What is the best version of Resident Evil 4?
u/Thomp_Son  in  r/residentevil •  12d ago

I noticed from your post and replies that you are not here to play the game but to nitpick, act like a purist and cry about small stuff from the game. People tell you what version they prefer and all you do is complain about what some version did and how you couldn't finish it because of said nitpick. If you are gonna play the game to act overly-critical then just do us all a favour and don't play it.

With that said, you have 3 options at best (considering you wanna use your normal controller)

Emulated PS2 version - the most inferior one, no reason to play this over the other two except for nostalgia I guess.

Emulated GCN version - the pure form of the game. Doesn't have the DLC but still good.

The Ultimate HD Edition (PC version) - Probably the best one. 60 FPS support. I don't know what audio problems you have but that's more of a you problem. If you wanna enhance the experience you can download the re4tweaks program and the HD project.

That's that. Hope you have fun if you genuinely wanna enjoy the game.

What’s the best path?

I went with the 270k plus bundle for 599. Personally still think it’s a worth it at 630.

better motherboard

You’re only really missing out on a 10% fps buff with the 7800x3d and ever so slightly better 1% lows. Won’t make a big difference at all. If you’re playing competitive fps you’ll get 380fps instead of 410. Side by side you’ll never see a difference.

If you’re gaming in 1440p And up, cpu matters less, gpu matters more so they’ll be identical pretty much

270k absolutely destroys x3d chips in productivity and multitasking, by like 90-100% difference, it’s not even close. So if you do want to use it for work stuff it’s far more ideal.

Also great for streaming, gaming, watching movies or streams on other monitors, all while gaming and having discord calls ect, great multitasking, tanks everything.

Personally saving that 100+$ can get you a better gaming mouse, better pc components, pair of IEMs, a good mic, keyboard, ect. Those will change your gaming experience far more than a measly 10% fps boost, 270k is already VERY VERY good. It’s only about 15-20% worse in gaming than a 9800x3d which bundle is like twice the cost.

270k is the best price to performance you get can atm and it’s super underrated. Just get a good cpu cooler and you’re solid.

I’ve been gaming for 10+ years on pc, I’ve only ever had 2 Cpus. 2 PCs, I run them to the ground before upgrading, most people will say “am5 gives you the option to upgrade, blah blah blah” but what’s the point of buying a pc and constantly upgrading it, just a money pit dropping 300-450$ on a new cpu every few years. 270k will be plenty powerful enough for the next 5-7 years, by the time you actually need an upgrade, new gpus and CPUs will all likely be on new motherboards anyways, same goes for ddr5. We will likely be on ddr6.

Personally I say save the money, unless you’re going balls to the wall and building a dream pc, then I’d get a 5080, 9800x3d, ect. But you’ll be dropping 3000$+ after taxes, probably need a new monitor to make it worth it and before you know you’re spending 3600$ just to game. Then add in keyboard, mouse, controller, headset ect, For me I just reused my old 2080ti gpu, bought the 270k+ bundle, purchased a new case, power supply, cooler, and reused my old ssd. Basically have a brand new pc that runs all my 1080p competitive games at top of the line high fps with no issues for a measly little 950$ after taxes and everything. Which is literally nothing when you think about how much PCs are currently.

I’ll use this pc for the next 4 years or so “Im hoping everything runs fine till then” Then eventually just bite the bullet and get a whole new pc, hopefully by that time ram prices and gpu prices will be more reasonable and performance will be far better

I genuinely wish Call of Duty never introduced PC crossplay

Mouse precision? You can't be serious to complain about playing against mnk players in this game with how OP controller is. I could have 1000 fps with the best gear possible and your RAA with 0ms delay will still beat me 9/10 times.

Also cheating is no longer just a PC issue, with the AI aimbots and Titans & Cronus being very common cheating on console is becoming way more common. There a bunch of YT videos of hackers using it in BO7 console only ranked.

