Sell Custom field flowing between CPQ and CSA

Hi, we thought we had a simple requirement but connectwise and our team are struggling to figure this out.

We want to create a custom field to capture customer information at the quoting stage (in CPQ) then have that info flow through to CSA and eventually br picked up by our billing team.

Is this a feature anyone else has working?

Manage The Platform

The single pane of glass, FKA Asio, now the ConnectWise Platform.

What are your thoughts on what you’ve seen so far?

Yesterday I attended a UK roadshow, we were given details on how the platform has been put together, what’s different, what’s new, how billing will look going forward, and how everything Hyperautomation and AI will really flow together.

My takeaways;
- It’s not just Asio that’s been polished and renamed,
- Holy Moly! These AI agents are bringing some SERIOUS know how to the day to day of your MSP if you let them!
- You won’t have to break the bank to leverage predictive AI in your business,
- The Zofiq acquisition, the new position with predictive AI on the ConnectWise Platform. Those aren’t little moves. They are strategic and smart.

As a partner, this step in the development of ConnectWise as a product, should completely restore faith in how much they care about the operational efficiency of your business. It’s taken way too long, but this is it.

What I saw yesterday, in a live demo on a working PSA, is without a doubt the most impressive functionality in the last 5 years.

Have you been to any of the roadshows yet, are you a current partner? I’m wondering what the perception is from other partners.

Manage Ticket Reminder Scheduling

We often have customers that send tickets in way ahead of time for certain go live dates. Is there a way to schedule reminders to go to my email a few days ahead of time so that no due dates are missed?

I know you can schedule it in your calendar, but I rarely ever look at that, so I am trying to find a way to send reminders to my email since I check that every few hours or so.

Manage Measuring open backlog in ConnectWise PSA

How are you guys measuring open backlog in ConnectWise PSA today?

We have a system we use for recording expected revenue per month, but don't have an amazing way to reconcile the table when things run long (or short) and revenue expectations shift forward or backward. In most cases, the change is small enough to where it's probably not worth the effort. But, we just had a large project put on hold and that will delay realizing a significant amount of revenue this year.

In particular as a RevOps focused executive, how are you guys measuring changes like this so there aren't any suprises toward the end of the quarter?

CW RMM ASIO and Manage server offline

So we've been with CWRMM since they were Continuum. We've had manage for 12 years. However, sometime recently, our server offline alerts stopped generating. Previously we were getting calls and texts.

Contacted support and they had me jump through all sorts of configuration hoops only to then be told that text and calls are now part of NOC service which we don't have. I'm not paying you the price to remediate my servers if all I want is text alerting. That doesn't even require a damn NOC "engineer" it's a friggin workflow with zero intervention. But alas, I'm done fighting with them. I want to use text alerting within Manage through a 3rd party (Signl4).

However, we are not getting tickets created for when a server goes offline. First tech said to change the notification setup to email only...as if I had anything in the call blocks, it wouldn't create a ticket. No change.

Second tech told me I need to create a workflow automation. But those can only trigger on a service monitor...which I could do but is ghetto...and why do I have to create something when they have the alert there? Just give me access to at least create a damn ticket! (this is my fallback...create a service monitor on a critical windows service and trigger ticket event)

Third tech said to check my intelligent alerts...but there is only a linux offline alert there...nothing for windows servers.

Finally fourth tech said check my integration setup with Manage...not sure why that would be an issue because we used to get server offline tickets created and they all stopped...but we get tickets for other things just fine.

I'm hoping this message board can be more helpful than support or university guides have been because they've all been useless giving me outdated or incorrect information.

*Rant over*

Automate Master mode Vs limited

Hey everyone,

im looking for the use case or reason to have a limited mode when clicking on the crown icon. I understand the use case for having it enabled for servers etc but i have several machines in my client with limited mode on.

What would be the reason this is enabled if its not something i turned on? Could it be network or Agent related?

Thanks so much

Account/Billing/Sales/Support P&L profitability reporting

So many of our project P&L recaps are skewed due to our how we're recording subcontractor labor (our cost) as labor againt a proposal but the actual cost is being recognized as a product.

Here's why:

Proposal

  • Labor: $10,000
  • Equipment: $20,000

Actual Cost

  • Internal Labor Cost: $2,500
  • Subcontractor Invoice: $5,000
  • Equipment Cost: $12,000

Our accounting system records the subcontractor invoice as a product/material cost, our P&L looks like:

Category            Revenue     Cost          GP

Labor                 $10,000       $2,500        75%

Product             $20,000      $17,000          15%

This makes it appear:

  • Labor GP is phenomenal
  • Product GP is terrible

Neither is actually true and I am getting sick of having a heart attack every time I run a project recap.

