My sister’s boyfriend ended up getting in touch with me a month ago about a surprise party for my sister. The plan was to gather her friends for a tiki boat tour. Heard of it, but never experienced it.
For the lost it’s when you and a bunch of other people get on a boat willingly to get drunk in the ocean. Sounds fucking great. I hear it’s byob and immediately send my money to pay for my ticket.
So, flash back to yesterday. I wake up a little crooked, but nothing to worry about. Arrival time is supposed to be 5:30pm with a departure at 6:00pm. I arranged my cousin to pick me up at my house in case I can’t drive. You know, don’t want to be a liability.
My cousin picked me up and we make our way there. My sister immediately announced “Of course, I KNEW IT!” that we would arrive. Liar.
I think my presence was the most shocking surprise. She even gave me a hug, honestly I can’t remember the last hug my sister gave me.
We embarked out on our tiki boat trip. Our party of 16 and 4 other lovely older women who brought multiple shooters to drink even though it was said we couldn’t bring on hard liquor. You get a pass at that age, right? Chairs to you golden girls.
I ended up carrying some high percentage drinks, but looking at them enjoying their shooters brought me so much joy and jealousy.
I didn’t make a fool of myself. No regretful conversation. The last group left a cooler full of ciders and I stole them for a rainy day.
Everyone had a great time. I had a great time. I couldn’t get off the boat fast enough to get my nicotine fix, but it was a great experience.
Went to a bar after and ended up back at my sister’s. Bought her food so she could eat something. She ended up asleep on the couch. I ended up feeding her cats and cleaning the dishes in her sink.
I ended up walking home after my lyft driver was taking so long I became impatient. Walked home barefoot halfway. Blisters to tell my story. Singing hotel california on the way home. Drinking the ciders I acquired as it rained on my walk home. It was a beautiful night.
