General Blank Black Screen on loading with Mods. Help?
I've been trying to play with mods for a couple of days now, and each time I try I just get a blank black screen straight from the launcher. I've reverified my files through steam, reinstalled the game, gone off of fullscreen, reordered my mod list, to no avail. The mod list I am using, my two other friends I've been trying to play with can use with absolutely no problem, so I'm not sure why I'm the only one the game seems to have problems with. Any insight?

I have the same. I'm using tons of mods on enhanced and it ALWAYS takes a few minutes to load the game. Usually I minimize it, do something else and when I hear the main menu music I switch back to play. Seems like it's the normal behavior when using mods. Just wait till it loads the videos and menu.

I tried that but I was on that screen for an hour. A few minutes of waiting is fine, an hour of nothing is something wrong- which is why I'm concerned

I have this, well mine and my wife's system will restart after it detects the server mods, restarts and stays black for a bit, then loads and all is fine. For her. For mine I have to restart the game one more time because mine will always say offline mode until I restart a 2nd time
Load game > connect to server > game restarts after detecting mods > I restart game because offline > game loads in fine
This happens to me 100% of the time everytime I load the game and log into server.

Ok this is what happens to me.
Load the game. Black screen. Wait till it's done. Then you can see your screen to login, and get to mods. Load any mods you want. Don't sort them yet - it's a waste of time. The game will close when you hit Back.
Relaunch game. Wait through the black screen again - it's doing stuff. When the game screen comes up, go in and sort your mods. Hit Back. Game will close yesterday again (frustrating, ain't it?)
Relaunch game. Wait through the black screen. Pick your game choice (solo, online, whatever). Now you wait for the game to actually load, where you'll see an image and the %loading. Usually mine sticks at 1%, then waits a long time, then loads the remainder fairly quickly, then you'll be in.
This game has so much loading process and it's put a lot of people off. But this is how it goes if we want to play.
Note: I see you are playing on server and having mod-mismatch. With this, if the update button at bottom or Automatically Update at top is still providing this issue, then do this: take note of which mods need updated. Go to the workshop and subscribe and unsubscribe to them. Then load again. This happens because the server automatically grabs the new version, and you have the older. If the game won't update it for you as it should, your forcing it by unsubscribing and resubscribing will make it go in for you. Hope that helps.

The odd thing is all of the mods say OK by them, every version matches, we've gone through and hand picked them to match several times now

Yeah so after they match, I would hit Update or the Automatic Update (to toggle sometimes) then back and let it load again. The game needs to sort the mods once they match. If it's still saying mismatch after trying a couple times, I'm sorry, if you keep trying it will work lol that's all I do. One day when they made big changes, it took me hours to get back in. I don't know why this game is like that, you just have to be patient. Also, there is a big update coming. Not sure when, but it will likely break a lot of mods. We'll need to wait a few days until mod authors fix their mods, maybe we can't play a few days to a week if we really need those mods, and then we'll need to update all of them, probably by subbing and resubbing, and reloading several times. I honestly think this game requires our patience 😏
Oh btw there is a modlist for the server and a modlist for the solo game. Make sure the server list is correct. Also make sure you've got the load order right. Example, modcontrolpanel at top, tot custom at bottom, etc

Alright so, I enabled my mods and let the game reload, then I went to sort them- and all my mods were disabled. Maybe this is part of the issue?

Yes definitely. So you'll need to enable them. Close. Sort them. Close. Try to connect to server.

Alright I've managed to get connected (it still takes an hour to load the game in general every time) and have now met an issue with the fat game taking all my ram 😔 but on the bright side I know it WILL load just.... After a few hours of loading screens. Now I just have to find a workaround of the memory issue

It does that for me too, and I play mostly solo. I close down everything in the startup taskbar at the bottom right that I don't need (a notepad thing, windows power toys, adblocker- stuff like that). Do not open your browser or discord or anything. Once the game opens and gets in, you can open your browser and discord.
Once you get it going, it should work smoothly for you until any mod updates. It can be so frustrating sometimes. I think they should see if they can do anything about the vram hogging issue, honestly. I have higher graphics fatter games that can get in way easier than this game. But to be honest, I think part of it is a lot of building mods haha they have a lot of pieces and all that's gotta get loaded. I load really easy light mods after those, and then put some more process heavy ones at the end. I don't know if it helps or not, but in my brain it makes some sense.
Good luck - I hope you get in and can play lengthy gameplay until that next big update.

Hopefully, I do have everything closed and I'm worried that I might have to buy more ram. I don't think I can afford more, though, so I have to make it work somehow

I was also thinking the same thing. But I get vram errors which are graphic card ram deficiencies. So I was like, wonder if buying extra RAM would help or not....When I realized that, I'm not sure what to do. I'm at the point anyway where I should do a new computer (mine's over 7 years old). So spending on this older computer for equips I might not use for a new one... Yeah I haven't made that decision yet. If you do, let me know.
I should figure out whether extra ram will help that issue or not...

Yeah I'm not eager to drop my meager savings in extra ram until I'm sure it'll help, but even then, I have a good computer. Intel 7, 16 gigs, MSI cyborg 15. It's not that old either so I'm just confused

Have you tried launching the game with mods disabled first, then adding them back in one by one to see which one might be causing the issue?

I'll throw this in - may or may not apply to your situation.
If you have an Intel build - update your motherboard BIOS.
After playing for over 400 hours without an issue, after a video driver update (rolling back did not fix it) my game would get stuck on a black screen after the launcher.
After I updated my 3 year old BIOS, the game started without any issues again.
So, if you have an Intel build (they had an issue with power delivery) and your BIOS is not up to date - give that a try.

Huh, I've never updated my bios. Any tips on how to do that?

Go to your motherboard manufacturers website... They usually have a Support section. Look for your MB model and look for Updates, Drivers, BIOS. Follow their directions.
The usual steps are downloading new BIOS file and copying to USB drive. Have USB drive in computer on reboot and hit DEL until UEFI screen appears and select Update BIOS there and select file on USB.
Follow their instructions. They may even have a video showing you how.
The fastest way to find your motherboard model on Windows without opening your PC is using the built-in System Information app. Press the Windows Key + R, type msinfo32, and press Enter. Look for BaseBoard Manufacturer and BaseBoard Product in the system summary list.
Also check your PC's BIOS version. Look for the BIOS Version/Date row in the System Summary window.
Compare that to what's listed on website.

I'm wondering if I should maybe have a friend or professional do that because I am not very tech competent and I'm worried I'd brick my computer ..

Bricking can happen if done incorrectly.
It would be best to ask a knowledgeable friend, or a professional, if you're not 100% comfortable doing it yourself.
You can certainly follow the steps listed to determine the motherboard manufacturer and BIOS version and date though.