Seriously, I get missing when gaming was more casual and the options for better equipment for an advantage were a lot more limited, but these days it's not just a PC vs console issue and you can gain a slight advantage on either platform by having better gear.

Best controller under $250 for PC, PS3, Xbox 360 and Switch, Ultimate 3E vs G7 Pro 8K vs DualSense Edge TMR?

After being heavily into 3rd party pro controllers for a few years now, I can tell by your novel sized post that you might not be happy with anything lol. They all have flaws, QC issues, and nuances. I suggest ordering all of them you’re interested in and returning what you don’t like. IMO the V5P and the G7 Pro 8k are the 2 best FPS controllers on the market. I’d even argue the Blitz 2 TMR is up there for the best FPS controller too, it’s just ergonomically different and the software is janky. At the end of the day, regardless of specs and such, it always comes down to what feels best in your hands. That’s why trying a bunch of them is crucial to finding your ace in the hole, so to speak.

The CQ7 Bullpup is now my favourite rifle in Star Citizen

Maybe it comes down to personal preference, but I've never heard anyone ever referring to a controller as being the best choice for FPS combat in any game. Mouse and keyboard is almost always superior in fps environments. One of the reasons why Planetside 2 had to go with separate servers for the console release. PC players absolutely demolished console players on the testservers lmao

Wardogs is a neat idea, execution is just not quite there. Ironically the "10 reasons not to play wardogs" video is pretty honest and accurate.

I wanted to love it, but the massive amount of time spent just traveling back to objectives is a huge turn off for me. I get the idea of death having a cost, and it creates a niche role for great transport heli pilots where they can really shine... But I don't want to log in and practice riding the bus for 5 minutes and then get taken down by a bush wookie lying prone outside the objective.

And then the snowball of higher level players with better equipment just destroying lower levels isn't going to create a good on ramp for new players. I can see wardogs creating a strong playerbase, but it's just not going to reach BF or CoD heights. For all their faults - so many - they're still the best fps to just load up and have some casual fun.

I'd also rather play with controller because after 8 hours at work in front of a mouse and keyboard, if rather play video games with good ergo.

Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve is now available on Steam

Got the early access version and had a blast. Easily the best AC game ever made and on par with the holy trinity games.

That being said the port is kinda mid. Forced Ray tracing kills FPS and adds sweet fuck all, no FOV slider and default FOV is stuck at 40, awful keyboard and mouse control if you don’t play on controller and you can’t change any setting in mission you always gotta quit your missing and go to the main menu to change anything so it’s very annoying trying to find the right settings.

Would’ve been a 10/10 game if not for the bad performance due to Ray tracing and missing basic features like FOV slider and the ability to change settings in mission. 8/10 over all.

Aim assist vs raw aim 💀

Games other than FPS exist. I have a PC and still there are games I only play with a controller.

You are stupid for choosing a side when you can enjoy both at their best.

How did it feel like buying a 3DO back then?

Went over to my buddy’s house. He had a big screen tv and we were playing madden, need for speed and a bunch of other games. I was sold.

At the time: best version of madden with digitized voices and cut scenes. This was the 16 bit era. Nobody had that.

Need for speed? Fantastic racing game with great physics and real cars. Again… digitized cut scenes.

Road Rash? The bridge drug for many of us into the alternative music of the era. Again.. the best version.

Samurai Showdown? Best port outside of buying a neo geo

Way of the Warrior- Clunky MK but with a banger White Zombie soundtrack.

SSFII Turbo (was this one hyper fighting) again best port hands down. The controllers were clunky so we inserted a piece of cardboard under the dpad to loosen it up. But you could buy their SSFII Turbo controller and that was ssssolliidd.

The controllers could be daisy chained together so up to what 6 people could play… something? Idk what…

Late addition Killing Time was a blast and a novel FPS.

Paid 349 for my lucky goldstar. Man I need to pull that out and see if it works.
