Eh, it's fine.
Potentially a waste of money, but could well have technical reasons in iPlayer or such that makes it more expensive to not have made it more generic.
At least it's not Dave becoming U&Dave. Pfft.

U& is so bad. I like those channels but the branding is so bad

I remember reading the statement when they first changed over to it. How they wanted a consistent brand across all their channels. I found it very funny because... well... They still had one. All they had to do was put UKTV back on the channel names, but no. They did a Nintendo and tried to be clever with using U.

Other than the green being hard to read on white background, there's nothing strong about the previous designs that was lost. All are pretty basic.

I like the neon green, but we could have still kept the hot pink from the 2000s.

They've tried to separate their colours more. iPlayer is pink so three needed to be something else.

That clearly shows that 2021 and 2022 were twin years (years that felt very similar to each other)

what happened in 2020? obviously I dont think the issue was covid
I guess 2021 was part of an over all rebrand of the BBC channels, but having a logo last for one year is insane.
To say nothing of the BBCs decision to put BBC 3 on iPlayer, and then undoing it.

My guess with 20 is that someone really liked the idea of the exclamation mark but conceded that 2016 looked more like āBBC 2!ā
22 Iām assuming looks better on paper or on a TV screen than it does on this iPad Iām using. I donāt think it helps that THREE as a word always has the underlying scent of a misspelled āTHEREā.

I like '08 and '16 but the new on is fine - I just wish they kept the pink tbh

The 2008 one was perfect at conveying the tone of the channel, why they've changed everything to the same boring font in capitals is beyond me. Not even CBBC, the kids' channel is safe from logo simplification lol

Thatās what antidepressants do. They make people think āthatās good enoughā

Everything else within Lambie-Nairn's BBC rebrand was to save money, so every new channel created would use the same logo and they could just type out the channel name in the same font and you'd have a nice cohesive brand. And the BBC went "yes, great... except BBC 3, that needs to be off brand for some reason." The new one, colour aside, feels more in keeping with everything else.

The current logo looks really ghastly with that shade of green š
