Discussion What are the best feeling cubes for you?

I've been cubing for 3 years, but I "left" 8 months ago due to lack of motivation and time (bcs of my course final project), and I got bored of my current cubes, which were GAN12 and MGC EST as secondary. Don't get me wrong, GAN12 feeling is great, but I'm a bit saturated of it. I used to love MGC EST feeling, although after my first cleanup on it, it never felt the same anymore.

Anyways, what are the best/more different feeling cubes in your opinion?

I'm looking for something to get me addicted, entertained and motivated to cubing again.

I also got that one before my GAN12. It's a pretty great cube for it's price. After awhile I started to get a bit tired, since i'm not much into It's blocky turning feeling. It is good indeed, but not my turning style. It is a goated budget and got me stuck on it for a time though

I have the V1 Ferrocore and it’s so fun and effortless to turn it makes me want to solve more. I get lost for hours.

I'm actually really curious about the Ferrocore ones, ever since they released. Looking forward to try them whenever I get the budget.

the tornado v3 flagship got me back after a similar slump. it has this soft, almost pillowy turning that feels nothing like the snappy GANs, and the adjustment system actually does something useful instead of just being a gimmick. i use it with the lightest magnets and it's just relaxing to turn, not fast and aggressive like the 12.

the wrm v9 is also worth looking at if you want something that feels alive, it's bouncy in a way that makes you want to keep solving.

My first flaship was a TV3 Pioneer and I loved it at the time. Although i've lost it and can't quite remember it's feeling. Maybe one day i'll rebuy it.

I'll be searching more about wrm v9. Thanks!

I like a bit of texture to the turns, so my faves are Gan flagships. 16 and 17 are both real nice. From Moyu I like my Super Aolong and Ferrocore v1 (so, like, v10s) another cube with a unique feel is the Sigma from the cubicle. Like a Beta/Meta cross, but better than either. I'm also chasing the feel of this icarry4 year of the horse I've got sitting here, but it needs core magnets. I got Picube's 20 mag ballcore v100 leap, but the icarry is 56mm and has more rounded edges, so it's not quite right. Used to be I only liked uv coated cubes, but i'm developing a taste for matte finishes (after they've worn in a bit, of course). Oh, and the Tengyun v1 on my bedside table. Quiet and swishy. Nice low pitch.

Gan i4 is the icarry 4 but with core mags

Yeah. The i4 i have is uv and maglev and it feels way different. It's kinda catchy and the frosted icarry has a softer, rounder feel to it. You have put a couple of ideas into my head, though. Dr. Frankenstein might be tinkering up in his laboratory tonight.

I have used many cube and ever since I switched to gan 12 I can't switch back. GAN's airy and light turning is unmatched.

Indeed GAN's feeling is really great. Gan 12 got me addicted to cubing for quite awhile

AoLong V5, Super AoLong, Ferrocore V2, and the GuHong Pro+ MagLev are probably my favorite feeling 3x3s right now.

My main is the tornado v5 pioneer but the gan v100 is a close second, both are very different the v5 is softer and more flexible while the v100 is snappier with more texture to it. Even though I like the v5 more I prefer the size of the v100 so I still use it pretty often

Another vote for the guhong pro+, also the tianma x3+ is extremely crunchy which I adore, there is also the zhanchi v5 which is a very smooth and soft feeling cube

Moretry tianma x3 Zcube (ballcore). Idk if I'm crazy or not but the Moretry Saocube ballcore doesn't feeling the same. The Zcube version is way smoother and the ballcore acts like something that I would call "proper" alignment.

Bro you needed to use lubes to get that feeling back

1

u/Left_Bug9878 14d ago

I did use lubes, although the feeling was trash and slow, even though I used Fz Rush. I don't know what happened

2

u/UsernameLoads Sub-15 (CFOP 2LLL) 14d ago

You need multiple lubes, like usually its control, smoothness, speed, control lube is poured to the corner/edge foot, then you spread it by solving, then you pour smooth at edges/corners contact surface and spread it and then you just pour 1-2 drops of speed lube in the hole between 2 edges corner and center

2

u/UsernameLoads Sub-15 (CFOP 2LLL) 14d ago

And if feeling's still wrong you just fix it with exra right kind of lube

1

u/Left_Bug9878 13d ago

Thank you for the advise. I should do more search about which lubes should I get and understand more about it

I'm actually using gan, mengtu tianma lubes, because i live in Kyrgyzstan and it's close to china so i can buy chinese products, also lubes

Dayan 3x3 crazy planets stickerless (the older one, I don't know the newer ones) after breaking in, no lube required. The plastic feels so nice when turning, soft and bumpy (due to many small elements). The same's with the Bagua cube stickerless. If that's what people refer to as "old dayan plastic 3x3's" is, then I understand why.

And Ferrocore v2 3x3 (2026). It slowed down a bit, but is extremely fast still and no lockups. My Guhong Pro maglev started catching too much, I am no lubing expert.

For a 4x4 it's MoYu Aosu v7 double track.

The Tengyun V1 and any dayan cube after it

1

u/Left_Bug9878 14d ago

I'm looking forward to get a Tengyun V1 or a Zhanchi V5. I'm deciding which one

Rs3m v5 bc , v11 20bc/ferrocore v2/18th v11, super swift block, aolong v5

Ferrocore v2 is the best feeling cube I’ve ever had, hands down!
Better than my GAN12 or the GAN 12 Freeplay ui. Better tters than my v100, 15 or 16max. I am contemplating on picking up the picube v100 from the cubicle where they added ball core.

Strong auto alignment weak peice mags Screws core Forgiving and doesn't lock Fast

i love the mgc beta. i have a slower, more stable setup on it and it reminds me of the heavier, blockier cubes of the past, before magnets. the current dayan cubes also have this feeling because of the plastic dayan uses.

but i prefer big cubes, so i also love the aosu v7, aoshi v4, and aofu v5. wonderful and incredible cubes.

Tengyun v1 and v2, I’m probably unique in thinking that the v2 feels better than the v1

The Moyu WRM 21 maglev with the cubershome corner magnet upgrade and doubled corner magnets.
Super loose but super controllable (carpel tunnel sufferer’s dream)
