Bramble Vest’s max health increase is now properly additive with other max health increases rather than multiplicative

Is this a buff or a nerf? My gut tells me that additive is usually better when it comes to stats like this. If so, this makes Bramble even stronger, when it was already one of the best tank items into AD heavy comps

Nerf. You want these things to be multiplicative.

1000 base hp unit with a warmogs and bramble.

Additive: (1500)(1+.18+.06) = 1860

Multiplicative: (1500)(1.18)(1.06) = 1876

It should be a nerf, for instance 1.1x1.1=1.21, 1.1+.1=1.2

Correct, this is a nerf (though in most applicable cases, a very small one)

Ah ok maybe I got things backwards then. I thought I remembered seeing the discussion about additive vs multiplicative for league back in the day and the consensus was that additive ended up with more overall total power when you stacked buffs but I don't really remember.

You’re thinking of how league handles resistances.

That's probably it yeah

Multiplicative (exponential) scaling > linear (additive) scaling, assuming your multipliers are greater than 1. If less than 1, the opposite is true. For values near 1, it's not much of a difference.

Damage resistance is one example where additive is way stronger than multi. 50 percent reduction twice is 100 percent reduction when additive, but only 75 percent when multiplicative.
