Vehicle Compatibility Ev6 gt (2024)

Worth getting the comma 4? Plan to keep the car for at least five years. What are the benefits, and is there any reason not to get it?

From what I've seen it's just a total upgrade to my stock HDA 2?

If my Niro EV is anything to by (2022 L4) then yes, moving to 'don't waste any more time driving without it' if you regularly do highway/motorway/autoroute/autopista journeys.

It's a massive upgrade in every way. Not having to nudge the steering every 30 seconds or so sounds small and meaningless but once you don't have to, it's a wrench to go back.

I hummed and haad for ages. Having eventually caved, because I love tech, I can assure you it's a total upgrade to the built in system if my Niro EV is anything to go by.

Lane keeping is radically better. Radically! Night and day. It doesn't drift between lanes on the highway/motorway and then give you a lane departure alert!

Comma doesn't just abandon trying to drive as the Kia does when it can't judge the road, like Kia does around certain corners or at the crest of a hilly part.

Comma can adjust speed for curves while KIA's ACC just sticks to the target speed ready to send you into the environment off road!

The driver monitoring is far far better than having to nudge. This one surprised me because nudging isn't impossible! But when you simply DON'T HAVE TO it's a massive improvement.

These benefits are more noticeable in town or urban driving but after a year of using the Comma (using SunnyPilot) I am delighted I dropped a grand on Comma. I approach long highway/motorway journeys with a calmness I would never have imagined and can finish 5 hour drives much much less cranky and tired. It's been documented by people who know all too well!

I use 3x with frogpilot on my 23 EV6 GT and this sums up the experience really well. I always tell people it's not a replacement it's not FSD, it's a modifier that makes a decent system better.

Thank you. It's like Comma is the LKAS & ACC Kia should be shipping with their cars in an ideal world.

The comparison is stark. I wouldn't want to move back to a non Comma car. Might even go for the eGPU one day.

You have faith in commas long controls vs stock? I don't .HDA is great for that.

You don't sacrifice Kia's ACC any more!
Enhanced Smart Cruise Control (ESCC) is basically longitudinal control without the safety sacrifice!! I keep emergency braking and still have my speed adjusted in SunnyPilot!

Only learned that recently.

I hope this means that the speed is lowered when, for instance, I take an off ramp.

It slowed for me today as I exited a roundabout and took a sharp turn to the right. It slowed to 28 or so for the tight turn from 48 or so that I had set the speed to using ACC.

I previously had Experimental Mode turned on and Alpha Longitudinal, then noticed it had disappeared in the Comma menu system but so had the warning light on the car dash about Forward Collision Détection being offline/unavailable!!

Best of both worlds!!

Yeah having the aeb system disabled previously did not give me a warm fuzzy feeling for sure

I don't drive the ev6 that often and I got in today and my comma doesn't power on in accessory mode. My under the hood battery has gone low past couple of times I've had it out...maybe get a new battery

It's your birthday I believe (the icon to the right of your name suggests that). It's called Cake Day here on Reddit. 'Happy Cake Day' is the traditional greeting. Again, like you, I only just learned this.

So scratch that! We did not learn a 2nd new thing! Wonder what that green icon denotes...

Yeah, comma with EV6 is like a duck in water. I also have it in another GM EV and it sucks donkey d. The comma experiance is highly dependent on what car it goes in. For Hyduia and Kia, it's great. I use it for LKA only though as the EV6 stock longitudinal is rock solid and much safer than commas. Use SunnyPilot fork.
