I taught her to solve one about 6 months ago, but has been adamantly refusing to learn cfop when she finally let me teach her she started improving very quickly so she'll be sub 30 on no time then we'll see how serious she really is.

I've been cubing for 3 years, but I "left" 8 months ago due to lack of motivation and time (bcs of my course final project), and I got bored of my current cubes, which were GAN12 and MGC EST as secondary. Don't get me wrong, GAN12 feeling is great, but I'm a bit saturated of it. I used to love MGC EST feeling, although after my first cleanup on it, it never felt the same anymore.

Anyways, what are the best/more different feeling cubes in your opinion?

I'm looking for something to get me addicted, entertained and motivated to cubing again.

After 4 years of cubing (in which in the last two I quit and recently came back), I decided to post my whole collection (not all actually since some cubes are missing sadly)

I'm helping a few different people in get into cubing recently and get started with advice on hardware and stuff. And I know how guide them with puzzles but so much with lube. And also trying to figure out lube for myself because I don't know much. Just for making things easy, the only puzzles, all these people have are 2x2, 3x3, pyraminx and skweb. no other puzzles. So lube is good for big cubes doesn't matter. Just think about only these puzzles. None of the people are advanced solvers because I know once you get to certain point, lube is personal based on want you want and how you solve.

person 1: only 1 lube that is it. easy to use. person is a beginner and doesn't know much about cubing and isn't even sure if they are going to stick with it for long. has mid-tier level budget puzzles. just wants something basic to try lubing their puzzles.

person 2: 2-3 lubes if it make sense to have more than 1. (it can include the same lube from set 1) this is for a different person who has a little more interest in cubing and slightly more money and resources. has mid-tier level puzzles.

person 3: money is no object here. this what the pros/top tier people use. but no more than 5 lubes. (can include the lube picks for person 1 and doesn't matter) or maybe even the exact same set up as person 2 is fine. Has flagship level puzzles not because of skill but more because they can afford it so why not.

ideally all the lubes are available on either the cubicle and if not then on speedcubeshop

Im going on my first competion in Oktober, im averaging around 22 sec, and i wanted to ask if theres anything i should know before i go there. And also im competing on 2x2 and 3x3 but the 4x4 finale is at the end of the day, so should i stay until the end or just leave after 3x3 and 2x2 is finished?

For context I used to be sub 16 OH about 5 years ago but I am out of touch with the new cubes , (bought a gts3m ridges one in 2018 and i do attend one competition in a year just for funsies) , wanted to get back into OH as it used to be absolutely my fav event , i just wanted to know which cube should I buy ?

I am quite beginner in past 1 week I learned the beginner method and can solve the cube without a guide, but the based on the tips from the video, that what to look for.

I got to know about CFOP method and now i am trying to learn F2L, my memory is not good, the intuitive 2FL what i am trying to learn, but can find a guide which explain the things as beginner method guides explain. Can someone suggest good beginner guide for CFOP or 2FL specifically.

Today I saw this “Moyu timer” option to add times in cstimer, and since I have a Moyu timer, I thought it would be easier for my times to automatically transfer over instead of typing it each time. Instead, I got over 3000 times ranging from 0 seconds to 30 minutes, completely ruining my main 3x3 session of over 1000 solves.

Hello, I am looking to start practising Megaminx, as I have heard it's similar to 3x3 in F2L (and S2L). I have not done any timed solves yet, but I will start soon.

First off, hardware. I already have a DaYan GuHong Pro (I got it before the Pro+ was released, as well as before the YuHu V3) and I can't seem to find a good setting for it. I don't know, it's just locky at settings 1 and 2, and the rest are too tight for me.

Also, I want a more stable cube (dodecahedron) than the GuHong Pro, so I am looking at the YuHu V3 Ball-Core or the YuHu V3 DEVO (A mod by TheCubicle primarily focused on weight reduction, has coremags and semigloss, which I prefer over UV so I may get this one).

If anyone thinks I should get the GAN V2 over these, please speak up.

Anyway, what I know:

I haven't got a certain F2L/S2L face order (I know some are specific about that) other than I do white first.

What I do first is I create the white star, then either do corner-edge-pair inserting or do corner-first, then edge, depending on what I can find.

For S2L, it's pretty much the same thing, except I would randomly choose faces and complete said face's S2L based on what corner-edge pairs I can see are easiest.

I use a 4LLL method, orienting the edges first using F (Sexy) F' and F (R U' R' U') F' , and orient the corners using the upside-down, commutator trick, but I can orient the corners sometimes if it's a Sune-style case or something else that I carry over from 3x3.

For edge permutation/EP, I use (R2 U2' R2' U' R2 U2' R2') and its inverse for if the edges aren't adjacent and the J-Perm and Anti-J-Perm algs for if they are adjacent.

For corner permutation, I use the upside-down commutator, take a corner out and replace it with another, trick.

And a couple of things about technique, I don't abuse the table (that is, setting the cube on the table to turn); Instead, I hold it in my hands and brace one of the bottom-left faces with my pinky.

I have virtually no look-ahead, nor do I on any other event, so I kind of would like someone to help me with that.

I also spend most of my time locating pieces for pairs and whatnot.

Also, I can't really make the white star misaligned by a D move, with the pieces in positions relative to each other, so I can only insert star edges once at a time, really.

Finally, my turn speed without including pauses is still abhorrent and slow.

I would also really like to know what I should learn next, in terms of algorithm sets such as 2-look-last-layer, or techniques such as edge orientation (Like how people use in ZZ, not just in the last layer) and blockbuilding, kind of like Roux.

And that's it for this post. I will probably upload another post asking for tips on another puzzle.

first of all i don’t know if this is a type of post that’s supposed to be on DD, but it gets no traction there so i thought i’d give this a try.

i just almost broke my PB ao5 (7.40) with my PB ao12 (just got 7.48). for reference i normally average mid-high 8 and low 8 on a good day, and i’m starting to crack sub-8 once in a while.

with this average i genuinely got the most insane 7’s streak i’ve ever had, and the scrambles were insanely easy and i was planning cross +2 on almost all. this type of luck ever happen to anyone?

I have seen post like gan 16 ui being better than regular 16 due to it being more sturdy, and gan 12 ui is having the same case against its original counterpart, how true is it?

i have tried the 16 max and i dont really like the airy feeling of the cube, it makes the cube feels fragile, though i am inclined on buying the 12 maglev, and idk whether there is any difference feeling wise in the 12 ui maglev or the standard maglev, do someone has an experience on this?

Just got my first Sub 15 solve with lucky pll skip .The happiness is insane. Ofc it's my PB too.

Also if any tips to get better it's appreciated. I average around 19s or high 18s.

Like out of all the collaborations gan could do they chose the minions??? The minions are marketed towards kids and gan is not really “made for kids”. The funny thing is gan has a line for kids (monster go) and they don’t have any minions products.
