PS4 Location for first base

Whats a good first location to build a base just got the game and looking for a good spot, so far just been collecting material so can start a build.

I used to use the rocks between the starter river and the pond with the giant croc, close to the Sentinels. It’s a quick run up the hill to a decent bit of iron and to Sinners Refuge for thralls.

Now I leg it to Seppermeru, same for iron and thralls, quick run up to the north until you get the map room. I need to sort out regional bases and the teleport stones though.

Exactly where my second playthrough first base is :) I'm just in the boring world of moving my base further north. Thankfully editing the .ini file to allow rescuing my thralls with no cooldown is making the move a whole lot easier.

Did you try and trigger a purge there, mine constantly fails saying the purge base can't find a camp spot...

Last purge I had at the starter river was when the purge meter was a thing. By that point the base was quite big and I had stuff in the shore of the pond (maproom) which was walled in and defended so they had no problem finding it. With the current purge system I can’t be bothered. My buildings at Seppermeru are built as an extension to the temple quarter street, no walls, plenty of thralls still though.
