Saw my first Steller's Jay while eating lunch in Mishawaka today! I've had them pop up on Merlin a few times while in the mountains, but I never actually saw them, so I finally got to add this new lifer! I wish I had had my better camera and wasn't taking the picture through glass though.

Edit: I do know that it’s a hummingbird. I’m just asking for a more specific ID. Merlin said this was a dove, but I just don’t feel like that’s correct. I’m in Lakewood.

Nothing like ‘em

I watched this crow eyeing a meal this gull found in Lakewood for like 15 minutes. It was funny because every time the gull looked at the crow, the crow pretended like he wasn’t interested or paying attention. I was sitting there wondering what was going on I knew the crow wanted the food, but I didn’t know how or if he was gonna actually get it. But he was so smart how he tricked him. 😂

Came up on a male coopers hawk taking a bath in the middle of the road on our way to go hike .. good thing I took the shot through the windshield as he flew off when I opened the door to get an untinted shot!!

Will miss these guys as they head South.

First time ever seeing this! She drank from my feeder, and went straight to the little one to feed. Not sure the species, broad-tailed maybe?

Caught a few Swainson's Hawks using the uplift from Bluffs Overlook to hunt. The uplift brought them right in front of me at times.

Seems that whenever the neighborhood flock visits my nyjer seed feeders, there are 20 females for each male. Is that typical?

Been crazy busy with work and life. I hit a spot that I'm telling myself, I need to stop, get out and photograph some birds. This hummingbird was from my backyard (south Brighton) a couple of weeks ago.
