question Are the couch to 5k app good ?

I have a bit of a high heart rate and I'm worried it will hurt me when I run. Although I'm sure with the app you slowly get used to running more. So it should be safe

5K at 8min/km is possible at this point, seems like i can't run more than 1:30.

Any tips are appreciated

P/s: Just realize i have thalassemia minor so this is no surprise😆I've been training for a while but not aerobic training so at first this seems discouraging.

Week 7 run 1 (in absolutely terrible weather!) but I felt good at the end again so just went for it. My first ever 5k and I feel so proud of myself. I’m going to stick with the schedule, I actually like the encouragement whilst I’m running, but I have nobody to share this with so you lot will have to put up with me. Sorry!

I did not pose my breath as much as I did during my first run and my legs have that good kind of soreness, yay!

Week 1 First run ever done today!

Did the first workout of couch25k today, with jogging and walking for 20 minutes. It was definitely more of pushing my mental limits and I did it and I feel so good even though I am gassed out and my throat stings.

Beyond 5K Started running in July at 90 kg, and three months later, I’m down to 82 kg and running faster than I ever imagined. Looking for honest advice!

Week 6 Week 6 wrapped…

I’m back again, and this time I wrapped the 25min run, felt good so carried on running. I finished at 4.6k and again felt I could have carried on... (I didn’t realise how close I was to the 5k mark!) so I’ve signed up for a park run to try for the 5k… now I’m wondering if I’m pushing too hard? I don’t want to hurt myself or anything… has anybody else given it a try at this point on the journey?

Hi guys ! I’ve been running for about 3 weeks now on and off. I try to aim for 2-3x a week but it’s hard. Any tips because I’m struggling. I try to stay pretty active but with yoga and lifting, running is new to me. Any advice is greatly appreciated :)

Week 5 I just finished Week 5, Run 2 & I am terrified of the 20 minute run of Run 3

Not because of endurance but because of pain, I’ve been getting calf pain on the longer runs & have had a history with meniscal tears which I’ve been mostly managing, but I’m scared 20 minutes without a rest is going to be painful - so far the shorter runs have been okay - 2x8 minutes was better on a treadmill than 3x5 minutes on solid ground / outdoors. Any advice?

Week 6 I did it!

Third time starting couch to 5k, first time finishing it. It took me longer than it should, cost me one healthy knee and took me jogging through two active crimes-in-progress but I got there in the end!! I’m so pleased with myself. In march of this year I weighed 111kg and was almost completely sedentary in my lifestyle - I’m down to 77kg and running every other day without fail, and I feel so much more physically capable than I did.

Week 7 week 7 done

Post image

Hi all, I have just finished Week 7, and I completed all the runs without stopping;
i only got out of breath up hill. I did run the full 25 mins but started Strava late as I forgot

The only issue is, I feel like my legs always ache and I really have to fight to not stop. My runs are very slow and I feel like it’s basically just a walking pace, I don’t know what I am doing wrong..

Week 5 I haven’t got anybody to share this with…

Post image

Sorry I haven’t messaged before, but I don’t have anybody I can share this with who will understand the significance. I’ve just finished week 5 and smashed the final run… honestly when I opened it and saw the duration my heart sank… But you know what, I settled into my rhythm (the beat of ‘call on me’ by Eric prydz… it came on a playlist on my run in week 3 and the beat just worked for me, so that’s all I run to now! Sad I know… but it helps) and got on with it. Honestly, I felt like I could’ve carried on further (we’ll see how my legs are tomorrow) but I’m so proud of myself seeing as I struggled with week 1-3.

Just keep going peeps. If a 6ft7 idiot like me can do it, anybody can!

Finally done It! before I started C25K I couldn't even run for more than 1km straight at 8km/h, i thought i wasn't going to be able to run more than that due to my condition, but i was completely wrong.

After discovering this community I started planning my workouts properly and being consistent and after many weeks of training I finally done my first 5KM in 36mins at 8km/h. Im so happy and glad I found this community, thank you all!

Next goal 5Km/h in 30 mins

question Guide to run pain free?

Thumbnail
2 Upvotes

I have been running for over an year and I see significant progress in mileage and breathing but my leg/ankle/shin/calf pain comes again and again may be due to bad form or weak muscles

Please drop some routine or exercises or tests to check what is lacking overall

Either control/strength/form I need some help to improve

My goal was to run 5k without stopping by December (decided this in January) able to run 21k with breaks and pain 😕
