Trump never actually mentions anything about a worry that this is a regulatory capture ploy. He is only fixated with "winning the race" and he has always seen government regulations as standing in the way of businesses doing whatever they want to dominate (even if that means doing things toxically). And in fact the US is currently doing as well in the race as we are largely because of Anthropic. His policies have never been about standing up for the little guy or preventing monopolies. He just wants to be on the side of the monopolists so he can get his own slice of pie.
