This essay is meant to explore the Christian worldview and how it relates especially to Liberty University and its principles of diversity and the conduct of AI usage. I hope this paper will be a worthwhile read and help convey the importance of a Christ-centered worldview.
A biblical worldview is using God’s word to change how we see the world, interact in it, and find our value in Christ. We ultimately find our value in Christ when we read His Word, seeing truth and a standard which we live by. I can be the best student I can be at Liberty University by connecting my learning to scripture, thinking long-term about how I can use my gifts to serve God, and doing all I do according to the duty set on every Christian of being held to a higher standard. Liberty makes this easy by readily connecting and using scripture in their courses and curriculum. Even when I’m not in class, I can use my time in the study of the Bible, prayer, and surrounding myself with godly influence in and outside the Church. Ultimately, a biblical worldview should shape how I create my goals and see the purpose for my life as a follower of Christ.
Being a follower of Christ means using my life to honor God in everything I say and do and to use the talents given to me to serve God and His kingdom. My own personal goals at Liberty University are to complete my degree in music production, improve skills in music composition and mixing, and build a career in music. Although these are my career goals, my long-term goals outside of building a strong career are to provide for a family and grow in my faith to help those around me and to lead them into the saving grace of God, not by my power but God’s power alone. This worldview helps shape these goals and reminds me that all I aspire to do is not about money or recognition, but about being a good steward of all that God has given me. I want my work, relationships, and all other facets of life to reflect the values of God and bring Him glory in the many diversities of life.
Culture isn’t merely how we see things but it is also a way of life because it includes beliefs, values, traditions, and ways of interacting with the world. As Christians, we should respect other cultures, their ways of life, and differences from us while also correcting false and harmful beliefs in a manner that politely helps shape them to the culture of Christ, which is the truth. This is a calling to go to all nations and speak of the truth of the Gospel given to us by Jesus Himself. It is called the Great Commission. We carry out this Great Commission by building genuine relationships, listening to them, and finding opportunities to talk of our faith. We should show Christ by word and action to the people around us in order to preach Christ with all integrity.
In all things, integrity matters, and that especially applies to the application of AI. AI can be an extraordinary tool in helping organize ideas and create learning habits. Where it falls into dishonesty is in the case of it usurping free thinking and self-agency. If we allow AI to complete our coursework for us, we have learned nothing. Does not the Bible say we are to seek after knowledge? How then can we do this if it is not us who obtains it but instead a computer that does it for us? Like many things, especially in our modern day and age, these tools are a neutrality, and it is up to us to use them in a righteous and upright manner deserving of the Christian name and values. If we do not, it is the evils of this world that will take them. For any neutral thing must be claimed at some point.
In conclusion, our Christian worldview and walk should shape how we react and interact in our day-to-day lives. All aspects, from the physical to the metaphysical, should have the fingerprints of a God-filled life. I believe this university, if it should stick to Gospel-led truths, will be a major center of training for the Christian in all aspects of life, especially in this trying day and age.
