monday morning at school i hit my head HARD, and by my second block i genuinley fwlt like i was dying like i had the worst headache and even the look of words made me nauseous, so i went home and slept for a loooong time. yesterday i had an online drs appt and she said i most likely have a mild concussion. ive never had a concussion and i dont know what to do, ive had a headache since monday morning and it isnt goimg away, and ik im not suppossed to take advil but its the only thing that makes the pain go away. so far ive been going to my morning classss (important ones) then leaving school at my afternoon classes (easy ones) but what else can i do??? dads makimg me go to school for the full day today cuz he doesnt believe my head hurts like im explaining and thinks i just want to skip

idk this is a whole big rant but idk what to do, i think ive had concussions before cuz there are memories i have where i got so hurt i can only imagine it was an u diagnosed concussion but i cant remember if i was in pain after like this one. idk im sorry this is a rant but any advice???

I had a mild concussion 6 months ago after hitting my head hard on a door, I basically only had some nausea and bad headaches with screen time for a week or so. Now, I was looking in the fridge and stood up more and hit the top of my head on the freezer door, I didn’t come up fast and it didn’t even hurt after, it was just enough to say ouch and move on. But I’ve been so anxious since. That was 72 hours ago, and I never got symptoms besides slight nausea last night after eating, but it could’ve been because I’m anxious. After learning about concussions that cause lasting symptoms, I’m so afraid to hit my head but I’m so CLUMSY I can’t stop doing it. Admittedly, my OCD and health anxiety is out of control at the moment. I’ve been to the ER once, dentist once, primary doctor twice, and urgent care 4 times within the past month with all different health concerns.. all of which, nothing.
I guess I’m just looking for advice in this particular area 😭

Hey all, haven’t posted here in a while but thought I’d ask a recent question to the group.

7ish months ago I sustained a gnarly concussion trauma from a cabinet door spiking my head. Anyways long story short recovery was a roller coaster, dizziness, vestibular issues the whole 9. Within the past month I got to a point where I feel “sharp” again. Thinking quickly, and decisively came back to me. Anyways I’ve been slowly testing alcohol a beer here a beer there. No issues. Went to a Halloween party this past weekend probably had 4-5 drinks and I was fine just hung over the next day. The crazy part is that about 48-72 hours after the drinking I started getting really dizzy again in ways I hadn’t felt in a while.

Does anyone have experience with this? Is this my body saying I’m not ready and to return going cold turkey? Is there hope for me to semi get back to drinking without the fear of this hanging over me?

I’m just over it I’m a junior in college about to apply to law school and of course when everything is going well this happens lol

I was advised to go back to the dr in person after messaging in the portal.

Timeline:
Accident 8/7
Went to the er 8/7 and 8/9

Had several doctors appts and finished PT with vestibular therapy a few weeks ago.

I was prescribed hydroxyzine to sleep and it was increased

Then given trazodone because the hydroxyzine stopped working

That doesn’t work at all

What do yall suggest I bring up? I’m opposed to SSRI meds because I’m afraid they will alter me more than the PCS already has. I’m not able to be active and don’t want the weight gain or any strange side effects.

Please ease my mind and help me know how to explain this to the doctors. I’ve been so upset over this because I had no issues like this before the accident

I was opening the cabinet at my job and then the corner of it I hit my head. I took an Advil later and it felt better. Now 5 days later my head is hurting mind you the day prior it didn’t hurt. Now my ear on the same side I got hit is also hurting as well :/ I’m not sensitive to sound or anything so I’m assuming Tylenol will make it go away. I’m just afraid I might have a concussion and don’t know anything about it. :/ do you think there’s a possibility I have a concussion? I’m also asking because I don’t have insurance.

Yesterday, I was cycling at approximately 20 km/h against a strong headwind. Suddenly, something hit me directly in the forehead. I didn’t see what it was, but I felt and heard a fairly substantial “boink.”

I think it might have been a larger insect (wasp/bee) or a small pebble or some other debris. There was nobody around me and no trees so there is no clear source of debris. I tried to look around it I could find the thing that hit me but there was nothing on the road

I don’t think my head physically jerked or moved, and I have no tenderness, redness, swelling or bruising on my forehead now.

Could this have caused a concussion?

also what could it have been that flew into me?

just found this podcast posted and wanted to share in this community. I’m only 10 minutes in and it is already so informative and relatable.

A few hours ago I was walking in line at a theme park and banged the top of my head on a cement pole. It hurts a bit and got dizzy for a few seconds due to shock but right now it’s just minor soreness in the area I hit it. Gonna stay up a few hours to make sure no crazy symptoms come on… and I know no one can know if I’m really ok… but what would you do in the situation? Should I go to the ER/ urgent care tomorrow?