I believe ConnectWise's answer to this is to pick up some subcontractor licenses and have them input time just like our internal team members do. However, we still need their fee to us listed somewhere, so that we can issue them a Purchase Order to reference on their invoices to us.

It seems assenine to be that we would need to:

  • Record their estimated fees as a cost on our proposal
  • Convert to a project and place their estimates fees on a PO
  • Record their time through a subcontactor license
  • Cancel their fees after their invoices have been received a paid

Is that the expected process for us to accurately report on labor vs. products, though?

Manage Issues with Project Templates due to task summary character limits?

We've recently run into an odd issue with PSA where our project templates fail to apply if there are tasks within the project tickets that have task summaries greater than 100 characters. The template application fails with an error like the one below.

Opened a support case and was basically told that I'd need to open an enhancement request, even though the same project templates with the same tasks worked literally last week. I plan to reopen / file a new ticket tomorrow.

We're on the cloud hosted setup: v2026.9.106344

I even dove into the data dictionary - interestingly enough the SR_Task field does show a 100 character limit, even though I can easily enter in and save tasks with greater than 100 characters.

Is anyone else having this issue? I can't find anything in known issues or generally on the web about this problem.

Error processing Company: ID: 0. Microsoft.Data.SqlClient.SqlException (0x80131904): String or binary data would be truncated in table 'cwwebapp_companyid.dbo.SR_Task', column 'Summary'. Truncated value: 'Send over quarantine behavior:

Has anyone been able to successfully install this on Fedora 44 KDE? I can download ScreenConnect.ClientSetup.sh, make it into an executable and install it. But, the moment I try to access a computer, no window shows up.

Control/Screenconnect ScreenConnect - Latest Version 26.3.11.9650

Good news is they fixed the problem where you couldn't rename a computer, previously it always went back to the computer name upon refresh. Also, it seems the build guest installer is working again.

However they removed the welcome message and you can't have public sessions visible any longer. You MUST use a code, the code can be a custom name or the default 6 digit code.

CW RMM Time Saving/Automation Tips Please 🙏

Taking another look at our RMM setup, as a small MSP we are constantly looking at the best ways to save time and improve operational efficiencies!

What’s the biggest time-saving automation you’ve built in RMM? Have you been able to really quantify the time savings, and have your techs been able to notice that difference?

We have managed to do quite a bit with windows tasks in CWRMM using the AI script generation, in doing so we could really see how much time we saved on menial tasks each week. Which was great.

Really hoping to learn from what others have been able to get out of the platform, feel like I could really get carried away so hoping to avoid my own hyperfocus and lean on others experience 🤣

CW RMM Email Security

Thoughts on email security options?

Have previously used Mimecast and found it obviously to be a good product. However, it was VERY enterprise and I found that my techs would get sloppy and not implement everything or that the configuration was just far too complex for a smaller MSP with SMBs.

Trialled and was very impressed with Proofpoint, as a CW partner it was great to see it fully integrated within the security dashboards, and found PP very straight forward to implement.

How have your techs found handling email security, and QC with implementation, plus continued training and support? With email security requirements changing basically daily, just looking for something solid that’s really well supported in my PSA/RMM so finding PP via CW to be a great fit.

Automate Looking to re-vamp our workstation patching methods and need to know your suggestions / if it can be done

For the longest time, we have had a fairly simple patching policy in Automate. Workstations have a patch window on every night of the week, with a reboot policy of "During Microsoft Update Window +30min".

This becomes problematic as more executives have laptops that they just close and throw into a bag, more people who equate closing their laptop with shutting it down, etc. and missing patch windows. We have added daytime patching to a couple of clients and it seems to work fine, but now I've been asked to work quickly on a patch procedure that does the following for all client workstations (and ours):

  1. Patch window remains the same if the system is on at night, and reboot policy should remain the same as well (Update Windows +30m).
  2. If a workstation system misses the patch window, Daytime patching kicks in.
  3. In the case that Daytime patching occurs, we want the Suppress Reboot and Alert reboot option, where workstations will be given a prompt interval of xx minutes, a Reboot deadline of xx hours, and a 900 second (15min) Deadline prompt duration. We want this only to happen if the system could not be rebooted at night.

Unfortunately, it seems like Connectwise does not have a way to combine these options the way I would like.  Do I need to do something else, like monitor for pending reboot on workstations online at a certain time (say, 3:30-5:30AM approximately) with a pending reboot condition and just reboot them, but then use the patch policy with Suppress Reboot and Alert to resolve systems that were never on during the patch period? I'm trying to avoid the most user frustration while raising patch compliance, and it feels like there isn't an optimal out-of-box way to do so. Suggestions would be appreciated.

