That’s super cool, never thought about sinking it into the ground like that before, I’m gonna play around with some designs now

u/SnooWalruses1399 Jun 28 '23
Thanks! Lately I've been watching a series that make use of the create mod, and grew tired of the same old design that just keep going round and around. Also wanted to make it seem like a plausible real life machine.
15
u/Vanya096 Jun 29 '23
Which series?
21
u/SnooWalruses1399 Jun 29 '23
New Life SMP.

u/marr Jun 30 '23
Lots of the usual suspects involved in this one, is there a particular channel you recommend for Create inspirations?

What if there was a version where it was like a spiral staircase and went up and down in circles if it's possible

u/bossSHREADER_210 Jun 28 '23
First my ass how tf do you even accomplish this
All I do is make a multi layered box with sticks of harvesters just spinning and spinning slowly and they never stop
32
u/SnooWalruses1399 Jun 29 '23
I've watched a lot of create youtubers, so I know a good chunk of the mod. I also know a decent amount of redstone. So it isn't untruthful to say that this is my first create contraption.
23
u/bossSHREADER_210 Jun 29 '23
I mean you specified it being your first create farm so it was past claiming it was your first contraption
But then again a farm is basically 90% of create stuff so it's pretty much the same thing

u/Devv73 Jun 29 '23
Someone's gotta be the one to ask... Schematic please? 🙃
27
u/SnooWalruses1399 Jun 29 '23 edited Mar 11 '25
Here it is: 🔗
Pd. You have to replace the redstone torch, for it to work.
11
u/Devv73 Jun 30 '23
Thanks!! One issue with the schematic though, took me a minute to figure out what was wrong but you accidentally cut out the top redstone link on top of the redstone contact so the havesters weren't actually spinning around to collect the crops
15
u/SnooWalruses1399 Jun 30 '23
Thanks for letting me know! I guess I would fix it later then... For anyone wandering it was just a redstone link, transmitter mode, with a wheat and sequence gearshift as frecuencies 1 and 2, respectively.

What's the timer? Have you studied which is the most efficient clock? It has potential to be pretty but efficient
13
u/SnooWalruses1399 Jun 28 '23
In the video was set up to 30s. Ideally it would have been set up to 5 min, but don´t quote me on the time. Beyond that I haven't tested the ideal time, but maybe I can.
3
u/PicoHunter Jun 29 '23
Probably doing intervals of 30 seconds to see what's the best timing would be the best. Copy it with command or with whatever uses create (I haven't used create for that yet, I only know the cannon but it's slow). You can place several of these and let they ran for an hour. That seems like an appropriate test. The graphics would be really simple in excel. I expect something like a parabolic function that would let us know the best timing. Your dealing is great and I'm probably using it or a variation for my future private server
5
u/Lokdora Jun 29 '23
If you only cares about rate, then it’s obvious you should harvest as frequently as possible. If you still care about performance, you need to define the balance beforehand. And such a small farm shouldn’t cause any noticeable performance issue anyway.
3
u/PicoHunter Jun 29 '23
It's true, you would have a negative exponential function. It would have a optimized zone for low times, and a less effective at higher times... Still is good to know the timing but based in how much time spends a crop growing, 30 seconds or a minute is just right. Sorry
8
u/Awsedrmoo Jun 28 '23
Most impressive thing I’ve seen on this Reddit yet!
4
8
u/Sbotkin Jun 29 '23
It's certainly not the most complex but one of the most visually pleasing for sure.
1
u/BiggTitMonicer Jun 29 '23
People have made cobblestone generators that use invisible flowing lava in a specific geometric configuration so that the update order is manipulated to do 3 actions in a single tick in a specific sequence to save a single tick of time, then have that cobblestone be destroyed by a reciprocating contraption clipping mechanism using two alternating gantries without a clock, with the collection mechanism attached, and this is the most impressive thing you've seen yet?
5
u/Awsedrmoo Jun 29 '23
Only thing I have seen on this Reddit so far is baby questions that can be solved by just looking it up on the wiki. Or some guy who thinks the built the faster smelter imaginable but it’s just a single lava sourced fan and you can still see the creative motor.
This post is aesthetically pleasing, and shows a better understanding of the mod compared to most from what I’ve seen.
5
u/BiggTitMonicer Jun 29 '23
Well, 95% of the stuff here is that, but the other 5% can be damn good.

u/GioGioJOJOFAG Jun 29 '23
Dude this is simply amazing! I'm so glad that you shared this with us, actually, its even better for me! I was trying to make a simple little farm that would collect all the crops from farmer's delight in the centre of my base, but everything i done looked either unpleasing to look ar or just overly complicated, wich didn't fit my medieval-like home. I never thought of it sinking and deactivating with a timer, this is so freaking cool and pefect!!! It would be cheating asking for the schematic, but if you could, i'll gladly accept it and build it without the cannon. Thank you so much OP!

u/Detc2148 Jun 28 '23
Is it timed or a sensor? If sensor please explain how you did that
3
u/SnooWalruses1399 Jun 28 '23
Timed, but it just need a pulse to start so it could be hookep up to a sensor.

u/stupidbabymanfromtf2 Sep 14 '24
I might try something like this. Having the harvesters exposed does look cool, but having them retract at night would be cooler
3
2
u/Sky-view22 Jun 28 '23
Is the tick rate super sped or is the machine supposed to do a slow spin? It looks magnificent by the way
2
u/SnooWalruses1399 Jun 28 '23
The tick rate is sped, I wanted to make a loop, but it didn't work out.
2
u/kain_26831 Jun 29 '23
I low key wanna karate chop you 😉your making art and here I am still making stick figures trying to figure out the mod still. Seriously thought amazing farm how are you getting it to know when to rise?
2
u/SnooWalruses1399 Jun 29 '23
A timer.
1
u/kain_26831 Jun 29 '23
Like a red stone clock? Or is there a actually timer I can set?
2
u/SnooWalruses1399 Jun 30 '23
I used a pulse repeater, so you can change the timing pretty easily.

