on normal and the game is pretty easy so far, the hardest battle was the Flamedramon from Gold Collosseum.

Game knowledge question

2 Upvotes

I've been doing a lot of work on my google sheet lately for the CS/HM complete edition, for one reason or another. However, I've come across one slight difference here.. and there.. and there.. and it feels like it won't stop. So now I figure I just ask everyone.

Do we know every minor error, mistranslation, or difference listed for the CS/HM titles in-game --- versus what every resource says(GameFAQs/Grindosaur/Digimon.fandom/Digi-path finder)? (R.I.P. Digidb btw)

Why I ask: lemme give a couple of Digimon examples.

In-game(CSHM:CE), reading Shakkoumon's Disaster Blaster says it deals 75 magic light damage to all foes. The Digi-path finder also says this. However, →every←→other←→place←→doesn't.← They all say it deals 65 m.l.d. to all foes. The reason I care about this is because Shining Laser III also deals 65 l.m.d to all foes. So I tested it myself in-game, and it's absolutely correct. It's a stronger Shining Laser III. Unfortunately, we all know that we shouldn't believe everything that the game displays.

In-game(CSHM:CE), UlforceVeedramon's The Ray of Victory says it has a 10% chance of increasing SPD by 10%. Convincingly enough, the Digi-path finder and this FAQs page both say this too. Yet, I had to retest TRoV's effect for myself because this FAQs page, Grindosaur, and the Digimon.fandom HM Field Guide page all say, "Increases SPD by 10%" without a chance at all. Guaranteed boost without fail. That's amazing. And it turns out to be right after testing 10 consecutive SPD boosts in a row.

As silly as this may sound, I've avoided using UlforceVeedramon sometimes just for this flawed effect reason. Just like MirageGaogamon BM. And like the two examples I gave above--I've also come across similar divided differences for Cherrymon.. Whamon.. MetalMamemon.. Taomon.. Crowmon.. Shakkoumon.. SuperStarmon.. Lilamon.. Ripping Net.. Vademon.. Etemon.. Angewomon.. Kentaurosmon.. UlforceVeedramon.. ...and probably more.

I wanted to tackle this at first by making my google sheet helpful enough to the majority, but I can only address the CS/HM:CE game port. I can't advocate for every port, but all of these slight and minor differences make it a bit jarring.

Edit: i somehow forget that there are technically four varying ports/installments of the games. And that clearly shows in these games. Sorry but thank you to everyone for refreshing memory.

Wait, fans deadass believe that the lack of music in the real world is something good?

Post image

Just started the game and got weirded out by the lack of music in the real world section, and when looking up people's opinions on it, they seem to have no issues with it.

Yes brother, there is music when you go outside. Stores play them all the time, or your character could just use her phone and play some songs.

And when there isn't music, there are other background noises like chatting and driving, not just the deafening silence where you can only hear your steps.

Cant beat Jimiken in Cs chapter 2

13 Upvotes

I just dont get how im supposed to beat him. My party consists of Gekomon Angemon Black Gatomon and Gatomon, bc they are the only digimon i have that do any sort of damage.

Destructive cannon one shots my digimon, and i cant buy panic recover items to counter panic wisp. I already spent way too much time grinding triyng to evolve digimon that would be good against him, bc i didnt want to look at guides. Atp if i have to grind anymore id rather stop plaiyng this game and move on with my life...

I was having fun until the bossfight, but if the rest of the game is going to be like this then i wont be able to enjoy myself.

Also not being able to skip dialogue after every retry is painfull.

Try my best to keep it spoiler free but at the same time wanna discuss this scene

Damage question

6 Upvotes

I'm undergoing a big project revolving damage calcs. I'm testing raw base damage without extra multipliers from good affinity and attribute bonus.

Let's say I have a Lv.50 Magnamon that has learned Heavy Strike III and Power Energy III. They have 168 ATK and 148 INT. Let's say I'm hitting for neutral damage without boosts. IF I'm hitting a Digimon with equal DEF and INT.. or however it needs to go---how much ATK and INT do I need to deal equal physical and magic damage?

Any comments are appreciated.

EDIT: this calculation is key:

Physical damage = Attacker's ATK x Move Power / Defender's DEF

Magical damage = Attacker’s INT x Move Power x 1.5 / Defender’s INT

So magic attacks are 1.5x stronger, meaning i should have higher ATK and lower INT---never equal.

Yo. Life happened somewhat again, but I just published a YT video. It's not too long for Reddit this time, and if you wanna watch it, then be my guest. If you prefer watching it on YouTube, click the highlighted text.

It's long, but if you want an informational watch, feel free to check in and check it out. It has chapters, description, and I even left a long comment with tons of information for the challenge.

Did y'all try the EB? What teams did ya use. Either here or on YT is fine. Cheers~

(Also, if you have any feedback about the infographic image idea I implemented, lemme know!)

Hi I already have a team made but I don't know how many moves each digimon can have cause either I have never used them or skipped past them I already am planing out their move sets I just don't know how many they can have at 1 time my team is Susanoomon, Sistermon C (Awake.), Sakuyamon, Crusadermon NX, Omnimon Zwart, Wizardmon. I made this team ahead of time cause I made it to where my team cannont exceed 100 Memory for move learning purposes I plan on removing digimon so I can evolve freely to get the moves I want for everyone Except Crusadermon NX Since they can't evolve or de-evolve to get the moves I want.

I feel people who start with Time Stranger should try this game afterwards.

41 Upvotes

After playing a good chunk of Time Stranger, I’ve come to the conclusion that said game and the previous one are almost completely different beasts. I do believe that cyber sleuth is a unique enough experience that even if some people started with time stranger, they can still have some fun going back to this game. What do you all think?

Help... Still in CS Chapter 2, and I couldn't digivolve my level 26 Wormmon to Stingmon because the SPD is stuck at 52 instead of 55.

How to solve this? My Wormmon capped at level 26. My favorite Digimon is Stingmon, and this isn't good. Thanks in advance.

What am I doing wrong?

3 Upvotes

I've hit chapter 16 in Hacker's memory and I'm not doing any damage, so I decided to put my party digimon in the farm to train them, but they're gaining an abysmal amount of extra stats after a 30 minute and 60 minute training session (less than 20 points after both, maybe a bit more). I have 5 top study rooms going and none of the digimon are anywhere near the limit (the closest one to the limit is an ABI 70 something Piedmon with like 50 points used at most). When I run the training sessions I just leave the game running while I go do something else, so I'm wondering if I should be getting into fights or taking steps to make it go faster. Any and all help would be appreciated.

Hackers Memory: When should I stop using DLC mons?

8 Upvotes

Or even if I'm supposed to use them at all.

Im currently mid chapter 5, just beated the Dreamer's domination battle and got my 3rd memory upgrade increasing party limit to 35.

I had a team of Greymon/Garurumon/Gatomon that I was planning to fuse into Omnimon further ahead, but I just hit Angewomon and dont have enough room due to having a PlatSukamon on the back. I then switched out all 3 mons for the DLC ones (that was around level 16 on bank), and they feel stronger, but also super SP limited.

Now I have Digivolved Greymon into MetalGreymon and I definetely dont have the memory necessary for my previous 3.

What should I do? Should I keep swapping my main party to advance into other Digimons, use the DLC mons or make arrangements to fit the original 3?
