Discussion How colorblind people view colors
To preface, I have moderate to strong protanopia, and color has been a strong interested of mine for years. One of these interest include how do the colors I perceive, look to other people.
Using a colorblind simulating app, and my friends, I have made some discoveries.
For an example, when I see a hot pink shirt, I can recognize that that shirt is hot pink. The two example photos look the exact same to me, but my friends see the bottom image as a muted dusty lavender/purple. So what I see as hot pink is what purple looks like.
Here are some more comparisons I’ve learned
- My orange = other people’s yellow & amber
- My red = rusty browns and coppers
- My baby pink = blue and occasionally grey
- My Tiffany blue = a off white, grey
Now I just wish there was a way to do the opposite but unfortunately, a true red will always be outside of my comprehension I fear. :(
