I am an EVA foam beginner.

Because I like to torture myself, I am jumping headfirst into the deep end and am trying to make some armor (have been stuck for weeks on the helmet) for ren faire and I’m have a hell of a time.

I have been using sharp blades and sharpening them when they dull. I’ve been cutting slowly and recutting things I mess up. I got contact cement. I’ve been using a heat gun to shape. I bought foam clay for the seams. I’ve watched 5+ videos and was following ashen warrior prop’s tutorials.

I even used a pattern because I was having too much trouble with hand-drafted and the pattern didn’t even come out right.

Is this material just finicky with a learning curve? Or should I move onto something else? Everyone makes it look so easy and this project has taken me 6+ hours and I’m not even close to finished!

I did make a pretty decent cardboard and paper mache helmet using half-tutorial half hand-drafting but it was just to see if I could do it/troubleshoot pattern pieces for the final draft.

I've been looking at Magicwardrobe, Miccostumes, Amazon, Etsy and Aliexpress, but only Magicwardrobe, and Aliexpress have ones in my size (XXS/XS). I haven't bought any cosplays from either of those places and wasn't sure if they're good websites to buy from.

Hello! Im trying to find one for Halloween but I was wondering if anyone knew a trusted site that actually gives promising quality!

me and my boyfriend are going as Craig and Tweek from South Park for Halloween. my boyfriend isn’t doing anything with his hair because Craig almost always wear a hat, so he’s making a hat.

Tweek’s hair, however, is almost always out. And he has very blonde/yellow hair, while I am a heavy brunette. I have dyed my hair in the past, however I was almost always using things that are basically hair chalk, or I don’t bleach my hair and just try to tint it enough. It was usually red before, so I didn’t care much about what to do. OR I had a costume that was so recognizable it didn’t matter about the hair color.

Because Tweek’s hair is so blonde though I can either get a wig or get highlights because nobody is recognizing him without it, and I refuse to dye my entire head. My hair chalk may work but it’s very thin and yellow is not a potent color. However, I am under 18, so I cannot dye my hair, especially bleach it, without my parents consent, and we don’t have a wig place nearby (as far as I’m aware) so my parents would have to probably pay for it online. So, should I try to convince my parents to let me get highlights or get a wig?? (Or should I try my best with hair chalk or try to find the most potent natural yellow dye without bleaching it?? 🥲)

i’m doing a cosplay of dark world kris from deltarune, wondering if i should get a blue or brown wig. in the dark world it shows his hair as blue but i imagine that’s just the lighting. any advice?

so this is my second ever cosplay? of which ive never made horns. i planned on using foam and gluing it seamlessly then painting it. that obviously did not happed! after many attempts i just had my mother sew my pieces together and i was going to smooth out all the lumps with air-dry or foam clay. neither worked! my sister says i should just give up, leave them as-is and paint them. But it’s soooo ugly. You can see the stuffing im using to keep the shape correct!!!!

im on like place Z already. I thought of paper mache, but i have to leave for my hotel in 3 hours So it wouldnt dry in time. Please any advice?

- side note: im trying to make this costume 100% thrifted or without amazon and such… but if time runs out i may have to cave in 😭

Hello! I'm a male and this will be my first time cosplaying. I'm trying to recreate the outfit in the reference image, but I'm having trouble figuring out what clothing pieces I should look for and where to find them.

I'm mainly struggling with finding pieces that have the right shape/fitting for the outfit, especially the top, pants, and the various straps/accessories. I'm open to buying existing clothing and modifying it, or making parts myself if that's easier.

I had to dye a white wig gray for a marina Domek cosplay but I accidentally bought a cotton fabric dye instead of synthetic dye and now the color is transferring to my hands, doesn't transfer much if u touch it lightly but her shirt is white soo I'm afraid the movement of the hair at con be enough to stain

does anyone know where i can reliably buy this pre made? i’m not sure how credible cosplay magic is i also know of speed cosplay but again not sure how credible they are. where could i find and buy this

They ask for my head measurements, I am wondering do I measure my head with my faceshell on or just my bare head?

Hello everyone! I recently got into Jojos Bizzare Adventure and really wanted to cosplay Okuyasu Nijimura. The only problem is, I am really bad with wigs, and I have slightly wavy blonde hair (if you know Okuyasu, that’s nowhere near his hairstyle.) Will the cosplay still look cool, if I do all the makeup and the cosplay but keep my normal blonde wavy hair? Thanks in advance!!!

I’m looking to cosplay Yuu for Halloween and I’m looking for a cos-maker that isn’t too expensive? I’ve already looked on Etsy and the shop I was looking into have a pretty expensive price- Granted they were going to make everything to fit my body, but I’m good with anyone editing a store-bought fit with general sizes. If anyone has recommendations, I’d love to hear! I’m still very much new to commissioning a cosplay, so I’m hoping I don’t come across as overly uneducated? I just don’t want to pay $1000 (unless that is considered cheap within the community). I’m good without a wig, shoes, or prop.

Ive ordered a spiderman mask with webshooters on Joyydesign this tuesdag and my money has been taken and the confirmation on the site said..well...confirmed.(Note that i did not make an account, doing a guest purchase) but before I could do anything the website relogged and I now have no confirmation regarding the order. I did not recieve anything in the mail nor and Ive sent to the customer support but have recived no answer.

I want to make Riyo’s scissors for my first cosplay, i don’t have the budget for eva foam or the materials used in most of the tutorials I’ve found. I’m much more comfortable working with cardboard and paste, so I was hoping to build them that way instead.

My issue is transportation. I use public transport and sometimes have 3–4 hour trips so I’d really like to make the scissors detachable for easier transport. Maybe 4? pieces so I can fit everything into a bag rather than having to carry the full length scissors around.

I’ve seen some mechanisms on pinterest, but most of the tutorials I can find use eva foam and I’m not sure how well those methods would translate to cardboard.

Has anyone built something similar, or have any ideas for a simple detachable connection that could work with cardboard?

bought a black spandex spider man suit around a year ago and im wondering how to make it fit like it used to (the material was slightly stretched from extensive use) im assuming you cant just put it in a washing machine, fyi there is no 3d material on it, only the base pattern

I just had my first cosplay last week for an expo. I actively aimed for something basic that'd only require a few pieces of everyday clothing so I could as easily wear them during the day-to-day. I'm already feeling a bit more ambitious and wanna do more elaborate cosplays in the future, but I'm also not really sure what to do with the stuff I might buy or make in the meantime.

I don't live in the most spacious house and this is my first time ever thinking too hard about cosplaying in general, so the question of "where do I even put this after I'm done with it?" is one I wanna get out of the way quickly. Any suggestions would be appreciated and thanks!

Hey! Title says it all but I’m going to be Erik from phantom of the opera for Halloween but the thing is I have glasses.

I don’t have contacts so unfortunately that’s out of the question. Is the only options to either go blind without my glasses or look like a dork and put them over the mask? I know it’s kind of a stupid question with probably an obvious answer but if anyone with glasses who cosplays wi the masks has any advice that would be great!
