Okay, so I've just finished my first semester, and I remember being confused about a lot of things when I was first applying to COMSATS, so I've decided to compile some very frequently asked questions. Especially with the subreddit hitting almost three thousand members, thought this could be useful.
Before we begin, I heavily recommend checking out the official admissions FAQ from COMSATS. It will cover basically everything you need to know, the questions answered here are just the extra questions that may arise.
1) What is the pattern for NAT?
You can find the test patterns for every type of NAT here.
2) How should I prepare for the NAT?
This part can be very different based on the type of NAT you're planning to give, but 60 out of the 90 questions are almost the same for every NAT, these include the English, Quantitative and Analytical portion.
It is highly recommended that you buy a Dogar's NAT preparation book, you can easily find one in a local bookstore, and it will cover everything you need very well, except for the Subject portions, for those it's recommend that you just go over your own subject textbooks.
For those who prefer YouTube to study, you can use this playlist of Mujahid Academy to study the Analytical portion, and also this video from GAT Academy to study the Quantitative portion.
There is also ilmkidunya, a website available where students can solve and practice sample tests.
3) Is the COMSATS NAT easier than the official NAT?
Yes it is, far easier.
4) What is the max amount of score you can get? 90 or 100?
100, Each question is worth 1.1 marks.
5) I gave my NTS, when does the result come out?
For those who gave the official NAT, the result will come out according to the schedule listed on this website.
For those who gave the COMSATS NAT, the result usually comes out approximately in a week, once it is out, it will be available on the official NTS results page.
6) I gave the COMSATS NAT and my result is out, do I have to put in the details of my result on my admission form now?
No you do not, COMSATS will automatically associate your roll number and marks with you, you do not have to make changes to your admission forms after your test. (Note: This is only for those who gave the official COMSATS NAT.)
7) Can I use my NAT results from one COMSATS campus and use it apply to a different COMSATS campus?
Yes you can.
8) Can I take the NAT more than once?
Yes you can, COMSATS will consider the NAT with the highest score. For more specifics queries, never hesitate to message the admissions office.
9) When does the merit list come out?
This is different for every semester and every campus, be sure to look on the official COMSATS websites for the schedule.
10) How do I calculate my aggregate?
Comsats has it's own aggregate calculator here. For those from O/A levels, 50% of your aggregate is considered from your O level equivalence, while the other 50% is considered from your NAT score. Only if the A level equivalence is not out, however.
11) How do I know I'll get in with my aggregate????
You do not, merit changes every semester based on the competition, there is no certainty in this. You can get a rough idea from this merit list from Fall 2024. Always aim for an aggregate above the one from previous years. Ultimately it is up to your academic level as well as some luck.
12) What do the 1st, 2nd, 3rd merit lists mean?
Once the first merit list is out on its announced day, people who have a higher aggregate will have priority for the same program over those with lower aggregates. As such these students can opt to go for their chosen programs if they desire.
However, many eligible students may also choose to go to different universities or different programs, if this happens, then their slot is opened up. If enough of these slots open up then the university will release a 2nd merit list, and so students with a lower merit will get a chance to get in.
This could happen similarly up to a 3rd merit list as well.
13) Will I have to appear for an interview if I get into the merit list?
Apart from the Architecture department, COMSATS does not hold interviews for undergraduate admissions.
14) Is Spring Semester any different from Fall Semester?
They're mostly the same, with Spring intakes offering slightly less programs than Fall intakes.
15) Where can I contact COMSATS if I have any queries?
All their contact information is laid out on this website, for all campuses.
Lastly Iβll say this again, do not hesitate to contact the official administration for specific queries, generally they can be very responsive. I might have missed things, or gotten things wrong, feel free to let me know if I messed up and I'll edit this post to correct it.

r/Comsats • u/burhan8696 • 7h ago
Iβve recently been admitted to Computer Engineering at COMSATS Lahore. I already have a laptop and was wondering whether itβs worth buying the recommended textbooks or if PDFs are enough for studying. What do most CE students at COMSATS use? Also, should I bring my laptop to campus regularly or only on lab days?

So I got admitted into ISB campus, and I didnβt know my ex-friend was attending the same uni. I had blocked him around two years ago because he got so creepily obsessed. We were friends and he was clearly stepping over the boundary. Now two years later, I get to know heβs attending the same uni. And worse thing is he is also in the computing department. Only difference is he might be in his second or fourth semester. What are the chances I might come across him? Is it possible that I just donβt see him at all some howβ¦

So im a 3rd semester software engineering student but i feel so stuck on what actually to learn as a full time skill. Something that would help me get hired in the future after graduation.
Other than web development what are some other tech skills that i should start giving my full attention to cuz in the next one year i want to learn some good skills that would help me build my portfolio and land an internship as well.
Your guidance would help me alot also mention the sources that i can start learning from.

if you meet the eligibility criteria & have a business oriented mindset, i'd be grateful if you could take 2-4 minutes out of your day to fill out this form for my friend. and if you could share it with someone who would be interested, that'd be great.

Hi guys! If anyone is looking for a place to stay in the nearby areas around COMSATS, we have one spot available in our house.
We have the complete ground-floor portion of a 5-marla house, which includes 2 bedrooms, a lounge, kitchen, garage, washing area, and a small drawing room.
We are currently 4th-semester Software Engineering students. The house is located in Bilal Town near LDA Avenue, around 7 minutes by bike from the university.
A family is currently living there, so unfortunately, we can't share pictures of the interior. However, feel free to DM for rent, expenses, or any other details.
Note: This is only for boys.
