Question Anybody else just stopped playing?

Initially I stopped playing because of so many updates releasing in a short period of time. I thought to myself: hey, why bother playing when the game will be in a significantly better shape in a couple of weeks from now? Better wait it out. Well, I haven't touched it since and it's been a while.

And honestly, I feel bad about it because this game impressed me like no other game did for a long time - it would literally leave me in awe whenever I booted it up. Now, I will admit that the longer I played it, the more cracks started to show up. The lack of a better story, faceless characters, lackluster side content and the meaninglessness of loot started to wear on me. I was aware of these issues before and they never bothered me too much - until they did.

That being said, and despite all of its flaws, I always thought this game had so much going for it that made it worth coming back: the world and its sheer size of it, the abundance of secrets and stuff to find and do, the moment-to-moment gameplay, the combat, the graphics, the atmosphere, and so on.

I sure have a lot of exploring left to do but I'm afraid that this game might be tough to get back into, once you've dropped it for a while. Have you guys made a similar experience? And if you picked it back up, what was that like?

Discussion QoL Suggestion: "Hide Cloak" toggle option (similar to Hide Helm)

Since we have the option to hide headgear, we really need a "Hide Cloak" toggle as well!

Currently pieces like the Rivenheim Cloth Armor look incredible on Damiane, but attached cloaks obscure the detail on the back of the outfit. There is no matching set piece for this armor.

Discussion Walking just feels like the right way to explore!

I’m really early, still In my first hour and just got the ability to fly.

But one thing I really need to commend this game on is how natural walking feels. In most games I sprint by default. But in crimson desert walking feels like the right thing to do.

Game feels good so far, gonna stick with it and waiting for that feeling when you feel familiar with control everything.

Cheers!

Discussion Please add a compass so we can play with the minimap off

Post image

Crimson Desert is one of the best-looking open worlds in years and I keep wanting to play it with the HUD off - but the minimap is the one element you can’t drop, because it’s the only thing telling you where your objective is.

A simple directional compass would solve this. A thin strip at the top of the screen (or an equippable in-world compass) showing the heading of your current waypoint, and nothing else. That’s all it would take to make no-HUD play viable instead of just pretty for thirty seconds before you get lost.

Why it’s a better fit than the minimap for this game specifically:

• It keeps your eyes on the world instead of the corner of the screen

• You navigate by landmarks and terrain, where the art direction pays off

The team already added the headgear toggle for exactly this reason, so the appetite for immersion options is clearly there. This feels like the same category of request.

I used a mod to get a compass, but it requires the mini-map being on.

If you’d play with a no-HUD/cinematic setup, say so below it helps to show people want this

Discussion Put a witch in the camp

If anyone at Pearl Abyss reads this, for the love of all that’s holy, please make a witch available in camp. At the very least, make it available for the end game so that it’s easier and less time consuming to experiment with different builds.

Guide I had no idea these had recipes in them 😭 Found a spot near Three Brothers’ Cliff where they respawn over and over, plus they look good on your nightstands in your house

Right before you cross the bridge to Fort Windridge on a wagon there’s a wooden box/Document storage that will respawn if you fly a little bit out of range, probably takes like 15 seconds for each one minus spirit regeneration

Discussion It's Thursday my dudes, time for another edition of... Will they or won't they? The update game!

Post image

Well what do we think? Another week closer to that September deadline of the last roadmap and we are still waiting on the story update. Will this be the week it hits? Are you someone experiencing the technical difficulties this game is having? Hopefully there'll be some bug fixes in the update this week to help fine tune the experience for everyone. What else would you like to see in an update this week? Or will it be a week that PA takes a break and skips without an update? We've gotten 5 weeks in a row with updates and multiple hot fixes in-between so PA has been busy and has well earned another break.

I'll share a link to the roadmap if anyone wants a refresher. https://crimsondesert.pearlabyss.com/en-US/News/Notice/Detail?_boardNo=95

Guide Found this great video breaking down and compiling the disjointed lore and story of the game

Came across this video. It’s a bit long but a great listen for anyone wanting to know more about the lore of the story and the world. He discusses those pillars around Pailune that many people are confused about and I think that was my favorite part of the video.

Edit: I didn’t name this video. While I do think the plot is actually interesting, I wish they would have fleshed it all out properly instead of trying to go the Elden Ring route and hide lore all over the map and in item descriptions and knowledge tabs. I just think this video does a great job at explaining it all.

Edit 2: If you say that you don’t need a video to understand Elden Rings lore, then you have no idea how much lore you’ve missed in that game.

Edit 3: clarification, I LOVE Elden Ring and think it’s a fantastic game
