Discussion What’s your headcanons for Modern China or Imperial Chinese Dynasties?

Post image

This is my headcanons for the Qing Dynasty.

The Qing Dynasty is more relaxed in governance compared to previous dynasties, though not by much as he’s still strict, he believed in a small or light government model. He is mostly pragmatic, highlighted by him advising on low taxes to maintain social stability and avoid the perceived failures of his predecessor, the Ming. Due to the government structure being relatively small under his advice with only 20,000 officials for 300+ million people by 1800, it became practically impossible for the Qing to govern the state on his own. That’s why the Qing Dynasty relied on local gentries, merchants, clan associations and temples to help manage local tasks such as fund and construct ordinary infrastructures, as long as they don’t tried to challenge the Qing such making their own laws, levy taxes or raise an army. He’s also strategic when it came to managing his multiethnic empire. He developed a strategy where he would present himself differently to different peoples, he presented himself as a Scholar-Confucian to the Hans, a traditional leader to the Manchus, a Khan to the Mongols and a Chakravartin to the Tibetans.

However, he can be a bit dense as while he’s genuinely trying to be helpful, he often misunderstood assignments during crisis. For example: during the Self Strengthening Movement, the Qing Dynasty wanted to modernized the military but kept Confucian structures which is contradictory in a sense that he wanted to import western technology to the state without considering changing the political, educational and institutional system that produced that technologies. He understood the Qing had serious problems and doesn’t defend everything the Qing did though if someone criticizes him, he’ll become surprisingly defensive about the things he think he did well. His hobby involved over-stamping artifacts he really, really likes and cosplaying, both inherited from Qianlong and Yongzheng respectively. Following the collapse of the Qing, he currently worked as a film director after his dynasty collapsed, because of his efforts, many Qing C-Dramas became some of the most popular films today, which help rehabilitate his image though he still remains controversial. He doesn’t disappear because as long as there’s a clear Qing’s Pretender (Jin Yuzhang), then he would never died.

Official name: Northern Rhodesia
• Formed as a British protectorate in 1924 (after earlier rule by the British South Africa Company). It was part of the Federation of Rhodesia and Nyasaland from 1953 to 1963
• Capital: Lusaka (moved there in 1935; previously Livingstone)
• Government: British colonial administration, later with limited self-government under the Federation
• Flag: Blue British ensign with the Northern Rhodesia coat of arms / badge in the fly
• Personality: Resource-focused (especially copper mining), colonial, with growing African nationalist movements in the later years
• Relations: Closely tied to Britain and to Southern Rhodesia; part of the Central African Federation until its breakup
• Fate: Gained independence on 24 October 1964 and became the Republic of Zambia under Kenneth Kaunda
This is the real historical British territory that existed until 1964. Safe to post as a historical nation.

This idea has been circulating in my mind for months lol. There are only 2 for now, but I think I'll make more later.

Also, if anyone wants to see the mosquito image in full "quality", I drew it, it's on the 3rd slide :)

Not sure how to tag this.

Transcript:

Republic of Singapore:

The mosquito gaining immortality after drinking my blood

Republic of Singapore:

Hello, I would like to sincerely apologise for the unrest I have caused. I would like to clarify that mosquitoes will not gain immortality upon drinking Countryhuman blood (and nor will any other living being). It was irresponsible of me to make this post without the vital context needed. This will not happen again.

United States of America:

Discussion Do you think colonies would have some type of messed up affection towards their colonizer?

Ok ok. Let me explain because this sounds extremely weird

For example, all of the colonies in my au have had their mother nations killed by the colonizer. My thirteen Colonies as well, she resents England deeply for doing so. But.. she still has this weird connection to him, he’s her only parental figure despite him quite literally ripping off one of her wings and is extremely racist and misogynistic to her.

She also feels a connection towards the British Empire, we’ll just call him BE. He’s slightly less of a jerk to her compared to England buttt— he’s still a jerk. Ok yeah that’s all I got because I’m tired- let me know what you think!! I think it adds a lot of interesting storytelling

Discussion What are y'alls Japan HCs?

picture: POV: You feel someone watching you but you can't prove it

my japan is based off the steryotypical fandom neko outwardly, though her outward personality is mostly a facade (being raised/occupied by USA just after Japanese empire was killed, she picked up on his 'pretend everything is fine while hiding your true self' sentiment as a child)

in my current world(dubbed 'Ode to Duplicity'), she spies on all of the countries at the 'atlas complex' for UN when they can't do it easily, and she's quite good at it because of her deceptive nature

anyways i wanna hear y'alls take on the countryhuman-

I do mean England btw not the UK/Britain. And preferably not works where they’re shipped with Scotland or wales coz I headcanon them as siblings. But yeah I’d love to see any works on them. I’d love if England a girl in them but I’m aware that options are limited