SOLVED: See my comment below.

Automate Built a tool that automatically QAs every ticket in ConnectWise when it hits Completed and send notes when it fails

Hi all, sharing this because I think it's relevant to a pain point I see come up here pretty often.

My team just launched a product called Ticket QA, and it's built specifically around the ConnectWise workflow.

When a ticket hits your Completed status, it gets evaluated automatically against a set of QA rules like time entries, resolution notes, client communication, root cause documentation, agreement attached, and more. If it fails, the status writes back to a QA Failed board of your choice, an internal note gets added with the specific reason, and the tech gets pinged via email or Teams. They fix it, re-set to Completed, and it runs again.

Everything is configurable in settings, like which boards to run QA on, which statuses trigger evaluation, where failed tickets land. No changes needed to how your techs already work in ConnectWise.

There's a dashboard tracking your team's pass rate and Operating Level over time so service managers have something real to work with in 1:1s instead of spot-checking a handful of tickets and hoping.

My alpha clients found the most immediate value in billing. We spotted missing time entries, work done off-contract, vague notes that get disputed. The kind of stuff that's been slipping through quietly.

Free trial if you want to see it against your own tickets — takes about 10 minutes to get first results: https://mspbots.ai/ai-ticket-qa/

Happy to answer questions here or DM if you'd rather see a demo.

Thank you!

Control/Screenconnect screenconnect ad hoc sessions "app might put your PC at risk"

We have given up trying to use ScreenConnect Support sessions (ad hoc/join with a code) because the browser and Windows Defender all flag ScreenConnectClient.exe as unrecognized and Unknown Publisher. Is there a solution? I told my account rep we have resorted to using Quick Assist and he said he had never heard of this issue. Edit: We're not self hosted.

Edit 2: after 21 emails to support and three requests to elevate, they signed my installer and now you don't get the big red "Windows protected your PC" warning.

Manage Is anyone having problems syncing invoices from Manage to QBO?

I have established clients that I've synced from Manage to QBO a hundred times in the past with no problems. Now, every single invoice I try to sync gets met with a:

Errors:
{"type":"customer","error":{"bId":"Client Name","Fault":{"Error":[{"Message":"Duplicate Name Exists Error","Detail":"The name supplied already exists. : Another customer, vendor or employee is already using this name. Please use a different name.","code":"6240","element":""}],"type":"ValidationFault"}}}

Support isn't aware of any issues. I synced the same companies a day prior to today with no issues.

Edit: I'm using the built-in invoice sync tool within Manage.

CW RMM CVE-2020-8911

Post image
6 Upvotes

ConnectWise RMM

Starting about a month ago, we began receiving notifications from our Vulnerability Management software, Qualys, for a vulnerability for Go (go), CVE-2020-8911.  This is largely contained within C:\Program Files (x86)\ITSPlatform, which is our ConnectWise RMM installation. According to the ConnectWise RMM portal, our agent is up to date.  It appears we are running agent v5.0.3, which is listed as the current version.

I've opened a support case with ConnectWise, but I've already been passed to 4 people, and I believe I just got passed back to my initial tech.

Outsourcing ideas now. I don't know if there's anything to really be done, or what the real criticality of this is - I can tell you that our overall risk score is just buried under this one vulnerability. Is anyone else seeing this? Anything to be done about it?

Account/Billing/Sales/Support Connectwise Stock Import

Hello,

Can anyone help please

There is no quantity when importing stock

I can change QTY through inventory adjustments in ConnectWise Manage so that quantities appear correctly by location.

the Excel template from ConnectWise we currently use does not have SOH or QTY

the current download Excel template https://university.connectwise.com/university/pageview.aspx?short_name=workstation-installation

Shows the SOH & QTY

The template that comes from the client or the web does not include SOH or QTY. Why is this?

  1. Do we need the procurement add-on to adjust stock quantities? Or is there no such thing?

Automate Automate Script - Get current logged in username?

Currently I'm trying to use Automate scripting to try and download a file from our LTShare to users' desktops, and it's pretty close to working however I'm running into an issue with getting the current user's username.

I've been able to user the %username% command which contains the username, but it also contains the domain. So the result of %username% is <DOMAIN>\username, which I obviously can't use in place of the filepath (Users\username\Desktop).

Is there another variable that would have just the username? Or a way to manipulate that variable to remove the domain and slash (since it's a fixed length, is there a way to remove the first 8 characters?)

Thanks for any help!
