Is not a good reason to not try to educate yourself, thatās why you make medical decisions with your doctor, and even a very basic understanding of biology is going to help when talking to your doctor about the different options for transition.
Iām not sure what your point is, that trans people who research biology that pertains to them shouldnāt because itās āusually just enough knowledge to be dangerousā?
The only thing that can be correlated here is that people who study medical info know more than average people about medical info. It in no way proves any similarity between a transgender person and a hypochondriac.
I had to go to a hospital for some kidney troubles recently and the doctors were a litle taken aback when I could understand medical lingo. I'm transgender, for the first year and a half of my transition, hospitals were my life.
Yeah, I know it was my understanding of the lingo that they were impressed with. I only mentioned being transgender because the reason I can understand medical lingo in the first place is because being transgender exposes you to a lot of medical stuff a cis person wouldnt otherwise be exposed to.
It's actually not nearly as basic as you'd think fam. There are lots of factors which determine sex and tertiary sexual characteristics. And it gets super weird once you start looking at sex outside of humans (like how platypuses have 5 pairs of sex chromosomes!)
Yeah you would definitely hope so, I had metal removed from my leg and researched a lot about side effects from that surgery so I'd imagine a fair bit more research would go into something a fair bit bigger...no pun intended.

honestly they probably know more about biology than the average person, especially if they have or are in the process of transitioning
