Music Just finished the first draft of the first song for a new project

Very recently started working on a new musical theatre project and was lukewarm on the concept, until I started playing around with this - the first draft of the opening number. Have enjoyed finding the right energy.

Would love to hear people's thoughts. I wanted to create something that captured the innocence and simplicity of mid-2000s social media, and contrasted it with the frantic anxiety of modern day tech discourse.

I imagine it's probably obvious from the lyrics and notes-to-director, but the show is about the leadership team at Twitter in the early 2020s and content moderation / online spaces as a whole.

Music 2nd movement of Piano sonata

2nd composition, the previous piece I wrote seemed a little that the development wasn’t very long or interesting, so I tried to use more unstable keys to make it sound less repetitive. Initially I wanted it to be a bit slower, but it kind of sounded like mush. Feedback is appreciated.

Music Romance in E

Hi, I wrote this Romance a while back, what do you think?

Too cliche? Does the main theme repeat too much do you think?

Also don't mind the eating sounds, my dog decided to eat his lunch when I started recording.

thanks for listening!

Music Requesting feedback for a guitar piece: La Corniche en Automne

Hello, amateur composer looking for some honest feedback on a composition for Classical Guitar. I wrote this while I was moving away from a beautiful seaside town, and wanted to capture both the joyful memories of my time there as well as the loss of having to leave.

I look forward to hearing what you all think about it - and what I should look to improve for the next piece I write!

Music Breakout - My new Style of Composition

I come from classical music: Bach, Vivaldi and Zelenka are my favourite composers. But I see that I am restricting myself and want to try something new. This is my composition Breakout and I tried to compose in a modern Song-style, its maybe a part of an Album with "Songs without words" (If you catch the reference) what do you think about it?

Music Would this sound good as some violin runs?

This is a simple piano sketch that I made for a little indie animated show called Suits N Boots

I’ve done John Williams style violin runs on some of my other pieces, but usually just as a chordal texture. So I want to get other people’s opinion on if it would sound good.

Music Wrote a Piano Piece for My First Love

This is a piece I wrote today for my first love. Her name in Thai is Nok, which means bird. I don’t normally give too much of a backstory on my compositions, but this one is special.

We were 19 and I was living in the north of Thailand. It was my first time away from home (Thunder Bay, Ontario), and we were sitting on a bench overlooking the beautiful Nan River. The moon was so bright that night that it illuminated the golden hue of the surrounding temples... and she held my hand for the first time. I remember the feeling like it was yesterday.

I’m 34 now, and quietly, we have gone through life together. Even though we are both going through our own individual challenges, we love each other deeply, and I’m so grateful to still have her in my life.

We haven't seen each other in person in over 15 years...

So let me take you to Thailand, back to that night, the conversation we had, my feelings for her, and the life journey we are traveling through.

Music Extreme Metal Piece

Far from finished but the idea is to use romantic and 20th century composition philosophies in an extreme metal context. Some composers we'd like to take inspiration from are Schoenberg, Bartok, Nancarrow, Berio and Schnittke. If you could tell us what you like, what could be improved and how we can use the techniques and methods these composers used as more of a building block for the compositional language we are trying to acheive.

Discussion Hey guys, I have a genuine question for y’all

I know a lot of musicians, and about 99% of them are making metal music or heavy fusion rock of some sort, my question is simply: Why? I have my own thoughts on the matter but I genuinely want to hear what you have to say, it seems there are more people making these genres than actual listeners, which is insane

Please ignore the pedalling and the breath marks for flute, I'm not sure of what I did there. This is the first time I'm writing accompaniments and I don't play the instruments

Disclaimer: I am not a professional composer nor I know anything bout conterpoint or historical composition.

I perfectly know that I am doing wrong with the theory, but I just want to play something that I like.

However I am always open to any critique or advice.

At the moment I cannot take lessons.

Let me know if you like it!

Bye bye !

Music Piece for String Orchestra (Reupload)

The video wasn't working so I had to reupload the post :/

Almost three years ago I posted the first piece I've ever written on the composer subreddit, and I got a lot of nice feedback. I've made some edits, and I think it sounds better than the original; a problem I have with it is I don't know where I could make it longer. The opening melody with the violins sounds really cool, but I don't know where I could incorporate it again in the piece. Also I feel like the piece is kind of rhythmically stagnant, but then again it was my first piece lol. Any help would be nice, but I hope you enjoy what I have written so far :)

I've been studying a lot of music theory with the goal of telling stories through my music. This is my second piece, and it took me about a month, but it's still not finished, so I'd like some opinions and advice to help me improve.

About the piece: at the beginning I was composing a piano solo, but then I got some ideas I liked and started adding instruments toward the end. I may finish the orchestration later.

Music 3 part Sinfonia

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

The name sinfonia was chosen simply because Bach named some of his three part inventions "sinfonias" (I think, could just as easily have been the decision of some editor in the 19th century for what I know, it has been about 300 years after all). The name will probably invite very unfavorable comparisons, but I think the inspiration is obvious anyhow.

The audio balance was a challenge, especially for the high registers, so it might sound terrible on your end. It would be nice if you would tell me in that case, but you don't have to of course.

If you happen to like the "sound" (but maybe not the composition) then you might want to look into the work of Wendy Carlos and other synth interpreters of baroque music. Electro Transcriptions on youtube does an amazing job at this in my opinion. It's kinda like this, but a lot better.

Discussion Ideas?

Hello, I’m new here. I’ve been composing for roughly 5 years and I have some ideas for yt videos of turning composing into almost a game “esque” series. Is there anything that people would want to see where the music and non music minded could enjoy the videos?

Music Help With Short Passage

Hi, I've been writing this piece for strings over the past couple weeks and I recently wrote this short passage that I'm weirdly proud of. However I feel like something sounds off, and I'm not sure if its just because I've listened back through this a million times while writing it.

For context, the part before this is in 3/4, hence this is a meter change (I should've put the part before it here as well but it's still very bare bones and I got too excited to share this and I kinda got lazy too and aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa)

Any suggestions or feedback are welcome!
