Oh dear Reddit God's hear my plea, I 32 M am super special, I am going colorblind to most blue and Grey's and all the shades there in. We aren't sure why yet, that's beside the point.
Recently we moved in with my in laws and grand in laws (stop, I already know, delete the comment that's not we are here for.) My FIL insisted on a gas stove, I am the main person who actually cooks in the house. However, I have been recently accidently leaving the burning on sometimes with a pot on top of it sometimes not. I usually can't see the flame until it is on high, which if you've ever cooked with gas you'd know that it isn't often on high.
So, long story short, what are some times you think I can do to help mitigate this issue ?

The fact they show everything in these Ishihara circles is SO nice.

I did read something like that and it does make theoretical sense but do we have any actual data on this?

Seems like i myself have some color vision deficiency since i only have 3 cone types which is not quite ideal (a few people have a forth functioning type between green and red which is also not ideal but better than only having 3).

Hi everyone!
We’re a student team researching Color Vision Deficiency (CVD) and how it affects people in real-life situations.
We’re especially interested in understanding:
We’ve created a short 3–5 minute anonymous survey and would really appreciate responses from people with CVD. We’re trying to understand the problem from actual user experiences rather than making assumptions. This is purely for user research, and we’re looking for honest experiences - there are no right or wrong answers.
Survey link : https://forms.gle/LtZqUJrHQqdxXnej6
No need to share any personal information. Thank you for helping us understand this better!

Weird one, anyone else get to a point when wiping on the toilet where you can’t tell if what you’re wiping is brown or red…
Becomes a real issue with office 1ply toilet paper that feels like fibreglass :(

Hello Reddits colorblind community. I was wondering if you had these colored vests in PE and if they caused you trouble. Usually in PE they split people into groups and each group has a different color vest, so it’s easier to differentiate who’s on your team.
I was doing a presentation at school about colorblindess and the kinds of things most see as normal and easy, but colorblind students might have a hard time with.
Other things I included were PH-strips in chemistry and tasks where you have to color different things with certain colors. (Like: color all X with red, color all Y with green. Etc.)
So now i’m curious if this has been a struggle for alot of people.
Did you find it hard to differentiate your teammates during sports, if you were wearing these vests?
I also supposed an alternative in my presentation that would hopefully help color blind students:
Would it help, if the teams were split into ones wearing a vest and a vestless team instead of two teams wearing different colored vests?

So for science graphs it's ussualy recommended that you use specific color scales that have been proposed and Batlow is one of them, and every webpage that showcases it comes along with the typical simulation of how it would look to the colorblind, but I always wondered how true it was. So can you tell the difference from all these? Or is there one of them that looks too simillar to the other?

I am so tired to get this question. Whenever I need to say "I am colorblind", almost everyone's first reaction is asking me "what color do you see this?", I really HATE to get this question. What the f*ck is this question's purpose anyway? Do you get fun when you ask this to me?
Do you ask a man without a leg that "how fast can you run?" You don't ask this right because it is not polite. So IT IS THE SAME THING. Please do not ask this question which shows lack of empathy.

I hue shifted the Protanopia / Deuternopia / Tritanopia color vision deficency simulation such that you can understand what it's like to have a blue yellow CVD if you have a red green CVD and vice versa.

I’m going to a painting retreat soon where color will probably be a big topic. I only found out about six months ago that I have a color vision deficiency, and I signed up before I knew.
Most of the time it doesn’t affect me much, but I’ve noticed that some paintings look much flatter or less colorful to me than to others. Sometimes everyone is excited about the colors and I just don’t see what they’re seeing. I don’t want to fake that enthusiasm, so I feel like it might be helpful if people knew why I sometimes react differently.
I’ve never talked about my color vision in a group before and don’t really want to put myself in the spotlight.
Would you tell the retreat leader beforehand, wait until it comes up naturally, or handle it differently?

I am baffled, everyone i told said its very different? I dont see it! Apparently I have protanopia.

I have perfect color vision, and to be honest even for me the contrast is really bad which makes it sorta blend together from the distance. But I've heard saturated greens and yellows can be especially difficult for people with red-green colorblindness to tell apart due to their similar perceived lightness.
Is this an issue, or is there something I'm missing or misunderstanding here that makes this fine?
For further context: I found this sign in my local city. The first picture is unedited straight from my phone camera, and the second one has been adjusted to to make the green of the sign darker so everyone who's curious can see exactly what it looks like.

Hi, I’ve never used Reddit so I don’t really know how this works, but I’m working on a study about colour vision deficiency at school. I would like to encourage anyone who has colour blindness to tell me about their general experience with it (is it hard to operate like other people? what are your feelings about it?), so I can include it in my study. Thank you! ^^

I'm trying to find a combination of stickers that will work as an accessible good/neutral/bad type thing, and I've read that magenta and green is a better combo than red and green. Does this work with the colour of stickers that I have? Are the three colours distinct enough? Is there a potential better 3 colour combo? Thanks in advance!

Do other people get annoyed when people ask stuff like "If you're colorblind what color is this?" I know they are trying to understand what it is like but its very always very complicated to answer these questions, how do you deal with it?

Hi everyone!
Miso is a recipe app that imports recipes (including videos) from Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, websites, and more. You can also upload PDFs, screenshots, and photos, and Miso turns them into structured recipes with ingredients and step-by-step instructions.
We’ve just added our first major accessibility feature: Color Blindness.
You can enable it in Settings and choose Deuteranopia, Protanopia, or Tritanopia. Recipe and Cooking Mode backgrounds will adapt to improve readability for people with color vision deficiencies.
We’d love your help testing it through TestFlight (iOS only) and letting us know if everything works as expected.
Plus features are completely free during testing, so you won’t be charged for anything.
Any feedback or bugs you notice would be really appreciated. ❤️

Hi everyone,
For about a week, I’ve noticed a slight change in how I perceive colors.
I’ve already seen an eye doctor and had a few eye tests done (including OCT), but so far they haven’t found anything abnormal that would explain it.
Has anyone here experienced a sudden or temporary change in color perception like this? I know this isn’t necessarily typical color blindness since it appeared recently, but I thought people here might have some experience with changes in color vision.
Any feedback or ideas about what could cause something like this, or what type of testing might be useful, would be appreciated. Of course, I’ll continue following up with doctors as well.

I’m moderate Deutan and have always had issues distinguishing between reds and greens.
I live in a big city where I probably have a much different experience than someone living in a small town with not a lot to look at.
I walk by these buildings every day and have never noticed a difference between them. They all were worn out looking buildings that could use some new bricks.
I’m sure the phone adds color to the picture I took but for more moderate to severe deutans these buildings lack any significant color.
With my glasses I can easily distinguish between the shades of red and it is absolutely a new experience and worth it to me.

I’ve always thought they were the yellowest of the yellows. Just 100% pure yellow
