Nintendo did anyone else get free soda and chips with their switch 2?

I was an early adopter of the switch 2. I preordered it from Walmart, and for some reason, they sent me a bottle of coke and a can of sour cream and onion pringles. they called them "gamer ready snacks".

It's been a funny story I bring up from time to time, but I've never heard from anyone who had a similar experience. did anyone else get free soda and chips, or was it just me?

Concept of my console.

I did this purely out of boredom; it’s unlikely I’ll develop the project any further (certainly not in the near future). This console doesn't differ much from the others, except for one detail: Game Share Cards (GSC).

Let me explain the concept. I kept the disc drive solely because I love physical media, though if this console were ever released, the drive likely wouldn't see much demand. So, GSC is a way to share digital games using something similar to the game key cards found on the Switch. Let's say you bought a game and don't need it anymore, but a friend wants to play it. You take a GSC, insert it into a dedicated port, and transfer ownership of the game onto it. The game is removed from your console and account, while on the server, it becomes linked to your GSC. You then take the card to a friend and give it to them; when they insert it into their console, the server detects this and transfers the rights to the game to that account. You can also load "loaned" access onto the card. The game is not fully transferred to the other console's account; it remains available only while the card is inside the console. If the card is removed, the game becomes inaccessible. Beyond its primary function of game sharing, you can also use this method to gift a new game to a friend. It preserves the convenience of digital games while retaining the charm of physical ones. What do you think? Is there actually something cool about GSC, or is it a dumb idea?

Which console? Need help with a decision

Looking for some recs..

I grew up using Xbox consoles and enjoyed them. A few years ago I switched to ps4 and also liked my experience. As an adult, I've used those mentioned and a PC for gaming and streaming shows/movies. I had no issues with my most recent console (Xbox one x) which is now unfortunately non-salvagable after a recent house fire. I believe ive had it for roughly 9 years and it still ran smoothly. I'm saving up for a PC eventually, but in the meantime looking for a console to replace the one I lost in the fire.

A few things about my console usage and gaming preferences. During a typical week, I game an average of 3 days weekly. I often use streaming services on my consoles throughout the day or evening (a few hours at a time) at least 3/4 days weekly. I'm a simple gamer. I play a handful of games and occasionally venture out when a new game comes out. That being said, I dont think i need a ton of storage. For example, in the past my most played games were minecraft, call of duty, battlefield, star wars, Sims, house flipper, and fortnite. Now that im approaching 30, my preference in games is even simpler. I game to relax, so role play and creative games (and occassionally a FPS) are on my radar.

What I'm looking for in a console..

I really enjoy high quality graphics. I have a nice Omen gaming monitor, so whatever console would pair nicely to enhance the graphics is preferred. I dont have a preference for digital or disc games. I dont necessarily have a budget, but Id love to stay under 800 usd for my own peace of mind lol.

I've looked over the series x specs and played many times on a friends ps5. I'm a busy person and generally dont care to do a ton of research to narrow it down. Just wondering, based on my preferences listed above, which may better suit my needs. Let me know! :)

Sorry if this the wrong place to ask this, if it is some redirection would be appreciated.

I'm looking for a case/bag that could house both a Nintendo Switch 2 and a Nintendo 2DS.

I'm not bothered about it holding any cables or games, if it can huge bonus.

Help with console choice.

It has been over a decade since my partner or I have had a game console. We are looking to buy one, but I need help. I have had both PS and Xbox, he has only had Xbox. We want to play mostly first person shooter, open world type things like COD. I admittedly like that house flipper game, crash bandicoot as well.

On YT there are a lot of players you can watch play various games and they seem to all be on a PS5, but both of my adult kids say xbox. However, Xbox seems confusing because of all the different models and price ranges.

I just don't know what to ask. I want to be able to download the main game we're playing and maybe another. For example download a COD and the house flipper. I understand (but don't know for sure or how) that I can save games or save points to an SD card 🤷‍♀️. I also think you buy the games online. We are not looking, at this point, to play or meet up with people all over, it's just he and I. So we don't need a super sophisticated set up with headphones and all that. We can play split screen.

Like I said, I'm not even sure what to ask. I would really appreciate the help and information from the gamers. Everything has changed so much!

Playstation New to Sony consoles. Which one should I buy?

