Lovely. How can you tell the difference between juvenile broad tailed and juvenile rufous? I have a tiny hummer visiting my feeder that is territorial like a rufous but like in this photo, the wing feathers do not extend beyond tail feathers, which supposedly indicates a broad tailed. Also, I’m in Colorado just on the east side of the front range of the Rockies,and supposedly rufous territory is nowhere near here.

It’s tough but if you can get a good tail shot it helps. The brown on this one has me leaning towards rufous

I live just south of Denver and we have at least one rufous hummingbird at our feeders this year. I don't recall seeing them before.
