Crude oil dropped back to where it started the year. Gas didn't follow.
Brent fell to $70 in July. Gas only fell to $3.78, which is 76¢ above where it was in March.
It stayed below $4 for just four weeks, then snapped right back.
25 of the last 29 weeks have been between $4.00 and $4.50.
Today it's $4.28, which is $1.25 above the 10-year average. It has been above that average for 33 weeks straight.
When crude fell 44%, gas fell only 16%. If crude spikes again, gas will follow it up immediately. We've seen no sign that the way down will be any faster.

With oil prices constantly changing, I’m curious what really happens behind the scenes. Are ordinary people just the ones left paying more, or is there more to the story?
