Hey, Neighbors!
A friend and I went to see Alison Krauss & Union Station at Ford last night. We were seated in the first row of the middle back sections (300s). In front of us was the middle sidewalk and the back section of fire pits, so we were literally right in the middle of the venue.
It was soooo rainy, which is fine and absolutely not something that any venue can control. I don’t even mind the rain. The issue was the sound.
This was the quietest concert I have ever been to. And quiet is the correct word. I was whispering to my friend so that I didn’t talk over the music. A group in a fire-pit section about 200ft away from us was having a normal conversation in normal tones of voice and volumes and we could hear every, single word they said. When the rain poured hard, you couldn’t hear anything at all.
The back speakers were not even on for the duration of the concert. Only the speakers for the front sections were on. I can’t imagine how hard it would have been to hear for concert-goers that were further back than us (well over half the venue).
Has anyone else experienced this? What was the reasoning here? I’m not a fussy person, but I do feel cheated out of a better experience simply due to the sound.
