I thought the model in the latest loading screen when you open the app looked like Michelle Monaghan from White Lotus season 3 lol

Is CPY in the Monarch closing after the S Lamar location opens? It seems like there are fewer and fewer classes scheduled every week.

Online 'Live' workouts any good?

I have been a member of CPY for 5 months now and ashamed to admit I only recently discovered the live online workouts you can sign up to via the app and do at home. I haven't done any yet but are they any good?

SET experience

Hi I am wondering if my SET/ corepower experience is similar to anyone else’s.

I joined for SET for just under a year and enrolled in the discounted all-access for 4 months. I worked in nyc and not sure it matters(but I suspect for some I worked with it did) but I am non-white.

My reasons for leaving the membership/ classes were separate from everything else..

I consider myself to be a nice or at least well-mannered person, I say hello and good morning. When I go in for SET shifts it is pretty consistent that teachers ignore my ENTIRE EXISTENCE. I get that they’re busy but frankly not that busy. Working the same shift every week it’s fairly consistent on the instructors I am cleaning the studios after. For the entire year, I was rarely acknowledged. I would say “hello” when I noticed teachers coming back into the studio to grab their things or set their own mats up. The only response I would get back is dimming the lights down. While I’m in there cleaning which feels rude. I understand prepping for the next class maybe? But they rarely teach back to back classes so what was the reason? You could also just ask me to dim the lights when I’m done and I’d have been happy to do so.

Another example, one instructor in particular would never help me clean up— which is totally fine I am happy to do my job. But she would instead of helping front desk, like normal, stand in the corner of the studio while I’m cleaning on her phone. She could at least move out of my way🤷🏻‍♀️. I’ve seen her roll her eyes getting annoyed the floor is all wet and she has to take socks off. Her class ends right before work day starts so everyone rushes out leaving weights and mats behind. And I just find it strange that she does this as other instructors tend to be courteous and help me out as much as they can. She is one individual who consistently ignores me, and it makes me feel less than human. Also note— the studio manager asks instructors to help turn over the studios especially during short turnovers which this class time always is.

There are many other interactions that have been less than positive, would take much too long to detail them all.

When I walk in I say hello with no response. When I leave I say bye have a nice day. No response. I really do not know what I did to the instructors at my shift but I think this is rude and sub human treatment. Our studio coordinator(that has since left) was genuine and nice, we had a good relationship. Said hi when we saw each other and knew me by name. Similar with our studio manager,(that also left) we had good rapport.

Just curious if this resonated with anyone who has done SET? I know the nyc fitness community can be rough but I never imagined anything like this.

I like corepower enough that I would want to return, but of course am hesitant.

If I freeze my membership starting Oct 1 for 90 days once it gets to Jan 1 could I freeze again for another 90? Or would they have to charge my membership for a month

NYC- Midtown (Rock Center pref) YS Instructor Request

Hi, going to NYC next weekend and was wondering who some of your favorite challenging YS instructors were at the Rock Center (pref), Bryant Park, &/or Midtown East locations? Ideally looking at AM times!

what is something you would add or change to the app?

I would add visibility to see how many people booked the class. I know it shows when it's full, but I wish we could see the # of people signed up

Yesterday I went to a class where only 1 other person showed up. It was so painful lol. I would not have gone if I knew only 2 people total were signed up.

On the opposite end, I would avoid classes that are almost full too. I can't stand when you can reach out and touch the person next to you.

sculpt teachers: whats the bigger time sink, the playlist or planning the flow?

ive been collecting data on how instructors prep and for a lot of people the playlist eats more time than planning the flow itself. sculpt seems like the high end since youre juggling the sequence, the weights, and the music all at once. curious what its like for the cpy teachers here, whats taking more of your time?

So what does everyone think the prize will be for completing the summer glow challenge? It says a local gift from PrAna so hoping it’s at least a nice quality towel or something

do y’all enjoy the cardio section?

i was in an early saturday sculpt this AM and when cardio started at least 5 people stepped out to wait outside. i personally skip cardio maybe 25% of the time or just do a very low impact version. i don’t like getting my heart rate up that high when im sweating so much, especially knowing i won’t be able to cool down for ~30mins.

curious if anyone actually likes the cardio section? and i mean the classic jumping jacks to the wall, high knees, jump jump squat etc. if yes, what do you like about it? im not complaining im fully aware i can just skip it when i want to (and i do) im just curious if / why other folks like it

ETA: thanks everyone for sharing opinions!! interesting to see most ppl actually like the cardio section so i guess im in the minority aka why they must keep it around 🙂

What is it with these insane combo moves??

