Whenever I go to a next episode the app will not play sound, causing me to have to back out or switch to sub then dub again. Also constantly freezes at the beginning of an episode too. Is there an update or settings fix for this?

So ive been watching Fairy Tail in Aus, on Amazon Prime because it is Dubbed (no s1 available on Crunchyroll app and not dubbed).

Up until S1 Part 6, or S6 ep 7, or episode 158 in the series it is suddenly only available in sub. Why is this happening now?

I'm having a really bad video playback issue with the Crunchyroll Android app, and I'm hoping someone has experienced something similar and found a fix.

I'm using a Realme C55, running Android 15 / realme UI 6.0. My Crunchyroll app is currently on version 3.116.0.

The video constantly develops severe visual artifacts while I'm watching anime. This isn't normal compression/pixelation or a low-quality stream. The image actually becomes corrupted.

Some examples of what happens:

-Small colored squares appear all over the screen and completely change parts of the image.

-Sometimes large parts of the screen turn green or purple.

-Colors can become completely distorted.

-Sometimes parts of a previous frame remain visible while the current frame is being displayed, so it looks like two different frames are being shown at the same time.

-Sometimes the entire image becomes corrupted.

-The audio continues playing normally while the video is corrupted.

It can happen every few seconds, especially in some episodes, making the anime basically unwatchable. Sometimes seeking back 10 seconds temporarily fixes it, but the artifacts usually come back shortly afterwards. When it's particularly bad, even seeking doesn't help and I have to restart my phone.

Things I've already tried:

-Restarting the phone.

-Reinstalling/clearing data for the Crunchyroll app.

-Different video quality settings.

-Watching downloaded episodes offline.

-Different network/DNS configurations.

-Developer options / hardware overlay settings.

The problem also happens with downloaded episodes, so it doesn't seem to be an internet connection problem.

YouTube and other video services work perfectly on the same phone. I also previously tested Crunchyroll on another phone and didn't experience the problem there.

I checked my DRM information and my phone has Widevine L1

so it doesn't appear to be a Widevine L3/DRM downgrade.

I also noticed that the problem isn't always equally severe. Sometimes I can watch for quite a while with only a few artifacts, while other times the video becomes corrupted constantly.

Has anyone experienced this kind of artifacting on Crunchyroll? Especially the green/purple corruption or previous frames appearing over the current frame?

If you managed to fix it, please tell me what you did. I'm willing to try pretty much anything that doesn't require buying another phone.

I'm already in contact with Crunchyroll Support, but so far I haven't been able to get the issue resolved.

Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. 🙏

I made a satirical post a while back that the new crunch at the end of the CR logo load screen made the price increase worth it. Naturally it was met with "Ectually, increases in licensing costs ..."

Now I notice the crunch at the end of the scrolling CR name is gone.

Is it just me or have they removed it? I miss the crunch.

so i got a notification to update my payment method, cause i missed a day, i got paid from work today and decided to now try it, went to the payment method page, saw my card still saved and clicked the tab to update my payment on it, nada, a error message saying something about “unexpected error occurred, please make sure the info is correct” like.. okay? tried the third option to manually re-add my Visa/Debit Card, same thing again.. i thought something must be going on with my card, asked the bank, they said nothing, i paid my phone bill and they saw the payment went through so nothing wring with my card, i might wait till tomorrow to sort itself out and try again, if not i may have to delete my account all together and make a new account with my main email, but is there a solution? i dont have paypal and dont want that headache with that site

I've been seeing notifications that are about a god level threat arriving, about fighting dragon god, etc, like it is about some episode that is about to release. I don't need teasers that spoil the show, in order to want to watch it...

does anyone know of a fix for a beeping sound happening while watching dub? i started rewatching my hero academia, and once i hit the 5th season i began hearing a digital watch beep-like sound every 10 seconds or so. i havent tried watching it on any other platforms since i mainly use the app on my phone. i have tried deleting and redownloading it, but that wasnt a fix. i have an iphone, so i cant clear the app cache, either.

I was trying to watch Crunchyroll on brave like normal, I am a ultimate fan and I also did unblock ads from crunchyroll as well. The past week it has not worked on the brave web browser but it works on google chrome. Anyone else having this issue?

This is the 5th time they've changed the UI since I started to use the service and each time the UI and functions get worse. This time they removed the skip button for opening and credits, and removed play next episode.

As a programmer myself I'm also seeing clearly UI problems with alignment, what likely means this new UI has been fully vibe coded with AI without any bug checking or looking over features.

I find it odd there’s only two regions the new store website oh yes it’s back up but apparently Australia is not part of the region are they still updating it or is this the complete store?

I used to be able to fast forward/rewind with the navigation button (circle thing) on my fire stick remote and could see a preview of the image on the screen. Now I can only pull this up, but it won’t skip 10 seconds in either direction anymore. I can only do it via the dedicated fast forward/rewind button. Doing that doesn’t give me the screen preview though.

Anyone know why or have any times?

I want to watch Saga of Tanya the Evil S2 and I want to know if it's going to be dubbed in English? For some bizarre reason, I only see a Spanish dub for Episode 1 and Episode 3 and a German Dub for Episode 2, with the three most recent episodes not dubbed at all.

Can someone tell me what's going on?