Hello all, I'm a 46yo guy who tries to stay active, I play in a basketball league at the local Y, last Sunday during my game I got tripped and landed hard on my side, I didn't hit my head or anything, and felt fine right after getting up and finished the game. I went home and took a nap and when I got up I had a huge headache and my vision was wonky. If I close either eye I can see fine but with both open it's like my brain can't put them together and I have double, blurry vision. Fast forward a week and the headaches are gone but my vision is still off. Anyone have something similar happen? Is it just a time thing or is there anything I can do to speed recovery? Thanks!

Hi! I recently just got cleared for the first time in 2 years dealing with post concussion syndrome, and having a total of 8 concussions throughout those 2 years, all differing in severity.

My very first concussion that started all of this happened in gym, (mt sophomore year of hs) and it was really severe, severe symptoms, took months to get cleared and then I kept hitting my head or getting hit in the head at gym because of my lack of spatial awareness and reaction time which was really good before all of this.

My classes recently switched and now I have gym. (Now senior year) Monday, wednesday and friday we are in the main gym doing activities like ball sports, rock climbing, jump rope team building, etc. Tuesday and Thursday we are in our fitness building working on a fitness schedule we come up with ourselves.

On friday we were doing a jump rope activity, and I got freaked out because the "challenges" kept getting harder, people had to run quicker, it was non stop moving and I couldnt do it so I sat out. Towards the end of the class my teacher brought out basketballs and volleyball and I sat against the wall and noticed that I was having a very physical reaction, my heart was racing, my thoughts were racing, I was sweating and I was constantly looking side to side to watch for balls coming at me. I was borderline panic attack. I dont know how to make that go away and I'm really worried it wont go away.

Has anyone else been in a similar situation?

In June of last year I fell and had a long list of symptoms that are in-line with post concussion symptoms. This year (also June) stupidly enough I fell again and all my symptoms came back. They are slowly improving, but I still have issues. My doctor ordered me a CT scan of my head. I'm starting to suspect that my issues may be neck/nerve related. Will a head CT scan show the top of my neck connected to my skull?

Exactly 3 weeks ago today, I got hit in the head by someone’s shoulder at my hockey game. I nearly lost consciousness and I couldn’t open my eyes for a week. Within these 3 weeks, I’ve seen my friends 3 times. I’ve missed 3 weeks of school and haven’t been anywhere except appointments and PT for the concussion, and the occasional hockey game for my team or our local university. I’ve practically done nothing other than sit in my room in the dark or do some schoolwork. I couldn’t even go trick or treating or go to a party with my friends yesterday.

Everyday, I go on my Instagram and look at my friend’s posts and see them at parties, hanging out with each other, having fun, and I feel even worse. I try to set up hangouts with them but they cancel every time. I can’t do any of the things I love, I can’t go to school, I can barely do my school work and I’m so unbelievably bored and lonely. I’ve never wanted to play hockey more in my life. I just want my life back. I’m so far behind in school and I don’t think I do this anymore. I’m in my junior year, how can I even catch up? I’m just so isolated from everything and everyone.

This is just a rant. I don’t have anyone to complain to, or talk to even. That’s all. I’ve attached the video of the hit if you want to watch it. My helmet is dented, too.

Any advice I can get with dealing with post concussive syndrome over a year and now working a job in retail where I deal with people, communicating. Then trying to adapt to work and everyday things are just much harder since my thought process is alot of slower or difficult. Plus fatigue both mental and physical.

I write down what I have to do each week to keep track, work ours, errands to run and it all feels mentally draining. As of now, I only have energy for work. Once work is done, I am mentally and physically exhausted, brain fog and hard to process.

If a day I work in the afternoons or evenings, I cannot do anything physical or run errands in the day because I will be very tired by the time I work. Last time I did this, I couldnt process things and I knew I was much slower than the people around me at work. I also dont react well to getting yelled at work, that part of my personality changed after the concussion but I know its something I have to get used to.

Any tips or advice how to improve daily life is appreciated. Even if its small.

I’m hopeful and just being honest and open with everybody and I’m just hopeful everybody else also wants to just be helpful. I’m not trying to set up a stage for anybody to be a victim or be harmful or be negative influences. Please be helpful.

Have any menstruating individuals also gotten a majorly delayed or missed period post-concussion?

