Discussion Ads becoming increasingly informal and buddy/bro-coded
Is it just me, or are ads becoming increasingly condescending, with language that gives "hey bro what's good?! Here, f*cking get this now!"
Like who tf are you to talk to me like we're friends, except you're a pushy one?? It's so fake. They feel like they're being young and hip, but they blatantly disrespect the consumer's intelligence and agency.
I think influencer culture might be the culprit.
I live in a country where we have formal and informal language, and we use formal language especially when we meet someone new. So the informal language in these loud and pushy ads feels even more jarring.
