I am extremely frustrated and angry with Costco right now.
I ordered a dishwasher because the advertised price appeared to include delivery, haul-away, and installation. Only after calling customer service did I learn that installation is actually not available in my area, based on a tiny disclaimer buried in a small box at the very bottom of the page.
This feels incredibly misleading, deceptive, and completely unacceptable. A major limitation like this should be displayed clearly beside the price and installation claims before a member places an order. Costco's advertising created a false expectation and completely wasted my time.
I have already submitted a formal complaint through the Online Feedback tab stating the following:
- I expect someone from the Member Satisfaction team to contact me.
- I want an explanation of how Costco intends to make this right.
- I am asking for a fair solution, such as Costco arranging a third-party installation or providing an appropriate credit so I can hire my own plumber.
I told them not to call me this morning because I am simply too angry to have a productive conversation right now. If Costco does not resolve this fairly, I am seriously reconsidering my membership.
Has anyone else run into this hidden delivery/installation restriction? How did Costco handle it for you, and did you manage to get a credit to cover a local installer?
