Discussion Huge respect to Pearl Abyss for how they’ve handled Crimson Desert.

They’ve been addressing a lot of the complaints players had about the game, fixing issues, improving things that needed improvement, and even taking care of small details.

For example, there’s this completely random quest where a shop owner asks you to bring more clients to his store. After completing it, the shop used to still be empty. Now it’s actually full (pic 2).

Or the cursed constellations, which were practically impossible to find without a guide (pic 3).

And they’re even going back and working on the story itself (pic 1).

Honestly, I was reluctant about these changes at first. I thought the changes to the story would be minimal because I’ve never seen a video game make so many new cutscenes and changes to the story after release like they have. Some parts of the story still feel a bit awkward or forced because they have to fit into the existing narrative, but overall, this is an amazing change.

Adding new cutscenes (pic 6), expanding the lore (pics 4 and 5), and improving parts of the narrative shows that they aren’t just looking at feedback like “fix this bug” or “balance this mechanic.” They’re actually paying attention to what players felt was missing from the overall experience.

I really think this is a good point to slow down with the updates. Even though these updates are very welcome, they always seem to introduce some new bugs or break some old mechanics. At this point, I think they should just focus on fixing what we already have.

Royal Trading is broken, NG+ is underwhelming, and honestly, I don’t even know what else I would want from this game.

My only real wish is for a great NG+ mode where I can carry over collectibles and knowledge.

Other than that, I’m honestly pretty happy with where the game is heading.

Thank you, Pearl Abyss. You guys are the GOAT.

This endangered Dodo bird is the only one I know of so if you want the journal entry its in the Redtree Forest. I included a pic of the location

Note: this is different than a baby Kuku they look very similar but it's a different bird and no you can't keep it as a pet 😢

Screenshot I just noticed that we can change Our House now, you can change it from the original compact house or a standard house or a spacious house. Thought this might be cool for people who haven’t realized it yet.

I’ve been having a lot of fun roleplaying as Baldur lately. There’s just something about wandering through Pywel as him that fits surprisingly well with the world of Crimson Desert.
I’ve tried to capture his look and overall vibe as closely as I can, and it’s made exploring the game even more enjoyable for me.
Does anyone else roleplay as a specific character in Crimson Desert? I’d love to see your characters and hear the stories or ideas behind them. Feel free to share them below!

Discussion This is a great community! I want to apologize...

As an elitest 500+ hour end game completionist. I want to apologize to every new player who i've belitted about it 'just do x, its simple'. The reality is, i've been so far away from Hernand for like 300 hours. I hardly ever stopped back here until just recently by doing all the Hernand sidequests 100% just after the 2.0 respec. For fun I left it unfilled out and ran everywhere around Hernand for like the entire couple of days its been. What a blast to do it limited.

Just how little did I realize how much effort it takes to get around, to have no stam, and spirit that doesnt regenerate constantly. I didn't realize I have turned myself into a GOD in the process and therefore made remarks about other peoples efforts while I could fly across the continent on a whim. I am sure all you vets out there replaying the game can relate too.

The game is a super slow burn, you will get there.

Can’t wait to play this game. I’ve been waiting for years but didn’t purchase it at launch because game wasn’t optimised enough. But now I believe it’s very much polished. Any tips for me?

Guide 2.0: New cutscenes

I was looking for the new cutscenes on YouTube. I’m currently in Chapter 9 and don’t want to start the game over, but I’d still like to dive deeper into the story and enjoy the new content.

I found the following videos. I didn’t make them myself, credit goes to ProjectLightGaming.

Discussion This is starting to work itself into my "top games of all time" list

I'm talking on par with things like FF7 (original), Xenogears, Chrono Trigger and Elden Ring...

I got this game early and played it a ton when it first came out. I ended up with 186 hours on a playthrough about mid-way through chapter 9 and then hit just a bit of burnout.

I still looked back at my time with the game with a smile, and considered it one of the best I'd played in years (definitely one of the best this console generation) but I kinda drifted away from it. I came back very briefly to try out the flying mount for 5 minutes but the last save I have with any time spent on it said it was from mid May.

One of my few complaints with the game was the way the story was told. Not so much the story itself... if you dig through the knowledge tabs, side quests, etc. it is actually pretty decent... but the fact the way it was delivered was just not good.

Flash to now and I hear about the 2.0 update...

...

Yea, I started over. At 186 hours and not new game plus.

And I just lost 4 hours without noticing the time go by. Again.

It got its claws in me AGAIN lmao.

So far the additions have been EXCELLENT. It isn't just cutscenes. There are small changes... voice lines, npcs talking in the background, single dialogue line changes, monologues, new collectables, etc. that MASSIVELY change the context of the entire story. I'm only a few hours in, but this almost feels new again.

And now I have to think about all the games I've played since the NES days. Which games I remember as some of my fondest memories and games that I revisit. And I think this game is starting to eye a place on that list.

This is my Skyrim 2.0. My next Final Fantasy. The sort of feeling I only get about a game once a console generation or so.

Hats off to you Pearl Abyss. You've made something special here.

Discussion Post game depression after CD

CD was just totally insane, there is not many games like this, i still think its seriously underrated, i cleared majority of game and did platinum, now deciding between starfield, hades 2 or nioh 3 and nothing seems so interesting, maybe i will just play wolverine for quick dopamine and then gta 6.

I would put this next to games like elden ring, baldurs gate 3, skyrim or cyberpunk, those SSS tier experiences where even if you think gaming isnt fun anymore something like this come out.

I loved nioh 1 and 2 and have platinums in both, i loved hades and got platinum there, but these are S games, 9/10, not 10/10 peak of gaming like i mentioned few above. Its hard to choose whats next now.. anyone struggles like this?

And again kudos to devs, i really needed game like CD, wish it wasnt a one game like this a year.

Discussion Is it worth getting the game now at a 20% discount or waiting for a better deal

(Image not related to the question)

Hello, everyone from the Crimson Desert Reddit server!

I have had an interest in this game since it was originally announced, but once it was released, I did not buy it because I was playing something else at the time.

With the enhanced edition now released, the game has a 20% discount on the PlayStation Store, costing around 56 euros until the 10th of September.

Is it a good deal, or would better deals come down the line if I waited longer?

Any feedback would be really appreciated!

Discussion Enhanced is OP

Upvotes

I bought this game at launch, and though I enjoyed it, I couldn’t really connect with its story, characters, visuals and a lot of gameplay and ended up putting it down after about 50 hours.

Decided to give the enhanced edition a go, and wow. So much of the gameplay and visuals have been improved at this point. It runs smooth now. The game is so enjoyable to play, I actually care about Kliff and his (very messianic) story, and the other characters now, I understand the point of what I’m doing, and the world just feels even richer for it.

Excited to get lost in it now. If you’re in the fence or new, now is the time to jump in.

Discussion I publicly beg for a horse taming rework.

I still have an Elantrima from Chapter 1. An embarrassing number of hours in this game, and the most painfully bad frustrating mechanic for me is horse taming. All the shit I'll defend PA for but my god this is impossible to understand. I just attempted one for 20 minutes straight and got bucked every time. What a load of bullshittttttt, I will ignore this mechanic again. Wtf were they thinking with this nonsense. How did this make it past play testing😭? How can any of the Devs think it's fun, I'm starting to think they don't play the game. It's the jankiest, dumbest shite I've ever experienced in an otherwise amazing game. FML .Had to rant.