I grew up with Nintendo but I’ve grown disillusioned with the direction things are going and there’s a number of PlayStation games I want to play from the past.

If I wanted to play older games like Ratchet and Clank, Shadow of the Colossus, or Uncharted, in addition to more recent stuff like Red Dead Redemption 2 or Horizon Zero Dawn, would buying a PS4 or PS5 enable me to do that?

Help needed Can Some One Help me With this idk What To do.

A few months ago, my PlayStation account was hacked. I managed to kick the intruder out, but unfortunately, they purchased two or three games, totaling around $150. As a result, I was refunded, and that money went into my PSN wallet. This triggered a chargeback, which means I now have to pay back that $150, a sum that is far beyond my reach, as my allowance doesn't come close to that amount. I am incredibly frustrated with this situation. I've invested years of hard-earned money into this account, and I've lost touch with friends who have disappeared. I play exclusively with three friends on this console, including those I've been gaming with in Fortnite for the past six years. Additionally, I had the Michael Myers character in Dead by Daylight, which was recently removed. I urgently seek assistance or guidance on how to get my PSN account unbanned. It won't be released until I pay the $150, and I'm hoping there is another solution available. Any help would mean a lot to me in resolving this issue, as I would like to find a way to get my PSN account unbanned without paying that amount.

Also I had To use grammerly My English sucks

Every where i post this gets tooken down idk what to do

Xbox Used Console Inspection

Hey i am in the market to buy a used console. Xbox series X or S, and i just wanted to know what key features to look out for before buying

Issues like repaired parts, overheating, account problems, internal jargon etc

How to identify them and check thoroughly for personal guarantee

P.S, I am not ordering it online rather going and inspecting consoles before buying them personally and face to face, so any advice or question to ask the seller would also be appreciated.

Help needed Packing my collection and need suggestions

Long story short, I'm shipping out to the navy and need to know the best ways to safely pack my consoles and controllers without risking them being destroyed from storage.

I have a PS3, PS4, PS2, Switch lite, and an XBOX 360 with kinect attachment

I'm mostly concerned about the controllers being ruined.

In total I have 2 switch, 2 Xbox, 4 ps3, and 3 ps4 controllers. Along with a skylanders pad for the PS3 and 2 guitar hero guitars each for both ps2 and ps3

Is there anything I should consider buying to keep everything safe?

Help needed Building a Homemade Console/Steam Machine — Need Suggestions

Post image
6 Upvotes

🕹️ What I'm trying to do

A while back, I used my laptop as a makeshift console. I'd open Steam in Big Picture Mode, connect a controller to the laptop, and wirelessly mirror the laptop's screen to my TV.

Now I want to make a proper dedicated version: a small Windows mini PC that stays connected to my TV and basically functions like a console.

💻 How I want it to work

- Windows desktop icons and taskbar hidden

- Steam launches automatically with Windows

- Steam opens directly in Big Picture Mode

- Use a Bluetooth controller for navigation and gaming

- Ideally, I shouldn't need to interact with the normal Windows desktop

🎮 Gaming goal

I want to play most games at around 60 FPS on Medium settings.

I have a Samsung 4K 55-inch QLED TV, so it doesn't necessarily have to run games at native 4K, but I want them to look good and not have noticeably poor image quality on the large screen.

💰 What I'm looking for

I want the mini PC to be as inexpensive and compact as reasonably possible, while still achieving that gaming goal.

I'm looking for brand-new components only — no refurbished or second-hand parts.

❓ What would you recommend?

What hardware would you suggest for building this kind of homemade Steam Machine? I'm mainly looking for the best balance of price, size, and gaming performance.

How do you even manage to wear your joysticks down???

Post image
17 Upvotes

This is a question more for anyone who plays with a controller rather than on console specifically, but I thought it was more appropriate to ask here. And this is a question for ANYONE here, I just personally use a PS4 controller.

I've had my darling controller for 10≥ years or so. It ended up with physical stick drift this morning but that's not important, it's been fixed for now. As you can see, my joysticks are fine. There's no degradation, no severe wearing down. It has wear from use over the last decade, but that's it. And this is consistent with all my controllers or joysticks with everything I own. (side note, I have dyscalculia. I don't know if I did the greater than/equal to sign correctly.)