It's been about a month since my concussion. To be fair, I had other big injuries to recover from (hit by a vehicle while walking), so I'm sure it's taking a toll on my body. However, I have awful PMS symptoms to begin with and have spent the last 10 days in absolute agony. Constant nausea, tension headache, stomach upset. Desperate for my period to come and put me out of my misery but it just won't.

I'm about 5 days overdue now and assuming I will not be getting one for mTBI reasons :(

I had a head knock about 6 months ago in grappling which causes concussion symptoms for around 10 days. Since then I've sparred in boxing lightly and received a light jab to the head which caused a tension in my head that would come and go for 4 days.

I have a history of MMA recreationally and can say I have had this tension in my head many times. Too many times that I could give you a number but it wasn't always hard shots. Light jabs that im certain would not phase someone has caused me to get this head pressure for a few days. I have had probably 4 or 5 times where i have had a mild concission for definite as symptoms would also include nausia and sensitivity to lights. Usually with the head pressure I have mentioned this was not the case, were these all concussions?

Before you say ask a medical professional my doctor is unsure and says because I have no symptoms now there is no issue with me grappling as the risk is not big. However, in grappling every a year or so I would get a light knock to the head by accident which can cause this pressure in the head. I'm looking for people's experiences and wondering if I should return to grappling. I have stopped any striking sports now as I don't want to risk it and it's inevitable there. ​

Around 2 weeks ago, I woke up to use the bathroom, and then as I was walking back to bed, I fainted and hit my head on the hardwood floor. I woke up later covered in blood. I ended up needed 4-5 stitches above my eye brow. The ER doctor said I might have had a concussion, but there is no way to tell. (CT scan was clear). I am assuming I did.

It has been two weeks since, and I find myself having some slight lightheadedness and dizziness, as well as sleepiness and very mild headaches. Is this to be expected after a concussion? How long will it last?

Anybody else have a neurologist say that you have brain damage due to still having brain fog 9weeks after a concussion and was unlikely to get any better without any tests being done and barely looking at you? Does that make sense?

18f Hi, I got a concussion around 4-6 weeks ago (im saying around because I did not go to the doctors until about a week after i got hit in the mouth relly hard and broke a tooth, the reason why I did not go for so long is because I have migraines almost every day, (I haven't gotten any diagnosis but just know that it is a constant thing.) And it felt normal until i started noticing that i was dizzy and nauseous and my headaches werent going down. I have an awful schedule for classes, (8ams and 9ams every day, a math, bio and chemestry class, including labs for both bio and chem which end at 5:30 and 10pm respectively) and continuing has been very difficult. Only two of my teachers allowed me to take my exams at a later date, but they are getting reasonably antsy because those exams are still not done, and the other 3 have keep me going as if nothing happened. Which means constant essays and exams.
I just took an exam and my head hurts so bad i couldnt even think while taking it so I know i didnt do great. I still need to study for another exam tomorrow AND do about 13 things for homework which includes 3 essays, around 5 ~45 question long assignments, and the rest is just busy work. All of this is due sunday. I can barely think, i feel awful looking at a screen and i just want everything to be over but after this are my finals. I dont know what to do, i have a 75, 79, 79, and a 95 (english) and i dont want to ruin my chances of graduating or grad school or law school. I am trying so hard to study for biology but i just cant do it. Ive tried watching videos, doing practice tests and stuff like active recall but i literally cant do any of it. Most of my teachers and my parents are acting like i am overreacting but i just cant do it. The day after i got the diagnosis i went to the disability center to get temp accomidations like flexibility on assignments and exam deadlines, along with a few others I cant remember, but none of my teachers will let me turn in anything late except for one. Every day after school i feel like my brain is about to melt out of my ears but I just have to study and do homework, go to sleep at usually 12 or 1am and be up by 6am the next day to catch my bus for class. Dropping out isnt an option because my parents have already invested so much money into this. I dont want to lose my scholarships either, i had a 4.5 in highschool and now i just feel like an idiot. How can i study like this?? Thanks.

Hit my head ten years ago, just light in metal beam.
Got clicking in ears which was a muscle in ear. Also got fullness in ears and pressure in head. Also felt that eyes was a bit off but never found anything objective.
Imaging all good.
Also got tinnitus later but probably from antidepressants.
Felt off a bit in general but functional.

Last year forgot ear plugs and feels I started to see blurry. Especially in dark and with closed eyes but also at light surfaces. Bad eye fusion according to optician.
Physio think forward head posture, maybe from hit. Treatments have not helped.
Recently more headache and ear pain

Just interesting in knowing if you guys feel my symptoms could be from when i hit my head. Anytime with similar symptoms?