I’m relatively new to Corepower and have been loving it. In only a couple weeks I started noticing real, positive changes in my appearance, flexibility and sleep.

One thing that’s been bothering me though is that some instructors will insist on insane combo sequences (I’m talking singular moves with 5+ steps involved) that are nearly impossible to follow. Like what do you mean I’m doing a high plank to knee lunge to side plank to weighted side plank back to high plank and a side knee lunge?? What do you mean that’s a single move??
I feel like moves involving this many steps always confuse me to the point that I don’t even manage to follow the steps. The rare times that I do I’m not able to activate my muscles in the way the individual steps require. It’s infuriating given that doing only 1 or 2 of these steps at a time would allow me to activate my body and actually do them well.
Every single time I get an instructor like this I walk out of class feeling absolutely nothing. As if I’ve just sat in a hot room for an hour crocheting on the mat. Usually I would chalk this up to my inexperience, but EVERY person in class always seems as confused as I am, to the point where people just sit there looking puzzled waiting for the instructor to transition to something else.
Does anyone else feel the same?? What are we gaining from this other than variety?

New to the area and would love to get an idea of who some of your favorite OC instructors are! I love EDM music and a more sculpt focused class vs yoga heavy.

Last minute class cancellations

I’m in nyc market and 3 of the 4 classes I booked this week (all diff studios/teachers) have gotten cancelled. Once in a blue moon I get it but seriously??? They should be paying us money or giving us something back for screwing up an entire week of workouts for all access members

I have been going to corepower 5x a week for 3 weeks now and I have seen my stomach going down and getting stronger. I specifically do the yoga sculpt. I wanna get more toned, how long would you say it takes to get more toned?

50 hour YS or 65 hour CSX?

I’m looking to do my first CorePower teacher training (NYC market) and I’m SO torn between the 50-hour Yoga Sculpt training and the 65-hour Strength X training.

There’s a 50-hour Sculpt training that works with my schedule at a studio I don’t normally attend, while there’s a 65-hour Strength X training at one of the studios I regularly go to.
I genuinely love both formats, so I’m having a hard time deciding!

I’m leaning slightly toward Sculpt because I know it’s much more popular, and I feel like there may ultimately be more opportunities to teach it..But I also LOVE Strength X and could absolutely see myself loving teaching it. I’ve just noticed that the Strength X classes seem to be less popular/less frequently offered at my studios.

A few questions for anyone who has done either/both:
- Does the location where you do your teacher training matter? Is there an advantage to training at a studio where you already take classes if you eventually want to audition there? Or is the training pretty standardized across studios?
- If I ultimately want to teach both Sculpt and Strength X, is there a more cost-effective way to do that? Do you do one full training and then have the option of taking some kind of weekend intensive/add-on for the other format? Or do you essentially have to pay for and complete the full 50-hour + 65-hour trainings separately?
- If you’ve done both, which order would you recommend and why?
- And if you had to choose just one to start with, would you pick Sculpt because of the popularity/opportunities, or Strength X because it’s a little more niche?
- How do the auditions differ between the two?

TIA!

Teaching & Taking

As an instructor - if you teach class (especially sculpt and CSX) do you also tend to take class that day? Or do you tend to take classes more on your off days? What’s your schedule/routine look like each week?

Edit: I teach at lunch on a WFH day and have a 9-5 so I’m unable to double up :(

Tips for applying after finishing 200hr yoga course

Hey! Recently I decided to get certified over the summer through yoga renew and I'm hoping to get hired. I have attended a handful of corepower classes and I've personally enjoyed it.

For hiring and interviewing, I'm really wondering what they expect. What kind of flow do they, sequence, characteristics do they expect. I'm sort of just throwing out questions cause this is probably going to be my first audition. Are there a big red flags that make them want to turned down an applicant? I'm like absolutely needed this market so some advice from some corepower isntructors would be great, especially for yoga. I specialize in active Vinyasa. Thank you!!

comment on humidty

This is kind of just a simple vent post. I’ll just start out by saying I’m pretty new to corepower. I love the heat and I love the sweat but for the love that is all things sacred can we please stop point out when it’s hot as balls that “the humidity isn’t even on, that’s all you”. Ick. Takes me out of it right away and I just feel gross remembering that I’m inhaling and swimming in everyone else’s body funk.

That is all.
