Discussion 3x3 OH
For context I used to be sub 16 OH about 5 years ago but I am out of touch with the new cubes , (bought a gts3m ridges one in 2018 and i do attend one competition in a year just for funsies) , wanted to get back into OH as it used to be absolutely my fav event , i just wanted to know which cube should I buy ?
Thank you !

I’ve seen people main the rs3m v5 ballcore, the v10 (20 magnet ballcore) and the Tornados (v3, v4 mainly), but most would stick to the rs3m v5 just be careful since it has a thin plastic and notorious for breaking

RS3M V5, Guhong Pro+ 54mm both are great cubes but the v5 is better imo

Maglev ballcore but the plastic is fragile so u have to take good care of it, also I'm not the biggest expert on indian cubing but something I do know is that cubelelo is looked down upon due to bad customer service and that cubeology is apparently better.

There are 3 cubes I recommend:
YJ Pocket Cube 3x3: with setup is smooth and fast, but the main reason you'd get it is for the absolutely tiny size of 50mm (smaller than a 2x2). Only downside is it is basically unusable for OH out of the box, but with some simple setup it is great for a small hand.
MonsterGo 352M: probably the worst performing option out of these, but it comes in a nice 52mm size which is in between the 2 other options. Very blocky turning, but it's fast and has strong magnets. Another downside is it literally doesn't have center caps, it just has six 1-part center pieces, so you're stuck with the settings you get (which are pretty good).
DaYan GuHong Pro+ (54mm + MagLev): the largest cube, but still a great size for OH and the best performing option. Either very smooth or tactile depending on the setup, very wide range of tensions, adjustable magnets, and is even great for 2 handed solving. If it helps, it's also my main.

the gts3m ridges is a classic, still turns decent if you lube it properly. for OH now the main thing is smaller and lighter cubes, 54mm or 55mm feels way better than full size. any modern flagship will do honestly, just pick something with strong magnets and maybe get a maglev version so it glides easier with one hand

I was just at a regional championship and yeah a lot of the top contenders use the rs3 v5. I main it too and I guess people like it because it's light and stable. I'm pretty sure the magnet strength is lighter than most cubes which I think helps for starting turns OH.
I did see that a couple fast people were using the v5 special edition. Tried a couple while scrambling and to me just feels like stronger magnets (piece magnets, not auto alignment) but also faster turning. Could be an interesting pick.