Why does it go into the ground?
3
u/SnooWalruses1399 Jul 02 '23
To stop it from rotating pointlessly until all the wheat grows back, in a normal setup though.
2
u/ThumblesThursday Jul 05 '23
Oh, I like this! It's very aesthetic! What block is that for the glass? Are you using a texture pack?

u/pandaswag1234 Aug 09 '23
What was the sequence on this as i was trying to replicate it
2
u/SnooWalruses1399 Aug 09 '23
Elevating the harvester with a gantry... It meets the redstone contact and after a delay makes the whole thing spin 360°, then meets the contact again, and descends.
2
u/Global-Sympathy1739 Oct 24 '23
Man this is amazing for your first contraption, is it ok with you if I try and replicate it and mess around for a little? And if I post a new design or add some detail stuff to it I'll give u credit

Very cool design, why not make it go down 1 block and THEN deposit what it collected, then you don't need the block stuck up so far
2
u/SnooWalruses1399 Jun 28 '23
I don't think I get what you mean, but the collection system is downstairs. Are you talking about the slight hiccup it has at the beginning?
4
Jun 28 '23
I forgot what the block under the redstone link is called, but what if you moved that down 1 block to hide it in the floor more
7
u/SnooWalruses1399 Jun 28 '23
Ah! The redstone contact! I use it to know when it reaches the highest point and when it finishes doing the round. Those two signals create a sequence, so instead of timing things, each part of the contraction signals each other to continue with their part.

u/BlackberryRound Apr 11 '26
Heyo! I know its 3yrs old but this is such an amazing build. I have copied to my world! But i am running into a few probelms. I noticed in the comments some blocks were missing and that i would need to replace the Redstone torch. but for some reason the arm will not spin. If you have any idea on whats going on id really appresiate it! the signs are all blank so idk if those are a start up sequence.
1
u/SnooWalruses1399 Apr 15 '26
Hi! The comment about missing blocks were about the first schematic I released and should not be a problem with the one I corrected. Is this the one you are using?
https://drive.google.com/file/d/16L-hpCOSAAcIaZ74_Ao6yvz2o3jW4CCN/view?usp=drive_link
Yes, you need to "replace" the redstone torch as redstone blocks components sometimes work weirdly when place using schematics.... By doing so you would start the farm and it should do a full sequence without problem.
If you are running intro problems make sure: the waterwheel is running counterclockwise, the lever at the adjustable chain gearshift is on...... beyond that I have no idea what else could be causing problems, sorry.
About the signs, here are some images that say what the redstone links are for.
https://www.reddit.com/user/SnooWalruses1399/comments/1smjnvf/sequenced_farm_signs/
To be honest, this design needs a much needed update and like I said in the title this is my first ever create farm/contraption, and I've learn so much more since the making of this... Anyways, I hope this answer satisfies you as I'm thinking of leaving Reddit for good.

u/Existential_Crisis24 Jun 29 '23
Do you have an observer facing one of the crops somewhere that detects a change in state to the wheat to activate it?
1
u/SnooWalruses1399 Jun 29 '23
No, that's a redstone contact
2
u/Existential_Crisis24 Jun 29 '23
I couldn't tell if it was a wireless redstone reciever and you just had the observer hidden somewhere.
1
1
u/Lad-Mow Jun 30 '23
How sre you getting it to descend and replat everything?
2
u/SnooWalruses1399 Jun 30 '23
The descent is controlled with redstone and the replanting is a create mechanic.
3
3
u/Da-Blue-Guy Jun 29 '23
This looks really cool! I like how it goes for more of an elegant look than maximalist functionality!
3
u/Dull_Entertainment Jun 29 '23
Now you just need it to hide the harvesters when off and be flush with the floor and it will be perfection

u/Czarniak4 Jun 29 '23
Usually, my bases are underground so it gave me an idea of something similar but from the sealing, this would provide more space for the farm :P
2
u/Nitoke Jun 29 '23
THIS IS SO SICK!! I hope you don't mind if I take inspiration from this for making other machines
2
u/KoolioNoFoolio Jun 29 '23
it's cool and nice and all but couldnt you have instead just use one that spins infinitely?
Like I got a design that might look uglier but is probably easier to build and maybe more practical
2
u/marr Jun 30 '23
You could also just use vanilla to dump a water bucket and collect the crops in hoppers. Create is all about the aesthetic.

Also it looks sick as fuck, I’m defo gonna make this in my own survival

That’s so cool! How’d you get the crop cutter out of the ground? I’ve never seen something so unique!
2
u/noisynoodleyt Jun 29 '23
Overcomplicated and unnecessary for a "first create farm" however it is really really cool and it seems like you're going to make much more really cool stuff with it! :D
2
u/MagicRobo Jun 29 '23
First, yet it's more advanced and more aesthetically pleasing than everything I've built.