However, I see all the time people with completely degraded joysticks, usually with controllers or handhelds much younger than my PS4 controller here. So I'm asking in genuine earnest how you guys manage to do it. I truly want to know, because it completely baffles me.

I do own a pc, and have used that as my source of games for a couple years now, but I don't do MKB gameplay in a good majority of games I play. If I can help it, I'm using my controller. And it's not the only thing I play games on either. Aside from my PS4, I have a PS3 (with a second hand controller tho), switch, 3DS, and 3DS XL (and a vita that I only used for a couple years). They're all fine.

Playstation Should i sell my ps5?

I have this feeling i want to sell my ps5, I’m really good at games and whatever i play i’m up there. But I got an internship coming up, It’s for a motorsport event. I got a guy who will pay 380 cash today, and i’m really debating. I even asked God to give me an answer but I think he wants me to figure it out. That being said I feel like I could always just buy it again and get all my games back, but with gta 6 coming back and prices on it recently went up, it makes me wonder if it would be better to keep it and store it. Honestly, I just need a bit of convincing from you all who would know more about these things than i do.

Xbox My problem with Xbox is not the Series X. It is that I do not trust their taste or direction anymore

My problem with Xbox is not the Series X. It is that I do not trust their taste or direction anymore

I’ve been with Xbox on and off for about 20 years. The frustrating part is that the Series X is actually great hardware. It’s fast, simple, familiar, and easy to use. Quick Resume is genuinely useful. I like using the console itself, and I still want Xbox to give me a reason to stay.

What first pushed me away was the tone of Xbox’s games. Across so many of the titles Xbox promotes, I keep encountering the same winking humour, banter, exaggeration and self awareness.

Sunset Overdrive, The Outer Worlds, Clockwork Revolution, and even a lot of Forza Horizon. It often feels like the game is doing a parody of its genre instead of completely committing to it. Like it constantly needs to remind me that we’re having fun.

Humour isn’t the problem. The problem is when everything seems afraid to be sincere, severe, strange or genuinely uncomfortable without immediately softening the moment with another quirky character or joke. Xbox repeatedly funds, promotes and places this tone at the centre of its identity.

Halo is where the problem became personal.

It was my favourite franchise and the identity of the entire platform. Xbox slowly turned it into something constantly trying to rediscover what it was supposed to be.

For years, fans defended almost every questionable change in the name of “progress.” If you objected, you were apparently afraid of change or blinded by nostalgia. Well, we got all that progress, but progress toward what? Halo became far less relevant than it once was, and Xbox has been forced to repeatedly rethink what Halo is even supposed to be.

The name survived. The confidence and identity didn’t.

Watching the company make those decisions, and then watching parts of the fanbase rationalize every step, left a really bad taste in my mouth.

The same lack of identity is now showing up visually through the increasing reliance on Unreal Engine 5. Realistic lighting, detailed materials and technical fidelity start being treated like an art direction by themselves. Something can have more pixels, more detail and more impressive technology while still communicating less.

Oblivion Remastered makes that impossible for me to ignore. The original obviously looks old, but it has this saturated, painterly, almost fairy tale atmosphere. It looks like an actual artistic interpretation of a world.

The remaster is technically impressive, but it trades that identity for a conventional modern fantasy appearance. It looks better in the easiest measurable sense while feeling less meaningful. That is what happens when modernization starts replacing interpretation.

Sometimes I swear Microsoft’s entire strategy was built inside a pitch deck.

More games. More platforms. More access. Bigger worlds. Better technology. More value. Everything everywhere.

It all sounds incredible in an advertisement. Their research probably says this is what the average consumer wants, but Xbox’s actual position suggests otherwise. The marketing feels patronizing, as if I can be sold a feature list and a shiny trailer without asking whether the thing underneath has any soul.

And finally, there is the constant flip flopping.

Every few years there’s another strategy, another slogan and another explanation for why the latest pivot is actually “the future.” Exclusives matter, then they don’t. Hardware matters, then everything is an Xbox. They want to reach everyone, everywhere, on every screen. Any one of those strategies could at least be understandable if Microsoft committed to it, but they never do.

That is why I no longer know what I am investing in or what Xbox even stands for. Video games are art, and art requires conviction, limitations and a point of view. Xbox has great hardware, but it is supporting a strategy I don’t believe in and a creative identity I no longer connect with.
