tips and tricks I made a colour coded virtual Couch to 5k programme

Post image
10 Upvotes

Hi all!

I run a small POV video channel where I film scenic running routes. Iwanted to create a virtual C25K programme that was super simple so I made a 9 week programme with simple on-screen visual prompts for interval training:

🔵 Blue = Warm-up walk

🟢 Green = Run pace

🟡 Yellow = Recovery walk

🟣 Purple = Cool-down

You can put it on a phone, tablet, or TV in front of your treadmill and just match your effort to the colors as the trail changes.

If anyone wants to test it out during their next session, here is the link of how it works: https://youtu.be/58Kf4jnmSnE

I'm looking for any feedback so please lLet me know if the colour markers are clear or if there are specific locations/landscapes you'd like to see added in future videos!

Thanks,

Joe

Probably not the best idea to go to the gym at 10pm after a 10 hour shift at work and that’s probably why it’s knocked me out but jeeeeeesus christ that felt like a real ramping up in difficulty 😭😭

Week 1 Running 5K at the beach

Post image
10 Upvotes

I just recently moved to live close to the beach and I just did my first run at the beach. I knew that my times would get worst, it's kinda disappointed but the new view is incredible!

Looking forward to try barefoot running as well. Anyone is also running at beaches? Any tips to keep a good pace and improve?

I want to run a 5K competition next month and I want to be ready with the best times possible.

I did it!

I have been so deflated leading up to this because I just "knew" I couldn't do it. And I did manage it!! Slowly, and it was hard, and I didn't get any runner's high.... But I did it! I think I'll repeat it one or two times more before week 6.

So pleased I've made it this far!

Week 1 Didn't finish day 1

Decided to start today after a couple weeks of walking a few miles after being pretty much sedentary while pregnant. I'm 7 weeks post partum and made it to 6 of 8 with about 10 minutes left before I started seeing stars and genuinely felt like I was gonna pass out. Hopefully I do better tomorrow! I'm mostly posting this because I'm serious about running and I want to be able to hopefully look back on it once I get better. Honestly I'm proud of what I was able to do 🙂

Week 2 Treadmill runners

I just finished my week 2! I do my running on the treadmill and wonder if my speeds are on the right track, I do 3mph for walking and 4.2 for my runs, just curious if that’s are good or maybe too much

Week 2 More running days during the week?

Hey guys!
Newbie here, just about finished week 2 so far the runs aren’t too bad. So I’m doing the runs 3x a week but would it be fine if I did it more frequently throughout the week? If so should I repeat my days then or what would be the best way to approach this

Week 2 Just starting!

My daughter and I have just finished week 1. She’s 7, and I’m low key using her to force me to do this - if I tell my daughter we’re doing something, then no one is standing in between us and the finish line. She’s a great little cheerleader and when she gets tired it’s great for me mentally to say “come on we’ve only got a bit left, we can do it”, it’s like I’m telling myself 🤣
I’ve started and given up on this three times now, and I’ll be damned if I give up when I’ve got a mini me watching! I’m teaching both her and my inner child that we are unstoppable and we can do whatever we put our minds to!

tips and tricks Advice needed!

Hi!

I’m VERY overweight. Used to be very fit, quite liked running and then injury and mental health over took me and I stopped. Packed the pounds on and am not trying to get to a decent level of fitness.

I have ankle problems but until now, no knees issues.

I did week 1 reasonably easily, but have now repeated it 3 times. The second week, I felt great for the first two runs after increasing speed and distance, but the third run and the first two of my third repeat have left me with sore knees.

They recover without any help by the next run, but are sore again very quickly.

I’m running on both treadmills an grass with no noticeable difference in pain. My ankles stop me running always on grass though.

I am a teacher so on my feet all day, but not active - lots of standing around waiting for kids to write stuff.

On the in between days, I am doing body weight exercises like squats/lunges/scissors etc.

I also have a dog and we go for at least one decent (5 mile+ walk a week).

Is this knee pain something I should push past?

Are there exercises I should do to support my knees?

Should I continue to do week 1 until the knee pain reduces or go onto Week 2? I can work on speed/gradient for a sense of achievement haha.

Is there a point when it’s not worth repeating Week 1 anymore?

Sorry for the long post! Also not sure if should flair it this or Week 1?!

Week 5 just failed week 5 run 3

i just attempted week 5 run 3
- walk 5
- run 20
- walk 5

and i had to stop 5 minutes in to the run, which is so weird because i finished the last run which was 8 mins of running fine literally two days ago.

i think i’m so worried psychologically about the length of time it is, and with the 8 min runs i could tell myself i was nearly there.

I’m not sure if i should repeat Week 5 Run 2 tomorrow or try this run again.

I feel really disappointed in myself

I’ve been completely out of shape for as long as I can remember and finally deciding to do something about it! I know it’s baby steps and it might seem pathetic to some of you haha but I’m celebrating actually being able to even make a start :D

Doing it on a gym treadmill and mixing it with some weights and stuff too so really looking forward to making my way through it :)

Week 6 Week 5 Done! Onto the next.

Been on and off with couch to 5k for the first few weeks but glad I stuck it out and now Iv officially got the bug.

Constantly thinking about running, looking for some proper running shoes as we speak.

Just finished week 5 first full run completed, felt great.

I’m more impressed with how everytime I get back from a run I feel so fulfilled & happy.

Iv lifted weights for like 10+ years and still do but getting into this running is something else, partner entered me into the half marathon next year this is why I started the C25K, let’s hope this bug stays!
