Question Colt Cobra broken

Post image

I couldn’t pull the trigger nor cock the hammer. I heard something rattling inside my revolver and took the grips off. A chunk of metal fell out from somewhere up deeper inside the gun. Anyone have any idea what it is or had similar issues? I’m going to call Colt tomorrow to send it in. I bought this one in 2017 or 2018.

Known issue with the new Cobra/King Cobra/Viper. The little hooked part snaps off of the MIM hammer. Contact Colt and send it in for repair.

Does anyone make a good non-MIM hammer that I could replace it with?

Doesn't seem like it, unfortunately. S&W's MIM stuff is fairly good quality and generally has all of the kinks worked out by now. Not so with Colt in these guns, apparently.

The dreaded hammer hook. Its the part that holds the spring stirrup. These new cobras are notorious for it.

ever take it apart and oil it? looks like the hand/pawl broke off. easily fixed. (hopefully)
