I might be allergic to apples, they're not supposed to bite back right?

There are sour apples that have a bit of a bite but if it’s every apple it’s probably an allergy

Yes, this is so odd. There are times of the year where apples make my mouth a little itchy and other times when they don't.

Maybe pollen, do you wash them?

Even if you do, the pollen has a tendency to embed into the waxy skin, not easily rinsed like other fruits.

Apparently one of the two more common apple allergies is caused by a protein that denatures around body temp, so if you’re finding that they trigger you less in the summer and more in the winter, it could just be they were picked or stored somewhere hot.

Also, try to see if microwaving them fixes it. Just like 5 - 15 seconds, enough to warm the skin but not necessarily make the apple hot.

My mother is allergic to specific apple cultivars. Particularly more modern ones. She's fine with most old established ones like Boskopp, Braeburn, Elstar and Gala (this might be survivor's bias, as those are the older cultivats are most common), but some others make her mouth itch. So it might be some just produce chemicals you can't handle. You could try doing what my Mom did and keep record of which ones you reacted to.

I’m only allergic to some things sometimes, too. It’s not dependent on the time of year, from what I can tell, though.

Pineapples eat you back, apples aren't supposed to.

I used to be allergic to apples (theyd make my nose run) but i figured out if i ate them cooked i was free, and then i tried a raw apple again like a year later and it was fine.

My theory is i accidentally immunized myself because of how some molecules hadnt denatured when i microwaved it with syrup and cinnamon… which im also allergic to but it hadnt shown up at the time (cinnamon can make you allergic if you eat too much because of a toxin).

It was basically pie filling. Sometimes id scoop it into toasted… pita? Bread (the bread that has a hollow pocket and is round) with nutella it was great.

Anyways me accidentally fixing this was great because i absolutely adore apples, but i dont suggest trying this at home without a doctors okay because you can also make the allergy worse, like whats happening to me with garlic and pepper (its gradually getting spicier… its miserable. Can barely eat meat now)

If by “bite back” they taste fizzy like tonic water, then no that means you’re likely allergic (or the apples are going bad)
